Entrance to eternity.... many stages.... kingdom of light - darkness....

The gate to eternity has to be passed through by every human being.... and likewise every being which has once taken the path on earth also has to go through the embodiment as a human being, consequently every being is once faced with the task of shedding its earthly shell and passing bodilessly into the kingdom of the beyond. But how different this transition from the earthly realm into the eternal kingdom can be. This transition does not always mean redemption for the being, i.e. liberation from all fetters, although all earthly body weight falls away from it. However, the bondage it now feels can be far more burdensome than the earthly shell ever was for the being.... But it is also possible for an immensely free, happiness-inducing state to replace the previous earthly life and for the being to be relieved of all torment, all fetters and all suffering. For example, a person living in poverty on earth can expect the most marvellous fate in the beyond and nothing will remind him of his earthly state, for his life from now on is light, freedom and unspeakable happiness. Again, many a person exchanges an earthly life in full comfort, joys and physical pleasures for a miserable existence in the beyond, where he lacks everything that could make his present life bearable. And this change is unspeakably bitter for the being as long as it realizes its own guilt and regocnizes its unused life on earth as well as the endlessly long life on earth before. For now the memories of the many previous stages it had lived through emerge in it, and the more it realizes this the more agonizing its state becomes, while the liberated being likewise sees this spiritual development and praises and glorifies God above all else for His kindness and care which made its final liberation possible. Thus the transition into the kingdom of the beyond will reveal an inconceivable number of spiritual levels. The beings who awaken in a radiant fullness of light will only be few, but the dark forms will be indescribably many and the awakening for them terrible. For their sojourn is just as dark and lightless as their state of soul, they enter those spheres which correspond to their state of maturity.... They have never desired light during their life on earth, and they have now been granted the fate they aspired to on earth. They are not treated unjustly but receive what they asked for.... They are in an environment that completely fulfils what their spiritual state demands. But correspondingly blessed are those who already desired the light on earth, for it shines for them in all its fullness and power. The striving of the spirit on earth now has an effect in the beyond, for the human being has previously accumulated wealth, which now brings about his blissful state. Now there is no other difference between the beings than that of the strength of light.... But woe to those beings who lack the light, who have never desired it and are still fleeing.... Oppression, sadness, indignation and darkness is their fate, and this cannot be changed at will as long as the desire for light is not awakened in the being. The being has to suffer, i.e. it is deprived of something although its will does not desire it.... it feels the torment of darkness and yet does not try to escape it because this darkness simultaneously inhibits the will, and this through its own fault. Only the desire for light lets the will become active, but rarely does a being in the beyond desire light which has rejected it on earth. This is the regrettable fact that the human being's attitude on earth rarely changes in the beyond, that the being often remains in the same rejection for an inconceivably long time.... and that it cannot be forcibly guided towards realization.... but that the beings then also have no opportunity to behold the spiritually mature since they would be unable to endure its abundance of light in their imperfect state.... that therefore no visible evidence can be given to them again which could change their wrong attitude. For such proof would again only judge them, i.e. lead them forcibly to realization. In every state, no matter how devoid of light it may be, the being must try to free itself, it must want to become free and only then will it feel light around itself. Yet everything full of light sees and regocnizes the glory of God.... It sees things it was previously unaware of, it sees the correlation of all creation, it is in the knowledge and is therefore also close to God.... for God is the light Which illuminates all these beings. And so the entrance to the life beyond is always a separation of light and darkness.... a separation of the beings who were in the desire for God and those who only knew the world and its goods.... The former consciously desired the light, the latter the prince of darkness, and thus everyone will receive what he desires during his earthly life....

영원의 입구. 다양한 수준. 빛의 충만함과 어두움.

영원의 문은 모든 인간이 통과해야만 한다. 마찬가지로 한때 이 땅의 과정을 시작한 모든 존재는 인간으로 육신을 입는 과정을 거쳐야만 한다. 결과적으로 모든 존재는 이 땅의 겉형체를 벗고 육체가 없는 저세상의 나라로 들어가는 일을 만나게 된다. 그러나 이 땅의 영역에서 영원한 나라로 들어가는 일은 아주 서로 다르게 될 수 있다. 이런 통과하는 일이 비록 존재가 이 땅의 모든 짐을 벗을지라도, 항상 존재에게 구원을 의미하는 것은 아니다. 존재가 이제 느끼게 되는 사슬이 이 땅의 겉형체가 존재에게 준 것보다 훨씬 더 부담을 줄 수 있다.

그러나 존재는 이전의 이 땅의 삶을 대신해서 말할 수 없게 자유롭고 행복한 상태가 될 수 있고, 모든 고통과 모든 속박과 모든 고난을 벗어날 수 있다. 예를 들어, 이 땅에서 궁핍하게 살던 사람이 저세상에서 가장 영광스러운 운명을 기대할 수 있고, 자신의 이 땅의 상태를 더 이상 전혀 기억하지 못하게 될 수 있다. 왜냐하면 그의 새로운 삶은 빛과 자유를 가진 말할 수 없는 행복한 삶이기 때문이다. 다른 한편으로 많은 사람들은 충분하게 편하고, 기쁘고, 육체적 쾌락을 즐기던 이 땅의 삶 대신에 저세상의 비참한 삶을 맞이한다. 그곳에서는 그의 삶을 견딜 수 있는 해주는 모든 것이 그에게 부족하다.

이런 변화는, 존재들이 자신의 죄를 깨닫고, 그의 헛된 삶과 이전의 이 땅의 긴 과정을 깨닫게 되면, 존재들을 말할 수 없게 고통스럽게 한다. 그에게 이제 그들이 겪은 이전의 많은 단계들에 대한 기억이 되살아나고, 그들의 이를 더 많이 의식하게 될수록, 그들의 상태는 더 고통스럽게 된다. 반면에 자유롭게 된 존재도 마찬가지로 그런 영적 성장과정을 보고, 자신을 최종적으로 자유롭게 되게 한 하나님을 무엇보다도 찬양하고, 칭송하게 된다. 그러므로 저세상으로 들어가는 일이 상상할 수 없는 영적인 성장 단계들을 깨달을 수 있게 해줄 것이다.

빛이 충만한 곳에서 깨어나는 존재는 단지 소수이다. 그러나 어두운 형상들은 표현할 수 없게 많고, 그들의 깨어남은 끔찍하게 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 그들의 거처는 그들의 혼의 상태와 같이 너무 어둡고, 빛이 없기 때문이다. 그들은 그들의 성장정도에 합당한 이런 영역으로 들어간다. 그들은 이 땅에서 사는 동안 결코 빛을 갈망하지 않았고, 그들이 이 땅에서 추구하던 운명이 이제 그들에게 주어진다. 그들은 불의한 대접을 받지 않고, 그들이 추구했던 것을 받는다.

그들은 그들의 영의 상태가 요구하는 것을 전적을 모두 충족시키는 환경에 있다. 그러나 이 땅에서 이미 빛을 갈망했던 사람들은 그에 상응하는 축복을 받는다. 왜냐하면 그들에게 모든 충만한 빛이 비추고, 힘이 주어지기 때문이다. 이 땅에서 행한 영적인 추구가 이제 저세상에서 나타난다. 왜냐하면 인간이 이제 자신을 축복된 상태에 있게 주는 재물을 이전에 모았기 때문이다. 이제 존재들 사이에 빛의 강도 외에는 다른 차이가 없다.

그러나 빛이 부족하고, 빛을 전혀 원하지 않았던, 게다가 이제 빛을 피하는 존재들에게 화가 있을 것이다. 그들의 운명은 억압과 슬픔과 분노와 어두움이다. 존재 안에 빛을 향한 갈망이 활발해지지 않는 동안에는 이런 운명을 마음대로 바꿀 수 없다. 존재는 고통을 받아야만 한다. 다시 말해 그의 의지가 원하지는 않지만 존재에게 어떤 것이 부족하다. 존재는 어두움의 고통을 느낀다. 그는 어두움을 벗어나려고 하지 않는다. 왜냐하면 이 어두움은 동시에 그 자신의 잘못으로 인해 의지를 또한 억제하기 때문이다. 빛을 향한 욕망이 비로소 의지가 일하게 할 수 있다. 그러나 저세상의 존재는 그가 이 땅에서 거부한 빛을 단지 희귀하게 요구한다.

이 땅에서 가졌던 인간의 태도가 저세상에서 거의 변하지 않고, 존재가 자주 상상할 수 없을 정도로 오랜 기간 동안 동일하게 거부하는 상태로 머무는 일은 유감스러운 일이다. 존재를 강제로 깨닫게 할 수 없고, 그러나 존재가 온전하지 못한 상태에서 풍부한 빛을 견딜 수 없기 때문에 이제 또한 영적인 성숙함을 볼 수 있는 기회가 없게 되는 일은 유감스러운 일이다. 그들이 그들의 잘못된 태도를 바꿀 수 있는 가시적인 증거가 그들에게 제공될 수 없다는 것이 유감스러운 일이다. 왜냐하면 그러한 증거가 그들을 단지 심판하기 때문이다. 다시 말해 강제적으로 깨닫게 하기 때문이다. 그에게 아무리 빛이 없을지라도 존재는 그런 상태에서 스스로 자신을 자유롭게 만들려고 시도해야만 한다. 존재는 자신이 자유롭게 되기를 원해야만 한다. 그러면 비로소 존재는 자신의 주변에 빛을 느끼게 될 것이다.

그러나 빛이 충만한 모든 존재는 하나님의 영광을 보고 깨닫는다. 그는 전에 알지 못했던 것들을 보고, 모든 창조물들의 연관관계를 본다. 존재는 지식이 있고, 그러므로 또한 하나님 가까이에 있다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 모든 존재에게 빛을 비추는 빛이기 때문이다. 따라서 저세상의 삶으로 들어가는 입구는 항상 빛과 어두움을 분리하는 곳이고, 하나님을 갈망하던 존재와 세상과 세상의 재물만을 알고 있는 존재와의 분리이다. 전자는 의식적으로 빛을 원했고, 후자는 어두움의 권세자를 원했다. 그러므로 모든 사람은 그가 이 땅에 거하는 동안 그가 갈망했던 것을 얻는다.
