Language....

Throughout the ages man's language has been the form of expression of his thinking, and man uses it in order to convey the result of his thinking to his fellow human beings. The wise creator has given them the means to connect people with each other, and at the same time He has given them the opportunity to formulate all mental activity through these means in order to allow fellow human beings to participate in every spiritual experience. At a certain stage of his development this gift is denied to him, but at the same time the ability to think is still undeveloped, and therefore both will only have the right value when they complement each other, i.e. when language can simply and clearly express what moves a person's thoughts. It is God's will that the human being has to make use of language for mutual understanding, for he shall thereby be offered the opportunity to influence his fellow human being and to explain his mental activity to him, and all people shall thereby receive the blessing of mental activity.... in that something can be imparted to them which their own thoughts have not yet awakened in them. For thoughts are again left up to people.... they can be good and also evil and thus also have a correspondingly good or evil effect on fellow human beings if this thought material is conveyed to them through language. And it will therefore be understandable how precisely language is an important factor in earthly existence.... how everything that is offered to people first becomes understandable to them through language.... and how without language the whole of life would touch people far more monotonously and without the linguistic transmission each person would only live his life for himself alone as there would be no possibility to inform other people of his own feelings.... no utterances would reach people, and the community among them would be far more endangered, for everyone would be occupied exclusively with his own thoughts, without realizing that each person is capable of thinking differently.... This becomes all the more understandable when one considers that the human being is always and constantly working out some thoughts and that countless thoughts would therefore vanish into nothing again if they did not want to make their way to their fellow human beings through language and thus stimulate mental activity there again and constantly give birth to new thoughts.... And therefore language as a gift of God cannot be valued highly enough, for it primarily enables a lively spiritual exchange for spiritual seekers and is the reason that the spiritually active person can rise up considerably more easily, for he can be offered regular instruction from all sides in many ways, and again it is only the human being's will, to believingly accept the spiritual knowledge imparted to him through language and thus to ascend, which would be incomparably more difficult for him without this divine favour and would therefore take an exceptionally long time if the human being were to reach the state of maturity of his soul without such mediation of thoughts. For since eternity divine love and wisdom has only endeavoured to make the earthly beings' ascent as easy as possible and therefore gave them the grace of being allowed to use language in order to make the path upwards easier for each other....

언어.

아주 오래전부터 사람의 언어는 생각을 표현하는 형식이다. 사람은 언어를 사용하여 자신의 생각의 결과를 이웃 사람에게 전달한다. 지혜로운 창조주는 사람들에게 그들을 서로 연결시켜야 하는 수단을 주었고, 동시에 이런 수단을 통해 이웃 사람이 모든 영적인 체험에 참여할 수 있도록 모든 생각한 것을 표현할 수 있는 가능성을 주었다. 그의 성장이 어느 특정한 단계에 이르기까지 그에게 이런 은사가 제공되지 않는다. 그러나 동시에 그의 생각하는 능력이 아직 발달되지 않았다. 때문에 표현할 수 있는 은사와 생각하는 능력이 서로 보완할 때, 즉 사람이 생각하는 것을 언어로 단순하고 선명하게 표현할 수 있을 때, 올바른 가치를 갖게 될 것이다.

사람이 서로 소통하기 위해 언어를 사용해야만 하는 일은 하나님의 뜻이다. 왜냐하면 이로써 사람에게 이웃 사람에게 영향을 미치고, 그에게 생각한 것을 선명하게 설명할 기회를 줘야하기 때문이다. 이로써 모든 사람이 그들 자신이 아직 스스로 깨우치지 못한 생각을 전달받으면서 생각한 것의 축복에 도달해야 하기 때문이다. 그러나 생각은 결국 각 사람들에게 자유이다. 이런 생각의 내용이 언어를 통해 이웃사람에게 전달이 되면, 그에 상응하는 좋은 영향이나 나쁜 영향을 이웃 사람에게 미칠 수 있다.

따라서 언어가 이 땅의 삶에서 얼마나 중요한 요소인지, 사람들에게 제공되는 모든 것이 얼마나 언어를 통해서만 이해할 수 있는 지, 언어가 없이 사람들이 얼마나 훨씬 더 단조롭게 하는지, 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 언어를 통한 소통이 없이는 모든 사람이 단지 자신을 위한 삶을 살게 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 이웃 사람들에게 자신의 느낌을 알릴 가능성이 없기 때문이다. 그러면 사람들에게 표현이 전달되지 못할 것이고 그들의 공동체는 훨씬 더 위험해질 것이다. 왜냐하면 모든 사람이 다르게 생각할 수 있는 능력이 있다는 것을 알지 못한 채 자신의 생각에만 전념하기 때문이다.

이런 일은 사람이 항상 어떤 생각을 하고 있고, 이 생각이 언어를 사용해 이웃 사람에게 향하기를 원하지 않는다면, 즉 상대방에게 다시 생각을 하도록 자극하고, 항상 새로운 생각을 하지 않는다면, 무수한 생각이 다시 사라질 것이라고 생각할 때, 더욱 이해하기가 쉬워진다.

그러므로 언어는 아무리 높이 평가해도 충분하지 않은 하나님의 선물이다. 왜냐하면 언어는 우선 영적으로 구하는 사람이 활발한 영적 교류를 할 수 있게 하고, 영적으로 활발한 사람이 훨씬 더 쉽게 성장할 수 있게 해주기 때문이다. 왜냐하면 그에게 모든 측면에서 다양한 종류의 정기적인 가르침을 줄 수 있기 때문이다. 다른 한편으로 언어를 통해 그에게 전달된 영적인 재물을 신실하게 받아들이고, 이런 하나님의 지원이 없이는 비교할 수 없게 어렵게 될, 그러므로 인간이 그러한 생각을 전달받을 가능성이 없이 그의 혼이 성숙 상태에 도달해야 한다면, 특별하게 오랜 시간이 걸릴, 높은 곳에 도달하게 하는 것은 단지 그의 의지이다. 왜냐하면 하나님의 사랑과 지혜는 영원으로부터 단지 이 땅의 존재들의 성장을 가능한 한 쉽게 만들어 주기 위한 염려를 했기 때문이다. 그러므로 서로 위로 향하는 길을 쉽게 만들어 주기 위해, 언어를 사용할 수 있는 은혜를 이 땅의 존재에게 제공했다.
