Necessity of natural disasters.... God's will turned into form....

It is of utmost importance to recognize how the creator's will is determinative for the entire work of creation. There is nothing in the world that could oppose this will, and all works of creation are the will of God that has become form. Thus no individual work of creation can arbitrarily separate itself and continue to exist according to other than divine law. As soon as God would like to withdraw His will from it, it would have ceased to exist; for only the will of God continuously animates everything that exists. It is this will, which has become form, that remains inviolable for all eternity. Even the destruction of any creations, but which, to put it better, only means an external change of form, is equally divine will, because without this will it would not be possible for any being to bring about the slightest change of form, let alone to destroy entire works of creation. Hence God's will must always be active here too, and since nothing in the lord's working can be arbitrary or haphazard but predetermined again in all wisdom for the best of the countless living beings, every disaster must also be taken into account and accepted as necessary for humanity. For countless beings need an apparent work of destruction in order to have the opportunity for higher development, and in a certain sense such processes are also beneficial for humanity, for only through them do many people find the right relationship with God and recognize the transitoriness of the body and earthly goods.... He recognizes that as a human being he is completely incapable of resisting these catastrophes and must therefore also acknowledge the will of a supreme being again.... And it will now be more understandable to him that the being on earth must always submit to divine will in order to remain as it were, in divine order.... This realization is decisive for the human being's earthly life. Only when he recognizes a higher power as such and endeavours to live according to its will is he able to comprehend divinity and the entire work of creation. For since the human being, as the only being, was left with the freedom of his will, he cannot indeed oppose divine will but he can oppose it by rejecting it, and it is this will of rejection which signifies the separation from the eternal deity, and the earth being's distance from God can only be reduced when its will completely subordinates itself to divine will. However, if the human being does not even want to acknowledge a higher will of a deity which directs and determines him and the whole of creation, events must of necessity provide him with the evidence, and thus natural disasters are a certain necessity again for the spiritual well-being of the whole of humanity, if only it derives the benefit from them and recognizes the rule and activity of the eternal deity in all events and now consciously establishes the right relationship with the creator....

Noodzaak van natuurrampen – Vorm geworden wil van God

Het is van het grootste belang om te beseffen, hoe de wil van de Schepper bepalend is voor het totale scheppingswerk. Er is niets in de wereld, dat weerstand zou kunnen bieden aan deze wil. En alle scheppingswerken zijn de vorm geworden wil van God. Dus kan nooit een individueel scheppingswerk zich willekeurig lostornen en volgens een andere dan de goddelijke wet voortbestaan. Zodra God Zijn wil aan dit scheppingswerk zou willen onttrekken, heeft het opgehouden te bestaan. Want alleen de wil van God geeft al het bestaande onophoudelijk leven.

Het is deze vorm geworden wil, die tot in alle eeuwigheid onaantastbaar blijft. Zelfs de vernietiging van welke schepping dan ook, die echter, beter gezegd, slechts een uiterlijke vormverandering betekent, is evenzo de goddelijke wil. Want zonder deze wil zou het voor geen wezen mogelijk zijn om de geringste verandering van een vorm tot stand te brengen, laat staan om gehele scheppingswerken te verwoesten.

Dus moet ook hier steeds de wil van God werkzaam zijn. En omdat niets in het werken van de Heer willekeurig of zonder plan kan zijn, maar in alle wijsheid voorbestemd, weer om bestwil van talloze levende wezens, dan moet ook aan elke ramp aandacht geschonken worden en moet zij ook beschouwd worden als iets dat nodig is voor de mensheid.

Want talloze wezens hebben een schijnbaar vernietigingswerk nodig, om van hun kant mogelijkheden te hebben voor de opwaartse ontwikkeling. En evenzo zijn zulke gebeurtenissen in zekere zin ook heilzaam voor de mensheid. Zo vindt menigeen pas daardoor de juiste verhouding tot God en beseft hij de vergankelijkheid van zijn lichaam en van de aardse goederen. Hij beseft, dat hij als mens totaal niet in staat is om zich tegen deze rampen te verzetten. En hij moet dus ook weer de wil van een hoogste Wezen erkennen.

En het zal nu begrijpelijker voor hem zijn, dat het wezen op aarde zich altijd aan de goddelijke wil moet onderwerpen om zich als het ware in de goddelijke ordening op te houden. Dit inzicht is bepalend voor het aardse leven van de mens. Pas wanneer hij een hogere macht als zodanig erkent en zich inspant om volgens Zijn wil te leven, is hij in staat om de goddelijkheid en het totale scheppingswerk te begrijpen.

De mens is als enige wezen de vrijheid van zijn wil gelaten. Hij kan weliswaar de goddelijke wil niet tegenwerken, maar hij kan zich hier wel afwijzend tegenover stellen. En het is deze wil om af te wijzen, die de scheiding van de eeuwige Godheid betekent. En de afstand tussen het wezen op aarde en God kan pas dan kleiner worden, als de wil van de mens zich geheel aan de goddelijke wil onderwerpt.

Als de mens echter nooit een hogere, een hem zelf en de hele schepping leidende en bepalende wil van een Godheid erkennen wil, moeten noodgedwongen gebeurtenissen hem het bewijs leveren. En dus zijn natuurrampen weer een zekere noodzaak voor het geestelijke welzijn van de totale mensheid, als die hier maar haar voordeel mee doet en in alle gebeurtenissen het heersen en werken van de eeuwige Godheid herkent en nu bewust de juiste verhouding met de Schepper tot stand brengt.
