Earthly and spiritual activity.... faith.... love....

Every being that comes into contact with earth has to fulfil a visible earthly purpose and at the same time an activity corresponding to the spiritual sense, which is only understandable when the whole life on earth is properly considered.... At certain intervals the being separates itself from its respective form.... it has fulfilled its task in it, was earthly active by enlivening God's work of creation and has also used the spiritual time of maturity allotted to it by God in this form, so that a new form can again take up the being for further development. However, the more mature and extensive the external form becomes, the greater the resistance the spiritual being has to overcome. Every being in divine creation can only reach the state of maturity through resistance, for by overcoming this resistance it strives upwards, and this alone is valued by the eternal creator. It cannot test its strength without resistance, so to speak, and therefore cannot provide proof of its inner strength and power. If the being now approaches its perfection, which only then enables it to embody itself as a human being, then the urge for earthly activity will also increase accordingly, and therefore the souls will constantly endeavour to be worthy of a great task in order to be able to increase their own progress through this. Before its embodiment as a human being the soul very well recognizes the situation it finds itself in and has no other goal than to soon have the time of its life on earth behind it and therefore only ever wants to be active in every form in order to be able to improve the most painful earthly state, which oppresses it immensely, as soon as possible. And yet countless opportunities are missed which could alleviate the soul's suffering.... The fight for the last promotion is often given up without resistance, it is not worked for its own good on earth, but in weakness of faith the soul is held back from its actual activity.... (30.10.1938) This process can be explained to everyone if only you consider that no forward development can take place if the being in matter is always in the same state.... but that this state will not change if the divine power cannot take effect.... but this only expresses itself when the preconditions have been fulfilled, which in turn consist of: first firm faith in a divine power and out of this faith obeying the demand made by the divine power. The spiritual being before the embodiment as man fulfils all these requirements of God, because it has to carry out the will of God, therefore fulfils his activity, which is intended for it in every form. But as a human being it is endowed quite differently, with the gift of reason, intellect and free will. Man can therefore scrutinize and accept or reject everything. And since a spark of divine realization has been placed in his heart, he can now think for himself and place himself in a state of inner faith, and only then does the ascent begin. But without faith the human being also walks his earthly path in an unchanged spiritual state and does not fulfil his task on earth. The time now passes unused which the being has striven for before, knowing that only this embodiment as man can bring him liberation from matter. All demands which earthly life makes on the human being are fulfilled to the best of its ability, and the only most important one, the higher development of the soul, is disregarded. And yet the being has to walk this earthly path without knowledge of the actual purpose.... it has to acquire this knowledge on its own, since it has also been given the ability to do so.... It must find its way to the highest deity of its own accord and desire it, since only in this way can the complete return to the father's house take place. A compelled being would never be able to shape itself in a God-like manner and would also not remain in any lasting connection with the heavenly father, for it would not yet have completely detached itself from its desires.... It must conquer them in full faith and of its own free will and thus pave its way upwards. And now it is also understandable why the spiritual life of the individual is completely independent of earthly activity.... The spirit is free and unbound and takes up residence where it pleases. However, it is precisely this activity and its consequences for earthly life that often stimulate the intellect and thinking in such a way that an explanation is sought and found as to how the spiritual activity is related to the earthly.... Then faith will set in, and with it the redemption of the soul from matter begins. For true faith brings about love for God and one's neighbour, and love in turn is the only way to redeem oneself.... Love has a beneficial effect in every relationship.... it puts people in a state of realization.... it ennobles him and raises everything spiritual in man to the heights.... Love brings about the final union with the heavenly father, Who is love Himself....

이 땅의 활동과 영적인 활동.... 신앙.... 사랑....

이 땅에 임하는 모든 존재는 눈에 보이는 이 땅의 사명을 가지고 있고, 동시에 영적 의미에 해당하는 활동을 수행한다. 이 땅의 전체의 삶을 올바르게 관찰해볼 때 이런 활동을 이해할 수 있다.

특정 시간 간격으로 존재는 각각의 자신의 형태와 분리가 된다. 존재는 자신 안의 사명을 완수했고, 이 땅에서 하나님의 창조의 작품이 살아있게 하는 일을 했고 또한 그 형태 안에서 하나님이 부여한 영적 성숙을 위한 기간을 활용하여, 계속 성장하기 위해 새로운 형체를 입을 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 이제 형체가 더 성숙해지고 광범위해 질수록 영적 존재가 견뎌야만 하는 저항은 항상 더 커진다. 하나님의 창조물 안의 모든 존재들은 단지 저항을 통해 성숙의 상태에 도달할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 이 저항을 극복함을 통해 존재가 위를 추구하고, 영원한 창조주가 유일하게 이를 평가하기 때문이다. 동시에 저항이 없이는 힘을 시험해볼 수 없고, 때문에 내면의 강함과 힘을 또한 증명할 수 없다.

존재가 이제 인간으로서 육신을 입을 수 있게 해주는 자신의 완성에 가까워지면, 그에 따라 이 땅의 활동을 향한 욕구도 증가할 것이다. 따라서 혼은 동시에 더 큰 사명에 합당하게 되기 위해 그리고 이를 통해 그들 자신의 성장정도를 높이기 위한 추구를 할 것이다. 혼은 자신이 인간으로 육신을 입기 전에, 자신이 처한 상황을 아주 잘 인식하고, 자신이 이 땅에서 사는 시간을 빠르게 마치는 일 외에는 다른 목표가 없다. 그러므로 항상 단지 모든 형태 안에서 이 땅의 가장 고통스럽고 헤아릴 수 없이 짓누르는 상태를 가능한한 빨리 개선할 수 있기 위해 일하기를 원한다. 그러나 혼의 고통을 덜어줄 수 있는 수많은 기회를 놓친다. 마지막 요구를 충족시키기 위한 싸움을 종종 저항없이 포기한다. 이 땅에서 혼 자신의 유익을 위해 일하는 것이 아니라, 믿음이 약함으로 인해 혼이 실제 해야할 활동을 하지 않는다.

(1938년 10월 30일) 만약 존재가 물질 안에서 항상 같은 상태에 머문다면, 어떤 식으로 든 성장할 수 없음을 생각한다면, 이 일은 모든 사람에게 설명할 수 있는 일이다. 하나님의 힘이 역사할 수 없다면, 이런 상태는 변화되지 않는다. 그러나 하나님의 힘은 전제 조건이 충족되었을 때만 역사한다. 전제 조건은 먼저 하나님의 권세를 향한 확고한 믿음을 갖고, 이 믿음에 기초하여 하나님의 권세가 요구하는 요구를 따르는 일이다. 인간으로 육신을 입기 전의 영의 존재는 하나님의 뜻을 제대로 수행할 것이다. 왜냐하면 영적 존재가 하나님의 요구 사항을 모두 충족시켜야만 하기 때문이다. 다시 말해 모든 형태로 그에게 주어진 그의 일을 수행하기 때문이다.

그러나 전혀 다르게 인간이 된 존재는 이성과 이해력과 자유의지를 부여받았다. 따라서 사람은 모든 것을 조사하고 받아들이거나 거부할 수 있다. 그의 심장 안에 하나님의 깨달음의 불씨를 부여받았기 때문에 그는 이제 스스로 생각하고, 내면에서 믿는 상태가 될 수 있고, 그러면 비로소 성장이 시작된다. 그러나 믿음이 없이는 사람은 변하지 않는 영적인 상태에서 그의 이 땅 길을 걷고, 이 땅에서 그에게 주어진 임무를 수행하지 못한다. 이제 그가 인간으로 육신을 입는 일만이 그를 물질로부터 해방시킬 수 있다는 것을 아는 가운데 이 전에 추구해왔던 시간을 활용하지 못하고 보낸다.

그는 이 땅의 삶이 사람들에게 요구하는 모든 요구를 최선을 다해 충족시킨다. 그러나 유일하게 가장 중요한 일인 혼을 더 높게 성장시키는 일에는 주의를 기울이지 않는다. 그는 실제 이 땅의 존재의 목적을 모른 채 이 땅의 길을 가야만 한다. 그는 자신이 동인이 되어 가장 높은 신성을 찾아야만 하고, 신성을 갈망해야만 한다. 왜냐하면 단지 그렇게 함으로써 아버지의 집으로 완전히 돌아갈 수 있기 때문이다. 강요된 존재는 결코 자신을 하나님처럼 형성시킬 수 없고, 하늘의 아버지와 지속적으로 연결이 된 상태에 머물 수 없기 때문이다. 왜냐하면 그가 아직 자신의 욕망으로부터 완전히 해방되지 않았기 때문이다. 그는 전적으로 믿는 가운데 자유의지로 이 욕망을 정복해야만 하고, 높은 곳으로 향하는 길을 열어야만 한다.

그러면 이제 또한 개인의 영적인 삶이 왜 이 땅의 일과 완전히 독립적인 이유를 이해할 수 있다. 영은 자유롭고 얽매이지 않고, 자신에게 편안한 곳에 머문다. 단지 자주 바로 그런 일과 그로 인해 이 땅의 삶에 주는 결과가 영적인 일이 세상적인 일과 어떤 연관 관계에 있는지를 향한 설명을 구하고 발견하도록 이해와 생각에 종종 자극을 한다. 그러면 믿음이 동원이 될 것이다. 이로써 혼의 물질로부터 구속이 시작된다.

왜냐하면 올바른 믿음은 하나님과 이웃을 향한 사랑을 낳고, 다시 이 사랑만이 자신을 구속할 수 있는 유일한 가능성이기 때문이다. 사랑은 모든 관계에서 유익한 역사를 한다. 사랑은 사람을 깨우친 상태로 인도한다. 사랑은 그를 고귀하게 하고, 사람 안의 모든 영적인 것을 위로 끌어 올린다. 사랑은 사랑 자체인 하늘 아버지와 최종적으로 하나가 되게 한다.
