Explanatory note to no. 410....

Thus walking on earth is nothing more than a transition into the eternal regions, and again and again it is man himself who determines his own condition in those regions. If he has spent his life on earth in constant striving for spiritual goods, he will never have to fear that life in the other world will be a burden for him.... he will never have to fear the hour of death and will only leave the valley of the earth to swap it for heavenly realms, which will appear incomparably lovely to him.

But the inner return to God must have taken place.... the union with the highest Being must have preceded if man is to reach this state of mind, which guarantees him a complete dissolving of his covering. In the other case, however, the human shell will not separate so easily from the soul.... Although the soul has left it's earthly body, it is still not free....

The spirit's covering still clings to it.... it is not completely free, but still prevented by the same fetters as on earth to be able to swing freely up into higher regions, and this state will then be the same as the state on earth, because the soul in the beyond still walks in the same ignorance and obduracy.... it is often unconscious that it has already left the earthly valley.... Therefore your spirit always finds the sphere equal to itself, and when the soul has already reached the state of maturity on earth, then it also, at the time of bodily death, immediately enters light-filled spheres....

It then does not first have to go the endlessly long way of struggle in the hereafter, which is similar that of the earth, but cannot be overcome as easily as on earth. Do not fall therefore into the temptation to believe that over there the possibility still remains for you to mature the soul.... This is far more difficult, and unspeakably remorseful is the recognition of the unused time on earth. So it is always more advisable to remember the hereafter with horror as an unfinished being and then to restlessly strive for the greatest possible perfection already on earth, than to indulge in inertia in the hope that one can make up for what has been missed here....

Life on earth with all it's misery and suffering is nothing compared to the struggle of such imperfect souls in the hereafter; for you are not given such possibilities as on earth.... Your struggle will be far more difficult until all human earthly things have completely separated from your spirit and then your spirit has reached the degree that it can be absorbed into a new kingdom of light. Thus it is to be understood that the state of the human is passed on to the soul until it has reached the degree of maturity determined for it....

De modo que el camino por la Tierra no es más que un tránsito a las regiones eternas, y siempre es el mismo hombre quien prepara su situación en esas regiones. Si llegó al fin de su vida terrenal aspirando continuamente a bienes espirituales, entonces su futura vida en el Más Allá no supondrá una pesadilla para él, y no tendrá que temer la hora de la muerte. Dejará la Tierra atrás para cambiarla por esferas celestiales que le encantarán. Pero el regreso interior a Dios tiene que haberse realizado previamente. Si el hombre quiere lograr la madurez espiritual que le garantiza una disolución integral de su envoltura, tiene que haberle precedido la unión con el Ser supremo. De lo contrario, la envoltura humana no se separará tan fácilmente del alma. Pues, pese a que el alma haya dejado su cuerpo físico atrás, todavía no será libre porque el espíritu aún habrá quedado con la envoltura pegada a ella. Por eso el alma no es aún realmente libre, y las mismas ataduras de la Tierra todavía le impiden que pueda alzarse a alturas superiores. Por lo que permanecerá en un estado idéntico al de la Tierra ya que en el Más Allá continuará en la misma ignorancia y obstinación. Frecuentemente el alma ni siquiera es consciente de que ya ha dejado la Tierra atrás. Vuestro espíritu siempre se encontrará en una esfera afín a él. Si todavía estando en la Tierra el alma ya ha alcanzado el estado de madurez, entonces entrará inmediatamente en esferas llenas de luz en cuanto abandone el cuerpo físico. Ya no le hará falta pasar en el Más Allá por un camino de luchas infinitamente largo parecido al de la Tierra pero que no resulta tan fácil como en ella. Por eso no os entreguéis a la ilusión de que en el Más Allá todavía podréis preocuparos por la maduración de vuestra alma, porque os resultará muchísimo más difícil y os costará lágrimas reconocer haber aprovechado tan mal el tiempo de vuestra estancia en la Tierra. Por eso es mejor que la criatura todavía imperfecta piense con temor en el Más Allá y se dedique con ahínco a lograr un máximo grado de perfección estando todavía en la Tierra, que no hacerse la ilusión de que en el Más Allá pueda recuperar lo que desaprovechó en ella.

Toda la miseria y aflicción de la vida en la Tierra carecen de importancia comparadas con la lucha que semejantes almas imperfectas tienen que sostener en el Más Allá. Porque allí no tendréis las mismas posibilidades que aquí en la Tierra. Muy dura será vuestra lucha hasta que todo lo mundano se haya separado de vuestro espíritu y este llegue a la madurez necesaria para poder ser aceptado en un nuevo Reino de Luz. Así es como hay que entender que el estado de hombre es impuesto al alma hasta que la misma alcance el grado de madurez predeterminado para ella.
