3782 The spiritual in man himself draws near the last judgement....

May 27, 1946: Book 48

Humanity's conduct cries out for judgment.... it draws the last Judgment itself, for it truly no longer pays attention to the purpose of earthly life, it is no longer on the spiritual level which requires an embodiment on earth as a human being. And therefore it will be thrown back from the last stage of its development into the initial stage again, and it will have to take the earth as its abode again for an infinitely long time in order to finally be able to redeem itself one day. People no longer recognize Me, they are more unbelieving than ever and therefore do not seek contact with Me either, they are without strength and can no longer develop spiritually, yet they strive even further away from Me by seeking strength from My adversary, by trying to increase themselves and their strength through their own unkindness and by passing by their fellow human being's adversity apathetically. It is a state on earth which is not bearable and therefore requires an urgent change, it is a state which completely contradicts My law of eternity and therefore cannot be tolerated by Me. People themselves do not strive for an improvement of their spiritual state but they sink ever deeper. And for the sake of the spiritual substance itself, which is embodied on earth as a human being, I interrupt its course of development.... I place the spiritual substance again into the external form which corresponds to its degree of development.... I judge the spiritual, I end the state of freedom it had already reached and imprison it again, completely depriving it of its freedom for its former salvation. I judge it, however, the spiritual itself draws the judgement, people in the stage of free will are themselves the originators of what is about to happen to earth. Human will does not strive for final freedom but chains itself more firmly than ever to matter and thus testifies to the desire which is also granted to it. People's own love is predominant, neighbourly love is not practised, and people completely switch off their love for Me, for they no longer recognize Me and, due to their lack of love, also render themselves incapable of recognising Me. And this is a spiritual low which results in the dissolution of the creations which sheltered the spiritual for the purpose of ascent development. The time is drawing ever closer when this act of dissolution will take place, for humanity does not improve, it remains hard and unfeeling in its thoughts and actions, it no longer recognizes the law of love which, however, underlies My eternal order. Yet without love there is no existence, for love is strength, and strength is needed by every being which strives upwards.... which wants to live in freedom and bliss and which wants to dwell close to Me for eternity....
