"Wen Gott lieb hat...."

Wen Gott lieb hat, den lässet Er gar oft steinige Wege wandeln und Lasten tragen, die ihn fast niederdrücken; doch immer nur zu seinem Besten, denn jegliche Kreuzeslast kann ihm zum Segen gereichen bei der rechten Einstellung zu Ihm, Der sein Schicksal lenkt. Wen Gott lieb hat.... Seine Liebe gilt wohl allen Seinen Geschöpfen, doch in Sonderheit denen, die es nicht mehr weit haben, um das letzte Ziel zu erreichen. Er kennet eines jeden Menschen Gesinnung, und so weiß Er auch, wie der einzelne Mensch zu seinem Gott und Vater von Ewigkeit steht, und entsprechend fasset Er ihn oft an, um ihm zum Erreichen des Zieles zu verhelfen. Und so nur dürfet ihr euch erklären, daß oft Gott-treue Menschen, die offensichtlich Ihm zu willen sind, leiden müssen und oft einen schweren Lebenskampf führen müssen, der an der Güte und Liebe Gottes mitunter zweifeln lässet. Gott weiß es, wozu alles gut ist, und so nur die Menschen überzeugt wären von Seiner Liebe und Güte, würden sie auch alles Schwere als Schickung Gottes erkennen und sich nicht auflehnen, sie würden sich von Gottes Liebe erfaßt wissen und geduldig warten, bis das Schicksal sich wieder wendet. Es ist wahrlich viel Leid auf der Erde, es schmachtet die Menschheit unter seinem Druck, aber sie erkennt sich nicht als erziehungsbedürftig und lehnet sich daher innerlich auf, wo sie nur ergeben sich fügen sollte, auf daß alles Schwere ihr wieder abgenommen würde und die Hilfe Gottes offensichtlich in Erscheinung tritt, daß Gott als liebender Vater zu erkennen wäre von jedem, der Ihn erkennen will. Die Gott lieb hat, lässet Er leiden.... Wohl kaum werden diese Worte gläubig ausgesprochen, denn kein Mensch denkt daran, daß Leid ein wahrhaft wirksames Erziehungsmittel ist in einer Welt, wo nur immer das angestrebt wird, was dem Körper wohltut, wo die Liebe Gottes nicht gesehen wird in Zuständen der Not und des Kummers. Und dennoch ist es Seine Liebe, die sich äußert so, wie es für die Seele dienlich ist. Denn Gott weiß um den Segen des Leides, und Er wendet darum oft solche Mittel an, um die Menschen von der irdischen Welt zurückzuhalten. Er will sie lieber leiden sehen als untergehen in dem Morast der Welt und ihrer Sünde. Er weiß, daß Krankheit und Schmerzen eine Wandlung hervorbringen können, daß aber niemals die Welt einen geistigen Erfolg für die Seele bieten kann, daß darum die Welt zuerst zurückgestellt werden muß, wozu Gott Seine indirekte Hilfe gibt, indem Er die Menschen zurückhält von der Welt und ihren Gefahren durch Mittel, die wohl scheinbar die Liebe Gottes vermissen lassen, doch niemals für die Seele verderblich sind, es sei denn, der Mensch bäumt sich auf gegen das Schicksal und er rufet nach Seinem Gegner. Dann wird ihm wohl geholfen werden, doch anders, als es der Mensch denkt.... er hilft wohl, doch niemals ohne Gegenleistung.... Und diese Gegenleistung ist das Abtreten der Seele an ihn. Darum ergebet euch in den Willen Gottes, so ihr betroffen werdet von Not und Leid, murret und klaget nicht, beuget euer Haupt unter Seine Anordnungen, und richtet eure Augen nur auf zu Ihm. Und Er wird das Kreuz von euch nehmen, Er wird es euch leichtmachen, sowie ihr euch Ihm und Seiner gnadenvollen Führung willenlos überlasset. Denn ihr könnet euch immer geliebt wissen von Ihm, Der nur durch Leid und Not euch selbst gewinnen will für Sich, Der eure Seele läutern will und ihr immer wieder Gelegenheit gibt, sich in Geduld und Sanftmut zu erproben, auf daß dann die Hilfe Gottes sichtlich kommt, auf daß Seine Liebe sichtlich eingreifet und Er auch alle Wunden heilet zur rechten Zeit....

'Whoever is loved by God....'

Whoever is loved by God often has to follow stony paths and carry burdens which almost crush him; but always only for his own good, for every burden of the cross can be a blessing for him if he has the right attitude towards Him Who directs his destiny. Whoever is loved by God.... He certainly loves all of His living creations but especially those who no longer have far to go in order to reach the final goal. He knows every human being's disposition and thus He also knows every individual person's attitude towards his God and Father of eternity, and He will often treat him accordingly in order to help him reach the goal. And only in this way should you explain the fact that God-devoted people who clearly fulfil His will have to suffer and often fight a difficult struggle for existence, which at times raises doubt about God's benevolence and love. God knows the purpose of everything, and if only people were convinced of His love and kindness they would also recognise everything as divine providence and not rebel against it, they would know themselves as being seized by God's love and patiently wait for their destiny to change again.

There is truly much suffering on earth, humanity is languishing under its weight, but it does not recognise itself in need of educating and therefore inwardly revolts against it when it should just humbly submit to it, so that all difficulties would be taken away again and God's help would manifest itself so clearly that He could be recognised as a loving Father by everyone who wants to recognise Him. Those who are loved by God are allowed to suffer.... These Words find little credence, for no-one considers that suffering is a truly effective method of upbringing in a world where people only ever strive to please their body, where God' love is not seen in situations of adversity and sorrow. And yet it is His love which manifests itself such that it is beneficial for the soul. For God knows the blessing of suffering and therefore He often uses such means in order to keep people back from the earthly world. He would rather see them suffer than plunge them into the mire of the world and its sin. He knows that disease and pain can result in a change, but that the world can never offer the soul spiritual success, so therefore the world has to be disregarded first, which God indirectly assists people in doing by keeping them back from the world and its dangers through means which seemingly lack God's love but are never harmful for the soul, unless the human being revolts against his destiny and invokes His adversary.

Then he will be helped indeed, but in a different way than the human being thinks.... he will certainly help but never without reward.... And this reward consists of handing the soul over to him. Therefore submit to God's will when you are affected by adversity and suffering, don't grumble and complain, bow down to His orders and lift your eyes up only to Him. And He will take the cross from you, He will make it easy for you as soon as you completely surrender yourselves to His merciful guidance. For you can always know yourselves loved by Him, Who through suffering and adversity only wants to win you for Himself, Who wants to purify your soul and time and again provides it with the opportunity to practise patience and gentleness, so that God's help will then visibly arrive, so that His love will visibly intervene and also heal all wounds when the time is right....
