Tätigkeit des Geistesfunken im Menschen....

Der Wendepunkt im Erdenleben ist der Moment, wo die Seele dem Geist in sich die Freiheit gibt, daß dieser sich zur Höhe schwingen kann, um mit dem Geistigen außerhalb der menschlichen Seele in Verbindung zu treten. Je früher dieser Vorgang einsetzt, desto eher erreicht der Mensch den Reifegrad, der Vorbedingung ist zum Empfangen von Licht und Wissen. Es ist der Mensch unwissend, solange der Geist in ihm noch nicht tätig ist, solange der göttliche Funke im Menschen schlummert, denn es kann das Geistige sich der menschlichen Seele nicht offenbaren; sie ist gleichsam unfähig, eine geistige Mitteilung zu fassen, denn ihr Reich ist die Erde, die Materie.... und Geistiges ist ihr noch völlig fremd. Erst wenn der Geistesfunke in ihr selbst tätig wird und versucht, Wissen aus dem geistigen Reich zu vermitteln, beginnt sie zu begreifen. Es wird der Mensch so lange kein Verständnis haben für das, was nicht irdisch sichtbar oder greifbar ist, wie er sich nicht näher damit befaßt. Letzteres tut er aber erst dann, wenn ihm das irdisch Sichtbare und Greifbare nicht mehr genügt, also wenn die Erfüllung des körperlichen Begehrens ihm reizlos erscheint, er den Körper also außer acht läßt und Verlangen trägt nach höherem Wissen;.... wenn er plötzlich ein Manko erblickt in seinem derzeitigen Zustand.... wenn ihm das Leben nicht genügt, das er führt, und er sein Augenmerk richtet auf Dinge, die er mit bloßem Kopfverstand nicht ergründen kann. Dann grübelt er, also er sendet seinen Geist zur Höhe, und nun verbindet sich der Geist mit dem Geistigen außer sich, das der Wesensart des Menschen entspricht. D.h., ist der Mensch gut und edel, wahrheitsliebend und im Verlangen nach Gott stehend, dann verbindet sich sein Geist mit dem Geistigen, das im gleichen Streben stand, das also das Gute, Wahre und Göttliche verkörperte.... Das aber im Gegensatz zum Menschen schon auf einer Vollkommenheitsstufe steht, die es befähigt, das sich ihm anvertrauende Geistige zu belehren. Was der Geist also nun empfängt, sind Weisheiten, die nur das geistige Reich betreffen, die also wohl der menschlichen Seele vermittelt werden können, die aber keine irdischen Fragen betreffen, sondern lediglich die geistige Höherentwicklung des Menschen fördern. Diese Höherentwicklung erscheint jedoch nur den Menschen bedeutsam, die sich vom irdischen Erleben trennen können, den anderen aber ist sie ein leerer Begriff, denn ihre Seelen fassen einfach nicht, daß sie ein Leben führen können abseits des Irdischen, das ihnen viel reizvoller und zweckerfüllender scheint. Erst wenn die Seele den Geist in sich frei gibt, kann dieser die Seele einweihen in die Herrlichkeiten des geistigen Reiches, und dann strebt die Seele gleichfalls zur Höhe, d.h., sie verlangt sehnlichst nach den Ergebnissen des geistigen Fluges zur Höhe, in das geistige Reich. Denn sie erkennt den Wert dessen, was ihr der Geist zu vermitteln sucht, sie erkennt ihn und sucht sich der Zuwendung aus dem geistigen Reich würdig zu machen.... Also es strebt der Mensch nun bewußt nach Erkenntnis, nach dem Licht, und das bewußte Streben trägt ihm auch Licht ein, es wird der Mensch wissend, und sein Erdenleben trägt ihm den rechten Erfolg ein.... die Höherentwicklung seiner Seele, die Zweck und Ziel des Erdenlebenswandels ist....

Activity of the spiritual spark in man....

The turning point in earthly life is the moment when the soul gives the spirit within itself the freedom to vibrate upwards in order to make contact with the spiritual beyond the human soul. The earlier this process begins, the sooner the human being reaches the degree of maturity which is the precondition for receiving light and knowledge. The human being is ignorant as long as the spirit in him is not yet active, as long as the divine spark slumbers in the human being, for the spiritual cannot reveal itself to the human soul; it is as it were incapable of grasping a spiritual communication, for its kingdom is earth, matter.... and the spiritual is still completely alien to it. Only when the spiritual spark within itself becomes active and tries to impart knowledge from the spiritual realm does it begin to comprehend. Man will have no understanding of that which is not earthly visible or tangible as long as he does not concern himself more closely with it. However, he only does the latter when what is earthly visible and tangible is no longer sufficient for him, i.e. when the fulfilment of physical desire seems unattractive to him, i.e. when he disregards the body and longs for higher knowledge;.... when he suddenly recognizes a shortcoming in his current state.... when the life he leads is not enough for him and he turns his attention to things he cannot fathom with mere common sense. Then he ponders, i.e. he sends his spirit upwards, and now the spirit connects with the spiritual outside itself, which corresponds to the nature of man. In other words, if the human being is good and noble, truth-loving and longing for God, then his spirit connects with the spiritual that was in the same endeavour, that embodied the good, the true and the divine.... But which, in contrast to man, already stands on a level of perfection that enables it to teach the spiritual that entrusts itself to it. What the spirit therefore now receives are wisdoms which only concern the spiritual kingdom, which therefore can certainly be imparted to the human soul, but which do not concern earthly questions but merely promote the spiritual higher development of the human being. However, this higher development only appears significant to those people who are able to separate themselves from earthly experience, but to others it is an empty concept, for their souls simply do not realize that they can lead a life apart from the earthly, which seems much more appealing and purposeful to them. Only when the soul releases the spirit within itself can it initiate the soul into the splendours of the spiritual kingdom, and then the soul will likewise strive to ascend, that is, it will longingly desire the results of the spiritual flight upwards, into the spiritual kingdom. For it recognizes the value of what the spirit tries to convey to it, it recognizes it and tries to make itself worthy of the attention from the spiritual kingdom.... Thus the human being now consciously strives for realization, for light, and the conscious striving also brings him light, the human being becomes knowledgeable and his earthly life brings him the right success.... the higher development of his soul, which is the purpose and goal of earthly life....
