Het bereiken van het kindschap Gods vereist het loskomen van de wereld

Alles zult u kunnen bereiken wanneer u maar de ernstige wil zult opbrengen. Want dan zult u ook onmetelijke kracht kunnen ontvangen om uit te voeren wat u zult willen. Maar juist uw wil is zwak en de wereld houdt u nog veel meer gevangen dan dat u bereid zou zijn alles op te geven. Maar wilt u het kindschap Gods nog op aarde bereiken, dan is daar een volledig overwinnen van de wereld voor nodig. U zult u helemaal van de materie moeten hebben losgemaakt, wat echter niet betekent dat u zich als kluizenaar zult moeten terugtrekken in de woestijn. U zult ook midden in de wereld kunnen staan en toch de materie helemaal hebben overwonnen, want met haar om te gaan betekent niet haar te begeren. Want de aardse plichtsvervulling hoeft geen hindernis te zijn voor de positieve ontwikkeling van de ziel, wanneer ze een dienst is aan de medemensen en wanneer deze dienst niet alleen verricht wordt vanwege aards gewin, dat dus het verkrijgen van materiële goederen de aanleiding is voor de werkzaamheid die de mens verricht.

Ook het bezit van een mens is geen hindernis voor de totale vergeestelijking, wanneer het weer wordt gebruikt voor dienende, onbaatzuchtige naastenliefde. Maar wordt op de eerste plaats de eigenliefde bevredigd, dan is ook de weg naar de vergeestelijking nog heel lang. Dan is het streven naar het hoogste doel nog niet serieus en dus de wil te zwak, wat ook het ontbreken van kracht tot gevolg heeft.

Het hangt dus van u mensen zelf af of u in korte tijd nog het doel zult bereiken. Er kan u een heel leven ter beschikking staan en u komt geen stap verder, maar u zult u ook in zeer korte tijd kunnen voltooien, wanneer dit uw ernstig streven is, omdat het u dan ook waarlijk niet aan kracht zal ontbreken. En zodra u een weten wordt gegeven dat u ook een overmaat van genaden verzekert, zult u ook heel bewust naar uw voltooiing kunnen streven, wat echter steeds vereist dat u zich losmaakt van de wereld. In hoeverre u daartoe gewillig bent, bepaalt ook uw capaciteit. Want de ernstige wil waarborgt u ook de toevoer van kracht.

Maar u mensen verwacht altijd nog teveel van uw leven. U koestert nog zo veel wensen en bent niet bereid deze op te geven. U vertrouwt Mij ook nog niet onbeperkt, daar u anders niet zou betwijfelen dat Ik u ook door het leven op aarde heen leid, dat u geen nood hoeft te lijden wanneer Ik zie dat uw zielenheil voor u prioriteit heeft en u afstand neemt van aardse wensen. Want Ik alleen ben het Die u geven maar ook ontnemen kan, Die u ook rijkelijk voorziet wanneer u bereid bent Mij een offer te brengen, want u zult er waarlijk niet onder lijden. Want wat het lichaam vrijwillig ontbeert, dat wint de ziel duizendvoudig. En wanneer u overweegt dat u alle aardse goederen zult moeten opgeven wanneer uw ziel het lichaam zal verlaten, dat u niets mee naar boven zult kunnen nemen behalve alleen uw geestelijk gewin, dan zult u ook de waardeloosheid van aardse goederen inzien en proberen u daarvan los te maken ter wille van geestelijk voordeel.

Maar Ik kan u niet dwingen afstand te doen. Ik kan u alleen bijstaan doordat Ik u afneem wat nog hinderlijk voor u is, of doordat Ik u zoveel hindernissen in de weg stel dat u vrijwillig opgeeft wat niet nuttig is voor uw zielenheil. En dit onderscheid tussen "plichtsvervulling" en "eigen verlangen naar de goederen van de wereld" zult u ernstig moeten proberen vast te stellen. En voelt u zich helemaal vrij van het laatste, dan zult u ook waarlijk het laatste doel kunnen bereiken op aarde, kind van God te worden. Want in overeenstemming met de ernst van uw willen en streven, zal zich dan ook het verloop van uw leven ontwikkelen, u altijd de grootste mogelijkheden biedend om de hoogste doelen te bereiken. Maar aan kracht zal het u niet ontbreken, omdat u dan in mijn wil opgaat en uw terugkeer naar Mij verzekerd is.

Attainment of sonship with God requires detachment from the world....

You can achieve everything if only you muster the serious will, for then you will also be able to receive unmeasured strength to carry out what you want.... Yet precisely your will is weak and the world still holds you too captive to be willing to surrender everything.... But if you want to attain childship to God while still on earth, this requires a complete overcoming of the world.... You must have completely detached yourselves from matter, which, however, does not mean that you should withdraw into the desert as a hermit.... You can also stand in the midst of the world and yet have completely overcome matter, for to deal with it does not mean to desire it. For the earthly fulfilment of duty need not be an obstacle to the soul's ascent if it is a service to fellow human beings and if this service is not carried out solely for the sake of earthly gain, that is, if the human being's activity is motivated by the acquisition of material goods. Even a person's possessions are no obstacle to complete spiritualisation if they are used again for serving, unselfish neighbourly love.... But if self-love is satisfied first, then the path to spiritualisation is still very long, then the striving for the highest goal is not yet serious and thus the will is too weak, which also results in a lack of strength.... It is therefore up to you humans yourselves whether you still reach the goal in a short time.... You can have a whole life at your disposal and not get any further.... But you can also complete yourselves in a very short time if this is your serious endeavour, because then you will truly not lack strength. And as soon as you are given knowledge which also assures you an abundance of blessings you can now also consciously strive for perfection, which, however, always requires you to detach yourselves from the world. The extent to which you are willing to do so is also determined by your ability, for the serious will assures you the supply of strength. You humans, however, still expect too much from your life, you still harbour various desires and are not willing to relinquish them.... Nor do you trust Me unreservedly as yet, otherwise you would not doubt that I will also guide you through earthly life, that you need not suffer hardship.... if I recognize that your soul's salvation is of utmost importance to you and you distance yourselves from earthly desires.... For it is I alone Who can give to you but also take away.... Who also provides for you most abundantly if you are willing to make a sacrifice to Me.... For you will truly not come to any harm, for what the body voluntarily relinquishes the soul gains a thousandfold.... And if you consider that you have to give up all earthly goods when your soul relies on your body.... that you cannot take anything over but only your spiritual gain, then you will also realise the worthlessness of earthly goods and try to free yourselves from them for the sake of spiritual advantage. But I cannot force you to renounce, I can only help you by taking away what still hinders you or by placing so many obstacles in your way that you voluntarily give up what is not helpful for your soul's salvation. And you must seriously try to establish this difference between 'fulfilment of duty' and 'your own desire for the world's goods', and if you feel completely free of the latter then you can truly also reach the final goal on this earth, to attain childship to God, for the course of your life will then also be shaped according to the seriousness of your will and striving, always offering you the highest opportunities to reach the highest goals.... But you will not lack strength because then you will enter into My will and your return to Me will be assured....
