Catastrofen in de natuur en hun geestelijke verklaring

De aarde is in eeuwigdurende omwenteling om zichzelf en blijft nooit onbeweeglijk stilstaan. Dit is ook de verklaring voor de ontwikkeling van de aarde uit de oorspronkelijk vloeibare massa tot het vaste lichaam aarde, dat verblijfplaats is geworden van levende wezens van allerlei aard. Maar de kern van de aarde is nog steeds vloeibaar en ook niet geschikt als verblijfplaats voor welk levend wezen dan ook, totdat deze gestold is.

Breekt zich nu door erupties deze vloeibare massa een baan naar de oppervlakte, dan is dit van dezelfde betekenis als een totale vernietiging van alle levende wezens op deze oppervlakte. En daarom zijn zulke uitbarstingen gevreesd door mens en dier, omdat dit hun algehele vernietiging met zich meebrengt. De goddelijke wijsheid laat ze daarom in gevallen van uiterste noodzaak toe, dat wil zeggen aan elke uitbarsting moet eerst de wil Gods voorafgaan, voordat hij kan plaatsvinden. En dit is gegrond op Zijn liefde en wijsheid.

De krachten in het binnenste der aarde moeten aan één stuk door actief zijn, want dit werkzaam zijn betekent voor de aarde - dat wil zeggen voor alle wezens op het aardoppervlak - mogelijkheid van leven. Want zodra de aarde helemaal is gestold, houdt elke plantengroei op. Deze innerlijke werkzaamheid van de geestelijke krachten is dus al een zeker dienen, om het geestelijke te verlossen. En daarom moet er aan deze krachten eveneens eenmaal de mogelijkheid worden gegeven, hun gang over de aarde te beginnen om zich te ontwikkelen, ofschoon ondenkbare tijden moeten voorbijgaan, voordat dit geestelijke de wisseling van vorm op aarde kan beginnen.

Elke natuurcatastrofe kan dus voor het hoogst ontwikkelde geestelijke wezen, de mens, een einde van zijn levensweg op aarde zijn. Maar het is tegelijkertijd voor het helemaal onrijpe geestelijke het begin van een periode op aarde van weer onvoorstelbaar lange tijd, en daarom als door God gewild te beschouwen. Elke schepping dient alleen het doel het geestelijke positief te ontwikkelen.

Wordt nu van menselijke zijde een positieve ontwikkeling van de ziel niet meer nagestreefd; wordt het doel en de zin van het aardse leven buiten beschouwing gelaten, dan beëindigt God dit leven en geeft Hij tegelijkertijd het geestelijke, dat aan het begin van zijn ontwikkeling staat, de mogelijkheid van een zich voortzettende ontwikkeling. Hij vernietigt in zekere zin, om door het werk van vernietiging nieuwe scheppingen te laten ontstaan, die weer het geestelijke in zich bergen, waaraan de genade van de gang over de aarde werd toegekend. Want waar Gods liefde en wijsheid aan het werk is, gebeurt niets zonder zin of doel.

Disasters in nature and their spiritual explanation....

The earth is in perpetual rotation around itself and never stays in immobility. This is also the explanation for the development of the earth from the original liquid mass to the solid earth body, which now has become whereabouts for creatures of all kinds. The divine wisdom allows therefore those only in cases of extreme necessity, this means, first the will of God must precede by each outbreak, before it can take place, and this is justified in His love and wisdom.... The forces within the earth must be constantly active, because this activity means for the earth, that means for all beings on the surface of earth, possibility of life, as well as the earth is total solidified, any vegetation stops. This inner activity of spiritual forces is thus already a certain serving for the redemption of the spiritual, and therefore it must also even be given the possibility to these forces, to begin their course of development on earth, even though immemorial time must pass, before this spiritual can begin the change of form on earth. Every natural disaster can also be an end of the career on earth for the most higly developed being, for the human, but it is at the same time the beginning of an earth period of incomprehensible long time again for the very immature spiritual, and therefore to be regarded as God’s will. All creation is only for the purpose, to develop the spiritual to the height.... If now a higher development of the soul is no longer aimed by the humans, the purpose and the aim of earth life are disregarded, so God ends this life and at the same time He gives the possibility of an ongoing development for the spiritual, standing in the beginning of development.... He annihilates as it were, to let raise up new creations through the work of destruction, which involve the spiritual in itself again, to that one was granted the grace of going on earth. Because nothing happens without sense and purpose, where God’s love and wisdom reigns....
