Het dragen van het kruis in geduld "HEER, Uw Wil geschiedde"

Keer in uw binnenste en zie uw zwakheden in en vraag de HEER om Zijn bijstand, dan zal ook uw kracht sterker worden en het zal u lukken in zachtmoedigheid en geduld de beproevingen van het leven te verdragen. De Wil van de HEER zendt u deze toch alleen maar tot uw eigen begunstiging. Zelden zal een mens zich zonder te morren voegen in het lijden dat boven hem hangt en toch is juist dät een gewillig onderwerpen aan GOD's Wil wanneer de mens blij en dankbaar al het leed uit de Hand van de VADER in ontvangst neemt en zo alleen steeds alles als het juiste voor zijn zieleheil inziet.

Wanneer de smart groter wordt, legt de Heiland u een klein kruis op dat u uit liefde tot HEM moet dragen. Zulke dagen zullen de ziel oneindig gelukkig maken, want wat het lichaam geduldig verdraagt is afgenomen van de ziel en haar staat wordt steeds vrijer. Het lichamelijke leed is de grootste hulp voor de ziel, en draagt de mens zoiets met vreugde, dan is de ziel hem dankbaar en neemt van haar kant weer elke gelegenheid waar, waarin ze het lichaam kan bijstaan door innerlijke aanwijzingen tot welzijn van de mens bij aardse activiteiten. Al het leed zal alleen maar 'n veredelende uitwerking hebben, wanneer het de mens niet verbittert tegen HEM DIE dit leed over hem zendt en daarom is het steeds alleen heilzaam voor de ziel van de mens.

En is de verleiding groot om in opstand te komen tegen de Wil van GOD, denk dan aan het lijden van de HEER aan het kruis. Hoe onuitsprekelijk smartelijk was zijn dood en hoe berustend nam de Heiland al het leed op Zijn schouders uit Liefde voor de zondige mensheid: En als u dit voor ogen houdt, dan zult u ook uw kleine kruis willen dragen, want de HEER legt het u niet zwaarder op dan u in staat bent het te dragen. En de ware liefde tot de Heiland verzoet al het leed voor u.

Eens zal er u een lichtje opgaan hoe het met het leed is gesteld en uw ziel zal jubelen wanneer u op aarde gewillig was en u grote verdiensten hebt verworven door het dragen van het leed wat een bovenmate weldadige uitwerking heeft in de geestelijke wereld. De duur van het leven laadt u wel zoveel op de hals, dat het u vooreerst onoverwinnelijk toeschijnt en u mort tegen GOD en wilt in opstand komen tegen Zijn heiligste Wil, maar de Liefde GOD's zal u spoedig iets anders leren.

Ze zal u laten inzien dat het alleen voor uw bestwil is, wanneer HIJ u bedenkt met leed, en het bestaan op aarde zal u 'n rijk loon opleveren als u dit hebt ingezien. Bid daarom steeds uit het diepst van uw hart: "HEER Uw Wil geschiede" en uw leed zal veranderen in vreugde en met dank zult u het loon in ontvangst nemen, dat u eens in de eeuwigheid schadeloos stelt voor al het leed op aarde.

Patiently bearing the cross.... 'Lord, Your will be done...'

Look within yourself and recognise your failings and appeal to the Lord for His help, then you will grow in strength and succeed in enduring all tests of life gently and with patience. After all, the Lord's will only sends these to you for your own advancement.... A person will rarely submit to the suffering imposed on him without grumbling, and yet precisely this is a willing submission to God's will, when the human being gladly and gratefully accepts all suffering from the Father's hand and so only ever acknowledges that whatever happens will be right for his soul's salvation. When the pain increases, the Saviour is placing a small cross upon you which, for His sake, you should carry patiently. Such days will make the soul infinitely happy, for whatever is tolerantly carried by the body is removed from the soul and it will enter an increasingly more liberated state. The body's suffering is the soul's greatest help, and if the human being bears it gladly, the soul will be grateful for it and, in turn, will use every opportunity to help the body through inner suggestions which benefit the human being's earthly work. All suffering will only have an ennobling effect if it does not cause bitterness in the person against the One Who inflicts this suffering upon him, and thus it will only ever benefit the person's soul. And if the temptation is great to revolt against God's will, then remember the Lord's suffering on the cross.... How unspeakably painful was His death, and how humbly did the Saviour accept all suffering upon His shoulders out of love for the sinful human race. If you bear this in mind, then you will also gladly carry you small cross, for the Lord will not impose anything upon you that you are incapable of carrying. And the right love for the Saviour will sweeten your every suffering.... One day the significance of suffering will dawn on you and your soul will rejoice, if you were willing on earth and gained many merits through the bearing of suffering, which has an extraordinary effect in the spiritual world. Your lifetime on earth certainly burdens you with much which seems insurmountable to you at first, and thus you quarrel with God and want to object to His most sacred will; nevertheless, God's love will soon teach you otherwise.... it will let you realise that it is only in your best interest when He allows you to suffer, and your earthly existence will be richly rewarded if you have realised it. Therefore, always pray from the bottom of your heart 'Lord, Your will be done....' and your suffering will turn into joy.... and you will gratefully accept the reward which, one day in eternity, will compensate you for all the suffering on earth....
