긍휼히 여기는 일. 심장을 강퍅하게 하지 말라.

사람들이 너희에게 행하기 원하는 일을 마찬가지로 사람들에게 행하라. 항상 도움을 필요로 하는 이웃의 입장에 서라. 너희가 이런 고난 가운데 도움을 받았다면 너희가 얼마나 감사할 것인지 생각하고 너희의 힘이 닫는 대로 행하라. 그러면 그런 일이 내 눈 앞에 올바른 일이 될 것이다. 그러나 너희가 고난 가운데 있는 형제를 차갑게 대하면 너희 심장이 이미 강퍅해진 것이고 그러면 너희가 하늘나라에 들어가기가 어렵게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 너희에게 사랑이 없기 때문이고 그러면 너희가 내 계명을 성취시키지 못하기 때문이고 너희의 혼이 성숙할 수 없고 성품의 변화가 일어나지 않기 때문이다. 그러나 성품을 변화시키는 일이 너희의 이 땅의 삶의 목적이요 목표이다.

이웃의 고난이 실제 이웃 자신의 잘못 때문 일 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 너희는 이웃을 도와야 한다. 왜냐면 너희 자신도 죄에 빠질 수 있고 이를 통해 고난에 빠질 수 있고 너희가 불행하다고 느끼기 때문에 너희가 또한 내 사랑과 긍휼을 요구할 것이기 때문이다. 너희 심장이 강퍅해지고 불쌍히 여기지 않고 위험에 처한 사람들을 지나치면 너희는 생각으로 너희 자신을 같은 고통의 상태에 두라. 그러면 얼음이 녹을 것이고 너희가 아직 변화될 수 있다면 긍휼의 물결이 너희를 덮치게 될 것이다.

너희 모두가 같은 위험한 상황에 처할 수 있다는 것을 알라. 너희 자신이 너희의 운명을 스스로 정하지 않는다는 것을 알라. 그러므로 내가 너희의 양육을 위해 너희에게 일어나기 원하는 일을 너희가 피할 수 없다는 것을 알라. 오늘 너희의 이웃에게 일어난 일이 내일은 이미 너희 자신의 운명이 될 수 있고 너희가 도움을 기대한다면 너희 이웃에게 도움을 주라. 그러면 너희는 실제 잘하게 될 것이다. 너희 자신을 우월하다고 느끼지 말고 너희가 세상적으로 형편이 더 낮거나 너희 자신의 운명을 더 잘 다스리는 것처럼 보이기 때문에 이웃을 무시하지 말라. 왜냐면 그러면 너희가 이전에 이해하기를 원하지 않았던 것을 느끼도록 내가 너희가 같은 상황에 빠지게 만들기 때문이다. 심장을 강퍅하게 하지 말라. 모든 고난에 동참하고 도움을 주려고 시도하라.

왜냐면 너희가 주고 너희가 나눠준 것을 풍성하게 돌려받기 때문이다. 너희는 받는 사람의 심장을 얻고 좋은 생각이 너희를 뒤따르고 사랑으로 너희를 기억하는 일이 너희가 너희 혼의 성숙을 위한 힘으로 느끼게 되는 일이 너희의 가장 큰 이득이다. 항상 내 말씀을 기억하라: "너희가 가장 작은 형제들에게 행한 일은 나에게 행한 일이다." 그러면 너희가 고난을 줄이는 일이 쉽게 될 것이다. 너희가 이제 무엇보다도 하나님을 사랑하면 너희는 또한 이웃 사랑을 하는 일에 실패하지 않을 것이다. 너희는 내 계명을 성취시키고 너희의 혼을 성숙하게 할 것이다.

Mercy.... do not harden your hearts....

Whatever you want people to do to you, do it to them. Always put yourselves in your fellow human being's position of need and think of how grateful you would be if you were helped out of this adversity, and then act according to your strength and it will be right in My eyes. But if your brother's adversity leaves you cold, then your heart will already be hardened and then it will be difficult for you to enter the kingdom of heaven, for then you will be without love, then you will not fulfil My commandments and your soul will not be able to mature.... the change of nature will not take place, but this is the purpose and aim of your earthly life. Your fellow human being's adversity can certainly also be your fault and yet you should help him, for you yourselves can also fall into sin and thereby become adversity, and you will also make use of My love and mercy because you feel unhappy.... If your heart is hardened, if you pass by a person in distress indifferently, mentally place yourselves in the same predicament.... and the ice will melt, a wave of mercy will flood over you, if you are still able to change at all.... For know that you can all get into the same predicament; know that you do not determine your own fate and that you therefore cannot avert from yourselves what I want to bring upon you for the purpose of your education.... What concerns your neighbour today can already be your own fate tomorrow, and if you expect help then also give it to your neighbour and you will do well by it.... Don't think self-righteously, don't feel exalted and don't look down on your fellow human being because you are earthly better off or seem to master fate better.... For then you cause Me to put you in the same position so that you feel what you did not want to understand before.... Do not harden your hearts.... but let yourselves be touched by every adversity and seek help. For you give and receive back abundantly what you have given out. And you win the hearts of those you give to, and that is your greatest gain, that good thoughts follow you, that you are remembered with love, which your soul feels as strength to mature itself. And always remember My words: "Whatever you do to the least of your brothers, you have done to Me." Then it will be easy for you to alleviate hardship.... And as you now love God above all things, you will not fail to love your neighbour either.... and you will fulfil My commandments and mature in your soul....
