사람과 하나님 사이의 간격을 메우는 일.

사람이 스스로 하나님께 더 가까이 다가가려고 노력하지 않는 한, 인간과 하나님과의 사이의 간격은 극복할 수 없다. 사람이 이를 깨닫지 못하면, 간격을 줄일 수 없다. 그는 자신이 하나님과 연결되어 있음을 느끼지 못하고, 하나님으로부터 멀리 떨어진 것도 느끼지 못한다. 왜냐면 그가 창조주와 그의 피조물 사이의 연관관계를 깨닫지 못하기 때문이다. 그러므로 그는 하나님을 대적하는 상태를 변화시키기 위한 아무 일도 하지 않고, 하나님과 분리된 것을 느끼지 못한다. 왜냐면 그가 원래 초기에 하나님과 연결되어 있었다고 여기지 않기 때문이다.

이런 무지한 상태는 인간의 혼에게 아주 해롭다. 왜냐면 혼이 이런 무지를 벗어나려고 노력하지 않고, 무지한 가운데 행복하게 느끼기 때문이다. 이 간격은 좁아지는 것이 아니라 오히려 커진다. 왜냐면 하나님과 연결되어 있다고 느끼지 않는 사람은 또한 사랑의 삶을 살지 않고, 그러므로 지식에 도달하지 못하기 때문이다. 그는 모든 가르침을 거부하고, 조롱하고, 희롱하면서 간격을 극복하기 위한 아무런 일도 하지 않는다.

그러므로 그런 사람들이 구원을 받을 수 있게 해주는 일은 어렵다. 왜냐하면 그들이 인간의 입으로 말한 하나님의 말씀을 거부하기 때문이다. 그들은 주변에서 일어나는 일에 주의를 기울이지 않거나, 그런 일이 가진 의미를 중요하게 여기지 않는다. 결과적으로 그들은 영적 성장에서 뒤쳐진다. 왜냐하면 불가피하게 하나님이 자신의 능력으로 그들 안에서 역사해야만 하지만, 그러나 하나님을 향한 의지와 소망으로 하나님께 향하는 다리를 형성하지 않는 곳에서는, 이런 일이 절대로 일어나지 않기 때문이다. 이 사람들은 실제 이 땅의 삶을 살게 될 것이지만, 그러나 그들의 삶은 영적 성공을 할 수 없다. 왜냐면 그들의 삶이 하나님과 완전히 분리되어 있고, 세상을 향하고, 어떤 영적인 추구도 하지 않기 때문이다. 그들은 이 땅의 삶이 마지막에 가서 그들이 인간으로 이 땅에서 육신을 입기 시작했을 때와 똑같이 하나님으로부터 멀리 떨어져 있게 된다.

하나님은 겉보기에 자신을 완전히 뒤로 물러나게 하면서, 다시 말해 사람들을 스스로 선택한 어두움 속에 남겨두고, 그들이 자신의 존재의 증거로써 역사를 기대할 때까지 자신을 표현하지 않으면서, 이런 상태를 치료하려고 한다. 그들이 자신의 존재의 증거로써 역사를 기대하면 하나님은 그들에게 증거를 준다. 그러나 그들이 만족하지 못할 정도로 준다. 하나님은 사람들에게 자신의 권세를 증명하지만, 그들의 자유의지를 제한하지 않기 위해, 그들이 영향을 받지 못하게 한다. 사람은 그가 인정하기를 원하지 않았던 권세와 연결을 이루려고 노력해야만 한다. 그러면 그는 절벽을 건너게 하는 다리를 놓은 것이고, 그러면 하나님 자신이 비로소 그에게 자신을 드러내고, 그에게 힘과 은혜를 주고, 그가 성장하도록 도울 수 있다.

Bridging the gap between man and God....

The gulf between man and God is unbridgeable as long as he himself does not make an effort to come closer to Him. The distance cannot be reduced if the human being is not aware of it. However, he neither feels connected to God nor distant from Him because he does not recognize the connection between the creator and His creatures, and consequently he does nothing to change a state which is contrary to God.... He feels no separation from God because he does not believe himself to be originally united with Him. And this ignorant state is so extremely detrimental to the human being's soul. For it does not strive to escape it, but feels at ease in it. And the gulf does not narrow but rather widens because the human being, who does not feel connected to God, does not lead a life of love either and therefore does not attain knowledge. And he rejects all advice, he ridicules and mocks it and does not do the slightest to bridge the gap. And therefore salvation can hardly be brought to these people, for they reject divine words spoken through human mouths; they do not pay attention to the events around them or do not attach the significance to them which it has; consequently, they remain behind in their spiritual development. For God must inevitably work in them with His strength, but this is completely impossible where the will and the desire for God do not form a bridge to Him. These people will certainly complete their earthly life but will not be able to demonstrate spiritual success, for their life will be completely separate from God, turned towards the world and without any spiritual endeavour. And at the end of their earthly life they are still just as distant from God as they were at the beginning of their embodiment on earth as a human being. God tries to remedy this state by seemingly isolating Himself completely, i.e., He leaves people in their self-chosen darkness and does not express Himself until they expect a sign from Him as proof of His existence.... And then He sends them this sign, but in a way that is not very satisfying for them.... He proves His power to people but otherwise leaves them untouched so as not to restrict their free will. And the human being must try to connect himself with the power which he did not want to recognize. Only then will he build a bridge across the gulf and only then can God Himself show Himself to him, give him strength and grace and help him to ascend....
