하나님의 말씀을 주는 일은 긍휼의 역사.

하나님의 말씀을 사람들에게 전해주는 하나님의 특별한 역사는 자신의 피조물을 향한 하나님의 무한한 사랑을 증거한다. 왜냐면 이런 역사는 인류가 이미 하나님이 직접 말씀을 줄 수 없는 상태에 있기 때문에 가장 큰 긍휼의 역사이기 때문이다. 사람들이 하나님의 뜻대로 살고, 이로써 하나님을 향해 있다면, 사람이 의식적으로 하나님께 헌신하는 일이 하나님의 말씀을 받기 위한 전제 조건이기 때문에, 그들은 또한 하나님의 말씀을 들을 수 있다.

그러나 현재 인류는 하나님과 멀리 떨어져 있어서 하나님의 음성을 들을 수 없다. 인류와 하나님과의 간격이 너무 커서, 하나님의 말씀을 들을 수 있기 위해 필요한 연결을 더 이상 이룰 수 없다. 영적인 상태가 너무나 저조해서, 하나님의 사랑이 인류에게 마지막 도움을 주기 위해 긍휼을 베풀기를 원하지 않는다면, 하나님이 이런 특별한 역사를 일으키지 않았을 것이다. 하나님은 이 일을 위해 중재자의 의지가 자신에게 향하고 있고, 이웃사람들에게도 도움을 주기를 원하는 중재자를 사용한다. 왜냐면 하나님을 향한 의지가 그에게 이웃 사람들의 영적인 위험한 상황을 알게 해주기 때문이다.

그러므로 하나님은 드러나게 역사하고, 인류에게 그들이 변하지 않고, 자신에게 더 가까이 다가가려고 노력하지 않는다면, 그들이 어떤 어려움이 기다리고 있는 지를 설득력이 있게 알려준다. 왜냐면 자신의 피조물을 향한 하나님의 사랑이 무한하기 때문이다. 하나님은 그들을 구원하려고 하고, 그들에게 이 땅의 삶의 목적을 선명하게 이해할 수 있게 알려주고, 그들이 세상적인 삶은 겉보기의 화려함을 피하고, 그들이 이 땅에 머무르는 동안 혼의 진정한 빛을 얻게 만들려고 시도한다. 그러므로 하나님은 그들에게 그들의 의지와는 반대로 자신의 말을 준다. 이 때문에 하나님은 또한 사람들에게 자신의 말을 거부할 수 있는 정도의 선택의 자유를 줘야만 하고, 말씀을 받아들이는 일이 강요가 되지 않는 형태로 말씀이 제공돼야만 한다.

그렇지 않으면 하나님의 아주 큰 사랑이 자신의 혼을 구원하기 위해 말씀을 모든 개인에게 주었을 것이다. 그러나 이런 일은 인간의 자유의지 때문에 불가능한 일이다. 그렇지 않으면 하나님이 자신의 법을 어기고, 자기 자신에 대항하여 행하게 되었을 것이다. 그러나 사람의 사랑이 인류와 하나님을 연결시키는 다리를 만들 수 있고, 이 다리를 건너, 하나님의 말씀을 잘 이해하게 되는 일은 모든 사람의 자유이다. 이 다리를 통해 하나님 자신이 이 땅으로 내려와 자신을 인류에게 드러낸다. 다시 말해 하나님이 인류에게 자신에 대한, 자신의 통치와 역사에 대한, 모든 각각의 사람들이 받은 사명과, 그의 시작과 목표에 대한 깨달음을 준다.

이에 대해 아는 일은 이해할 수 없는 은혜이다. 왜냐하면 이런 지식이, 인간이 온전해지고 평화의 나라에 들어가기 원한다면, 자신이 동인이 되어 해야 하는, 인간의 자신에 대한 작업을 말할 수 없을 정도로 쉽게 해주기 때문이다. 하나님의 사랑이 스스로 내려와, 인류에게 더 가까워지려고 시도한다. 비록 인류가 이미 세상과 세상의 재물을 향한 욕망을 통해 하나님의 대적자를 위한 결정을 했고, 이로써 자신을 하나님의 사랑에 합당하지 않게 만들었음에도 불구하고, 하나님의 사랑이 인류에게 다가간다. 그러나 하나님의 사랑은 절대로 중단되지 않고 영원히 자신에 의해 생성된 존재들을 향해 머문다.

Mediation of the divine word act of mercy....

God's extraordinary activity of imparting His word to people testifies to His infinite love for His living creations, for it is an act of greatest mercy since humanity is already in a state which excludes the direct attention of His word. As soon as people live according to His will and are therefore turned towards God they are also able to hear His word, for this is the prerequisite for receiving the divine word, that the human being consciously devotes himself to Him. However, humanity is currently so distant from God that it could never hear the voice of God. The distance from it to God is so great that such a connection can no longer be established which requires the ability to hear the divine word. The spiritual state has sunk so extraordinarily low that it would exclude such an extraordinary work if God's love did not want to have mercy in order to bring the last help to mankind. And for this purpose He uses a mediator whose will is turned towards Him and who likewise wants to help his fellow human beings.... For the will turned towards God also gives him the realization of the spiritual plight of his fellow human beings. And thus God is obviously at work and forcefully demonstrates to humanity what hardship awaits them if they do not change and endeavour to come closer to Him. For His love for His creatures is boundless.... He seeks to bring them salvation, He seeks to clearly and understandably reproach them with their purpose of life on earth and to determine them to avoid the illusory splendour of worldly life and to acquire the true light of the soul as long as they dwell on earth.... And thus He gives them His word against their will and therefore also has to leave people enough freedom of choice to be able to reject it, which is why the word has to be offered in a form which does not turn the acceptance of it into compulsion. His immense love would otherwise allow the word to reach every individual in order to save their soul, but this is impossible due to the human being's freedom of will, otherwise God would overturn His own laws and act against Himself.... A person's love, however, can build a bridge from humanity to God, and every person is free to enter this bridge and familiarize himself with the divine word. And on this bridge God Himself descends to earth and reveals Himself to humanity, i.e., He gives it knowledge of Himself, His reign and activity and the destiny of every individual person, his beginning and his goal. And the knowledge of this is such an incomprehensible grace, for it makes it unspeakably easier for people to work on themselves, which they should tackle of their own accord if they want to become perfect and enter the kingdom of peace.... divine love descends Itself and tries to bring Itself closer to humanity, It comes to meet it even though it has already decided in favour of God's adversary through its desire for the world and its goods and thereby makes itself unworthy of God's love.... Yet His love never ceases and remains eternally turned towards that which has emerged from Him....
