하나님을 거역하는 의지의 결과.

사람의 의지가 자신이 아무리 지혜롭고 강력하다고 여길지라도, 인간의 의지는 하나님의 의지에 대항할 힘이 없다. 하나님의 질서에 개입하는 모든 일은 스스로 처벌을 받는다. 왜냐면 인간의 의지가 하나님의 의지에 저항하기 때문이다. 이런 일은 그의 의지를 통해 그 자신에게 고통과 고난이 임하게 하는 결과를 초래한다. 사람이 자신이 시작하거나 추구한 일로 인해 자주 고통을 겪어야만 하는 일은 우연이 아니다. 그는 자주 자신의 의지를 통해 하나님의 뜻을 거스르는 일을 해왔고, 그는 이제 자신에게 미치는 결과를 느껴야만 한다.

인간이 더 이상 하나님의 뜻을 존중하지 않으면, 인간이 자신의 자유를 잘못 사용하여 하나님의 질서를 위반하는 행동을 하면, 이로써 인간 자신에게 극도로 고통스러운 상황을 초래하게 되면, 이런 상태가 이 땅에서 만연하게 된다. 하나님은 자신의 뜻이 무시되는 일을 용납하지 않는다. 하나님은 인간의 의지를 막지 않지만, 그러나 당연히 하나님의 뜻에 어긋나는 일이 선한 일이 될 수 없는 일은 이해할 수 있는 일이다. 선하지 못한 일이 그의 효과의 측면에서도 사람들에게 유익할 수 없다.

결과적으로 사람은 자신의 하느님을 대적하는 의지를 통해 자신에게 영적으로나 세상적으로 해를 끼친다. 하나님의 뜻에 주의를 기울이지 않으면, 영적인 퇴보가 일어나고, 이제 영적 퇴보를 막거나, 해결하기 위해 하나님은 세상의 고난을 해결하는 수단으로 사용해야만 한다. 인간은 그런 수단 앞에 무력하고, 그가 하나님의 뜻을 성취하려고 할 때, 즉 자신의 영적으로 저조한 상태를 깨닫고, 이를 고치려고 할 때, 이를 줄일 수 있다. 그러면 그의 의지가 더 이상 하나님의 의지에 대항하지 않고, 그는 하나님의 질서에 따라 살고, 그로 인해 고통의 상태가 줄어들게 된다. 이런 고통의 상태는 단지 하나님을 대적한 그의 의지의 결과이다.

Effect of the God-opposing will....

Man's will is powerless against God's will, no matter how wise and powerful he believes himself to be. Every intervention in the divine order punishes itself, for then the human will is directed against the divine will, and the result is that such an action has an effect on the human being himself in that suffering and hardship come upon him through his will. It is no coincidence that the human being often has to suffer from what he himself has caused or striven for. For he has often worked against God's will through his own will and he must now feel the effect of this on himself. And this state is currently predominant on earth, that the human will no longer respects divine will.... that it abuses its freedom for actions which violate divine order and that this results in conditions which are extremely painful for the human being himself. God does not tolerate His will being disregarded. He does not hinder the will of man, but understandably something cannot be good which is contrary to the divine will. And what is not good cannot benefit man in its effect either. Consequently, man harms himself through his will that is contrary to God.... And this both spiritually and earthly.... A spiritual decline can be observed if God's will is disregarded, and earthly adversity must now be used as an antidote by God in order to stop the spiritual decline or to remedy it. And the human being is powerless against such and he can only reduce it when he tries to fulfil God's will, that is, when he recognizes his spiritual low and tries to remedy it. Then his will no longer opposes the divine will; he lives in the divine order and consequently also reduces the state of suffering, which was only the effect of his will directed against God....
