저 세상의 완고한 혼들의 운명.... 영의 친구의 가르침.... 기록하는 일에 참여하는 혼들....

하늘의 아버지와 연결을 이루지 못한 채 이 땅의 골짜기를 떠난 사람들의 혼들은 극심한 고난 가운데 거한다. 그들은 무엇을 해야 하고 무엇을 하지 말아야 할지를 모르고, 자기 비난과 악한 생각으로 자신을 괴롭힌다. 그들은 자신의 운명에 반항하고, 이런 슬픈 상황에 처하게 된 책임이 자신에게 있음을 인정하기를 원하지 않는다. 혼이 그의 고통의 상태에 더 많이 굴복할수록, 더 빨리 해방될 가능성이 있다. 왜냐하면 더 높은 영의 존재가 가장 작은 선한 움직임을 깨닫고 이제 혼의 상태를 개선하기 위해 필요한 지식을 혼에게 제공함으로써 쉽게 만들어주려고 하기 때문이다.

이런 경고와 지식을 활용하는 일은 고통을 당하는 혼의 선한 의지에 달려 있다. 그럴지라도 자신의 의지가 너무 강한 곳에서는 자원하여 사랑하고 도우려는 영의 친구들의 노력이 헛되게 될 것이고, 혼은 옛 억압을 받는 상태로 되돌아가 오랜 시간 동안 자신을 해방시킬 수 없게 된다. 왜냐하면 혼이 자신의 완고함으로 선하고 귀한 것으로 깨닫지 못하는 모든 선하고 고귀한 것에 대항해 여전히 계속하여 싸우고 있기 때문이다.

밤의 가장 깊은 어두움속에 머무는 사람은 이런 불쌍한 혼들의 운명을 대략적으로 이해할 수 있게 될 것이다. 혼들은 두려움과 공포에 시달리고, 마음은 참을 수 없을 정도로 우울해진다. 혼들이 빛을 찾지만, 빛을 찾을 수 없다. 이 땅과 친밀함이 혼들을 굳게 붙잡고 있고, 혼들은 주로 이 땅의 삶에서 머물렀던 곳에 머물러 있는다. 왜냐하면 그들이 먼저 그들과 가까웠던 사람들이 머무는 곳에서 도움을 받기를 희망하기 때문이다. 왜냐하면 그들은 종종 그들이 이미 이 땅을 떠난 지가 오래되었다는 것을 알지 못하는 경우가 많기 때문이다. 그들은 모든 노력이 실패하고 사람들이 자신들의 필요를 무시하는 것으로 인해 단지 비통해 한다. 오랜 시간이 지난 후에 그들은 비로소 자신들의 욕망이 성취 불가능함을 깨닫게 된다.

이제 이런 지식으로부터 유익을 얻는 사람은, 불행한 상태에서 벗어나기 위해 모든 일을 하겠다는 확고한 결단을 하는 사람은 또한 곧 저 세상의 영의 친구들의 가르침을 통해 또는 저 세상에서 믿음을 갖고 있고 선한 의지를 가진 이 땅의 자녀에게 제공되는 가르침에 참여함을 통해 방법과 수단을 알게 될 것이다. 혼이 그러한 연결을 발견하면, 혼은 그런 이 땅의 자녀들 근처를 더 이상 벗어나지 않는다. 혼은 정말 탐욕스러운 식욕으로 모든 가르침을 받고, 이제 혼이 모든 방식으로 활용하는 가르침에 대해 감사한다.

그러므로 네가 너의 영적 일에 전념한다면, 그런 시간은 저 세상의 수많은 혼들에게 참으로 유익한 시간이다. 왜냐하면 그들은 너의 도움 없이는 말할 수 없을 정도로 고통스럽고, 그들이 빛으로 향하는 길에 도달하기 훨씬 더 어렵기 때문이다. 그러나 이런 식으로 그들이 자신들의 잘못으로 이 땅의 삶에서 놓친 것을 짧은 시간 내에 무한하게 많이 보충할 수 있다. 이로써 자신의 상태를 견딜 수 있는 상태로 만들고 나중에는 넘치게 축복된 상태로 만드는 일이 자신의 손에 달려 있음을 깨닫게 될수록, 그들은 점점 더 많은 지식을 얻게 될 것이고, 모든 가르침에 가장 열심히 순종하게 될 것이다. 그러므로 그들은 항상 단지 저 세상에서 너희에게 전해지는 모든 가르침을 활용하는 일에 관심을 기울이고 있다. 그들은 또한 그들에게 고난과 고통에서 구원해줄 수 있는 너의 내적인 혼의 상태와 너의 의지를 마찬가지로 돌본다.

The fate of hardened souls in the hereafter.... teachings of spiritual friends.... participation of souls in writings....

The souls of those who have left the valley of the earth without having established a connection with the heavenly father are in great distress. They know neither the end nor the beginning and torment themselves with self-reproach and bad thoughts. They rebel against their fate and do not want to admit to themselves that they themselves are to blame for this sad state. The more devotedly the soul resigns itself to its state of suffering, the more likely it is to be liberated from it, for the higher spiritual beings perceive the slightest good impulse and try to bring relief to the soul by giving it the necessary advice to improve its situation. And again, it is only up to the good will of the suffering soul to make use of these admonitions and hints.... However, where its own will is too strong, the efforts of these spiritual friends who are willing to love and help will also be in vain and the soul will fall back into its old oppressive state and will not be able to free itself from it for a long time, as it is still fighting against everything good and noble which it does not recognize as such in its stubbornness. Anyone who dwells in the darkest night will be able to roughly comprehend the fate of these poor.... fear and horror torment them, and their minds darken to the point of unbearability.... They seek light and cannot find it.... Proximity to the earth holds them fast, and they mainly stay where they stayed in earthly life.... For they first hope for help where those close to them dwell, for they are often still without realizing that they have long since left earth. They are only bitter that all their efforts are without success and that people do not pay attention to their need, and only after a long time do they realize the impossibility of their desire. And anyone who now derives the right benefit from this realization.... anyone who goes within himself and firmly resolves to do everything in order to be liberated from the unhappy state will also soon learn the ways and means through the instruction of the spiritual friends in the beyond or also by participating in the teachings offered from the beyond to earthly children who are faithful and of good will. Once the soul has discovered such a connection, it can no longer be removed from the vicinity of such earthly children.... It accepts all teachings with a real hunger and is now grateful for the advice it utilizes in every way. And so it is truly blessed hours for countless souls in the beyond when you devote yourself to your spiritual work.... For they suffer so unspeakably without your help and the path to the light is much more difficult for them to reach.... however, in a short time they can make up for infinitely much of what they neglected to do in earthly life through their own fault, and thus they become increasingly more knowledgeable and follow all admonitions most eagerly the more they realize that it is in their own hands to make their state bearable and later extremely happy. And thus they, too, are only ever anxious to make use of all instructions which are conveyed to you from the beyond, and their concern is likewise for your inner state of soul and your will, which can also bring them deliverance from their suffering and torment....
