L’ottundimento della voce interiore attraverso il rifiuto dello Spirito

Non dovete respingere lo spirito in voi, quando si vuole manifestare e vuole questo, quando siete spinti interiormente a pensieri spirituali, appena i vostri pensieri si occupano sempre di nuovo con ciò che non riguarda il vostro corpo, ma la vostra anima, appena dovete pensare alla morte, alla continuazione della vita dopo la morte, a Dio, ad una responsabilità dinanzi a Lui, alla vostra propria imperfezione, agli errori e debolezze, che voi stessi percepite come tali e che vi rendono interiormente insoddisfatti e timorosi. Tutte queste sono delle manifestazioni dello spirito in voi, che vorrebbe penetrare con la sua voce, che pretende la vostra attenzione verso tutte queste cose, che sono unicamente importanti per l’Eternità. Questi sono tutti dei pensieri che non si occupano con il mondo terreno, ma indicano il Regno spirituale ed a questi si deve badare, perché non sorgono inutilmente nell’uomo. Sono dei delicati ammonimenti ed avvertimenti, è la voce interiore che non è però riconoscibile all’uomo come voce e che gli dice la stessa cosa, che l’uomo deve pensare a sé stesso e non vivere indifferente, non deve soltanto condurre una vita terrena, perché con ciò causa indicibile danno alla sua anima.

L’ammonitore nell’uomo non tace, ma sovente non viene udito, perché la voce dall’esterno è più forte ed allora copre la voce interiore, quando i sensi dell’uomo sono troppo rivolti al mondo. Allora diventa in sensibile verso la voce delicata che risuona in lui, apre gli occhi e le orecchie soltanto ancora al mondo ed allora è in gran pericolo, perché perde del tutto la facoltà di sentire quella voce, perché perde ogni fede e non è più capace di concepire nessun pensiero spirituale.

Ogni uomo, anche l’uomo mondano che sta nel mezzo della vita, ha dei minuti silenziosi, in cui può riflettere su sé stesso se lo vuole. Ogni uomo a volte viene coinvolto in discorsi che toccano dei problemi spirituali; in ogni uomo cerca di manifestarsi lo spirito che è la Parte di Dio, perché Lui tocca tutti gli uomini e questo sempre di nuovo, perché vorrebbe distoglierlo dal puramente terreno e rivolgerlo allo spirituale.

Ma chi rifiuta lo spirito in sé, chi respinge da sé tutti i pensieri che lo toccano, chi si chiude ad ogni insegnamento dall’interiore, ostacola lo spirito in sé all’agire ed è causa del suo proprio danno, perché perde ogni collegamento con il Divino, egli stesso interrompe ogni ponte, rimane sulla Terra e non potrà mai entrare in sfere spirituali, persino quando la sua vita terrena sarà terminata, perché la sua anima è predisposta in modo così materiale, che non può abbandonare la sfera terrena, è indurita come la materia, che nella vita terrena era il suo pensare e tendere. E per quest’anima la via è infinitamente lunga, prima che possa giungere nella sfera dello Spirito, perché là è più difficile da percorrere che sulla Terra.

Dulling the inner voice by rejecting the spirit....

You should not resist the spirit if it wants to express itself.... and it wants to speak if you are inwardly urged to entertain spiritual thoughts, if your thoughts keep occupying themselves with that which does not concern your body but the soul.... if you have to think of death, of a continuation of life after death, of God, of your responsibility towards Him, of your own shortcomings, of mistakes and weaknesses, which you yourselves experience as such and which cause you to feel inwardly dissatisfied and anxious. All these are expressions of the spirit in you which would like its voice to be heard, which demands your attention regarding all these things, as they alone are of importance for eternity.... All these thoughts don't deal with the earthly world but point to the spiritual kingdom, and these thoughts ought to be heeded, for they don't arise in the human being for no reason. They are gentle admonitions and warnings, it is the inner voice which is just not recognised by a person as a voice and which tells him the same, that the person should take stock of himself and not live indifferently, that he should not merely live an earthly life because he thereby causes indescribable damage to his soul. The admonisher within the person will not keep silent but very often will be ignored, for the voice from outside is louder and drowns out the inner voice if a person is too worldly minded. Then he will become insensitive to the subtle voice which sounds in him, he will only have eyes and ears for the world and be in great danger of entirely losing the ability to hear this voice.... thereby losing all faith and no longer being capable of contemplating spiritual thoughts.

Every person, even a worldly person in the midst of life, has moments of calm when he can take stock of himself if he wants.... Every person will occasionally be drawn into conversations pertaining to spiritual problems; in every person the spirit, which is part of God, tries to express itself.... For God touches all people, and He does so time and time again, because He wants to divert them from purely earthly matters towards spiritual ones. Yet anyone who resists the spirit, who pushes all thoughts away, who remains unreceptive to all inward instructions, prevents the working of the inner spirit at his own peril. For he loses all contact with the Divine, he himself destroys the bridge.... he remains on earth and will never be able to enter spiritual spheres even when his earthly life has ended.... For his soul is so materialistically inclined that it will be unable to leave the earthly sphere.... it is hardened just like matter, which occupied its sole thoughts and intentions in earthly life.... And for this soul the path will be an infinitely long one before it reaches the sphere of the spirit.... for it is considerably more arduous to travel than on earth....
