Il diritto – La giustizia – Le razze – I popoli

E’ indegno di un’intera nazione, se non si giustifica del suo pensare ed agire. Un popolo dev’essere irreprensibile nel suo comportamento verso il prossimo, che appartiene alla sua nazione; ma deve anche adempiere verso altre nazioni il Comandamento dell’amore per il prossimo, anche se questo non è da intendere in modo che l’agire e pensare si estenda al singolo membro, ma l’intero sentimento e volere nei confronti di un altro popolo dev’essere onorevole e sincero, non deve far mancare il giusto sentire, cioè non negare qualcosa di ciò che pretende un popolo stesso. Deve regnare il diritto e la giustizia nei confronti di tutti gli uomini e l’appartenenza ad una determinata razza o nazione non deve essere determinante per le azioni che vengono eseguite nei loro confronti. Dio non ha fatto nessuna restrizione, quando Egli ha dato agli uomini il Comandamento dell’amore per il prossimo, perché ogni prossimo dev’esser considerato come fratello, come creatura di Dio, al quale dev’anche essere dato un sentimento fraterno. Perciò l’uomo stesso non deve introdurre questa restrizione, non deve credere di essere giustificato verso certe persone di poterle escludere dall’amore per il prossimo; deve esercitare senza differenza il Comandamento dell’amore per il prossimo e quindi anche rendersi conto quando disdegna questo Comandamento. Perciò gli dev’essere chiaro il suo pensare ed agire, fin dove corrisponde il divino Comandamento. Non può giudicare diversamente secondo il suo piacere e beneplacito, non può peccare verso uno e credersi giustificato di un peccato, perché si stima di stare in un'altra cerchia fatta dall’appartenenza ad una razza o ad un popolo. Davanti a Dio non esiste questa limitazione, davanti a Dio tutti gli uomini valgono uguali e diritto ed ingiustizia rimangono sempre ed ovunque diritto ed ingiustizia. Non è ammesso che l’uomo arroghi a sé stesso il diritto che nega al prossimo, e quando il pensare degli uomini si smarrisce in questo modo, che si credono nel giusto anche nell’agire ingiusto, allora l’uomo è già sprofondato così in basso nel suo sviluppo spirituale, perché allora pone la vita terrena al di sopra della vita spirituale, altrimenti non potrebbe sostenere un pensare che è nato dal tendere secondo il proprio vantaggio. Quello che l’uomo pretende per sé stesso, lo deve concedere irrevocabilmente anche al prossimo, se non vuole temere che anche lui non venga ricompensato da Dio come lo desidera, ma gli viene misurato secondo la misura, secondo la quale egli stesso ha misurato.

Law - Justice - Races.... Nations....

It is unworthy of a whole nation if it is not accountable to itself regarding its thoughts and actions. The conduct of a nation's people should be impeccable towards each other; but they should also observe the commandment of neighbourly love towards other nations, even if this is not to be understood such that actions and thoughts should extend to individual members but that all feelings and intentions towards another nation should be honourable and decent and not lack a feeling of justice, i.e. they should not be denied what the people of a nation claim for themselves. Law and justice should apply to all people, and the affiliation to a specific race or nation should not determine the actions implemented against them. God set no restriction when He gave people the commandment of neighbourly love, for every fellow human being shall be regarded as a brother, as God's living creation, who should also be treated with brotherly feelings. Hence, the human being should not impose this restriction himself, he should not think that he is entitled to exclude certain people from neighbourly love; he should practise the commandment of neighbourly love without distinction and thus also be accountable to himself when he disregards this commandment. And therefore he must be clear about his thoughts and actions as to how far they correspond to the divine commandments.... He cannot make different judgments at his pleasure and own discretion, he cannot sin against one person and believe his sin to be justified because he deems himself to belong to a different circle, which was drawn by racial or national affiliation.

This dividing line does not exist before God, before God all human beings are equal, and right and wrong remain right and wrong everywhere. It is not acceptable that the human being claims rights for himself which he denies to other people, and if people's thoughts become so misguided that they believe themselves to be right even when they act wrongly, then the human being's spiritual development has already sunk low, for then he places earthly life high above the latter, otherwise he would be unable to defend a way of thinking which arose from the striving for his own advantage.... Anything a human being requires for himself he must inevitably also grant to his fellow human being, and he should never ever set up his own laws if he does not want to fear that he will not be considered by God in a way he would like, but that he will be measured by the same yardstick he measured himself....
