Le anime di coloro, che hanno lasciato la valle terrena senza aver stabilito un legame con il Padre celeste, sono in una grave miseria. Non sanno cosa fare e si tormentano con auto accuse e cattivi pensieri. Si ribellano contro il loro destino e non vogliono ammettere a sé stesse, che è per la loro propria colpa che si trovano in questo triste stato. Più l’anima si arrende nel suo stato di sofferenza, prima giunge la possibilità della liberazione da questa, perché gli esseri spirituali percepiscono il minimo buon moto e cercano ora di portare all’anima un alleggerimento, mentre le danno le necessarie indicazioni per il miglioramento della loro situazione. E di nuovo dipende soltanto dalla buona volontà dell’anima sofferente, di approfittare di questi ammonimenti ed indicazioni. Ma dove la propria volontà è troppo forte, anche gli sforzi di questi amici spirituali volenterosi d’amore e d’aiuto saranno inutili, e l’anima ricade nel suo vecchio stato opprimente e per lungo tempo non può liberarsene, dato che combatte ancora contro ogni nobile bene, che nella sua caparbietà non riconosce come tale. Chi sosta nella notte più oscura, potrà comprendere in qualche maniera la sorte di queste povere anime, paura ed orrore li angoscia, e l’animo si oscura fino all’insopportabile. Cercano la Luce e non la possono trovare. La vicinanza della Terra li tiene stretti, e si soffermano prevalentemente là, dove soggiornavano nella vita terrena. Perché da lì sperano che arrivi il primo aiuto, dove vivono coloro, che erano loro vicini, perché sovente sono anche ancora senza conoscenza di aver già lasciato da tempo la Terra. Sono soltanto amareggiate, che tutti i loro sforzi sono senza esito e gli uomini non badano alla loro miseria, e soltanto dopo lungo tempo riconoscono l’impossibilità di realizzare il loro desiderio. E chi ora trae da questa conoscenza la giusta utilità, chi entra in sé e prende la ferma premessa, di fare di tutto per essere liberato da questo stato infelice, imparerà presto a conoscere i mezzi e le vie, mediante gli insegnamenti di amici spirituali nell’aldilà oppure anche tramite la partecipazione agli insegnamenti, che vengono offerti dall’aldilà ai figli terreni, che sono credenti e di buona volontà. Se l’anima ha scoperto un tale collegamento, allora non è più possibile allontanarla dalla vicinanza di tali figli terreni, accoglie con vera fame ardente tutti gli insegnamenti ed ora è grata per l’indicazione, che sfrutta in ogni modo. E così sono veramente delle ore ricche di benedizione per innumerevoli anime nell’aldilà, quando ti dedichi al tuo lavoro spirituale. Perché senza il tuo aiuto loro soffrono indicibilmente, e la via per la Luce è per loro molto più difficile da raggiungere, ma così possono in breve tempo recuperare infinitamente tanto di ciò che hanno mancato di fare nella vita terrena per propria colpa, e perciò diventano sempre più sapienti e seguono tutti gli ammonimenti nel modo più fervente, più vengono a conoscenza, che loro stesse hanno nella mano la possibilità di rendere il loro stato più sopportabile e più tardi al farne uno stato estremamente felice. E così anche loro badano sempre solo a sfruttare tutti gli insegnamenti, che vengono loro trasmessi dall’aldilà, e la loro preoccupazione è ugualmente diretta al loro stato interiore dell’anima ed alla loro volontà, che può portare anche alla liberazione dalle loro sofferenze e tormenti.

The souls of those who have left the valley of the earth without having established a connection with the heavenly father are in great distress. They know neither the end nor the beginning and torment themselves with self-reproach and bad thoughts. They rebel against their fate and do not want to admit to themselves that they themselves are to blame for this sad state. The more devotedly the soul resigns itself to its state of suffering, the more likely it is to be liberated from it, for the higher spiritual beings perceive the slightest good impulse and try to bring relief to the soul by giving it the necessary advice to improve its situation. And again, it is only up to the good will of the suffering soul to make use of these admonitions and hints.... However, where its own will is too strong, the efforts of these spiritual friends who are willing to love and help will also be in vain and the soul will fall back into its old oppressive state and will not be able to free itself from it for a long time, as it is still fighting against everything good and noble which it does not recognize as such in its stubbornness. Anyone who dwells in the darkest night will be able to roughly comprehend the fate of these poor.... fear and horror torment them, and their minds darken to the point of unbearability.... They seek light and cannot find it.... Proximity to the earth holds them fast, and they mainly stay where they stayed in earthly life.... For they first hope for help where those close to them dwell, for they are often still without realizing that they have long since left earth. They are only bitter that all their efforts are without success and that people do not pay attention to their need, and only after a long time do they realize the impossibility of their desire. And anyone who now derives the right benefit from this realization.... anyone who goes within himself and firmly resolves to do everything in order to be liberated from the unhappy state will also soon learn the ways and means through the instruction of the spiritual friends in the beyond or also by participating in the teachings offered from the beyond to earthly children who are faithful and of good will. Once the soul has discovered such a connection, it can no longer be removed from the vicinity of such earthly children.... It accepts all teachings with a real hunger and is now grateful for the advice it utilizes in every way. And so it is truly blessed hours for countless souls in the beyond when you devote yourself to your spiritual work.... For they suffer so unspeakably without your help and the path to the light is much more difficult for them to reach.... however, in a short time they can make up for infinitely much of what they neglected to do in earthly life through their own fault, and thus they become increasingly more knowledgeable and follow all admonitions most eagerly the more they realize that it is in their own hands to make their state bearable and later extremely happy. And thus they, too, are only ever anxious to make use of all instructions which are conveyed to you from the beyond, and their concern is likewise for your inner state of soul and your will, which can also bring them deliverance from their suffering and torment....
