Čovjek sebe samoga oblikuje kroz svoj unutarnji život, odnosno, ako on promišlja nad sobom, te svoje postupanje i razmišljanje podvrgava ozbiljnom ispitu, nastoji li on onda i živjeti tako da može izdržati pred sobom samim, a ovo za posljedicu ima samo-dorađivanje (samo-oplemenjivanje). Dakle, to znači i duhovni napredak, ili viši razvoj duše. Sada je potpuno beznačajno, u kojoj mjeri čovjek sebe podvrgava izvanjskim formama. Njegova namjera (pažnja) treba biti usmjerena jedino u to da živi Bogu na zadovoljstvo, stoga sve ono što on govori, misli ili čini, mora odgovarati Božanskim zapovijedima. Bog od ljudi ne traži drugo nego da oni Njega ljube i ovu Ljubav onda izražavaju čineći dobro bližnjima, a također i inače žive tako da je iz toga prepoznatljiva žudnja za Bogom. Svaka misao okrenuta naviše svjedoči Ljubav za Boga, jer za čim čovjek žudi, to će također uvijek iznova izranjati kao misao u njemu. Svjedoči li sada čovjek svoju Ljubav za Boga kroz neprestanu čežnju za Njim, onda će Bog i utažiti ovu žudnju, opskrbljujući jednako čovjeka Svojom Ljubavlju, i sada čovjek ne može drugo nego biti dobar. Jer, Božanska Ljubav, koju on sam iskreno traži kroz svoju žudnju, njega obavija, i on sada više ne može ne-Ljubavno (neljubazno, okrutno) postupati... Čovjek međutim sebe treba oblikovati u Ljubav, stoga on ispunjava prvu i najveću zapovijed... on daje Ljubav i kroz to iznova prima Ljubav, dakle, on sam mora postati Ljubav. No, do duševne zrelost nikada ne može doći čovjek koji ne stekne Božansku Ljubav kroz djela Ljubavi. Božja Ljubav može obuzeti jedino čovjeka koji se sam aktivira u Ljubavi. Svako, ma kako malo služenje-Ljubavi, također pretpostavlja određeni stav prema Bogu... čovjek treba željeti Dobro, onda se on barem nesvjesno postavlja odobravajuće prema Biću Koje je cjelokupnost (pojam, bit, oličenje) dobra, savršenstva. Željeti Dobro, stoga sebe potvrđivati za Dobro, također će imati za posljedicu da se teži Dobru, i takvom će se čovjeku i vječno Božanstvo približiti, Sebe mu dati prepoznati. A ispravan stav prema Bogu će uskoro odrediti njegovo razmišljanje i postupanje, odnosno potaknut će ga na Ljubav-nu aktivnost, tako da i Bog može Svoju Ljubav njemu okrenuti, što znači to da čovjek sada mora sazrjeti u svojoj duši, budući da ga Božja Ljubav čuva, i sada ga više ne pušta pasti. Bog od čovjeka zahtjeva dokaz njegove Ljubavi za Njega, ali nije Mu dovoljno njegovo zaklinjanje (uvjeravanje) ili zanesenost... Čovjek treba potvrditi (izraziti) svoju Ljubav za Boga u djelima Ljubavi, i kako on sada razdjeljuje bližnjemu, tako će opet biti njemu razdijeljeno... ono što on učini bližnjemu u Ljubavi, Bog će mu nadoknaditi tisućustruko... A uvijek je odlučujući stupanj Ljubavi u kojemu on ostvaruje djela Ljubavi za bližnjega. U istoj mjeri će Božja Ljubav prihvatiti čovjeka, jer budući da je Sam Bog Ljubav, On mora biti prisutan u svakom djelu Ljubavi. Posljedično, čovjek mora postati Ljubav, ako je sve njegovo razmišljanje i postupanje određeno Ljubavlju za Boga i za bližnjega.

But man should mould himself to love, so he fulfils the first and greatest commandment.... he gives love and thereby receives love again, so he must become love himself. But a person can never reach spiritual maturity unless he acquires divine love through works of love. God's love can only take hold of a person who practices love himself. Every service of love, however small, also requires a certain attitude towards God.... the human being must want what is good, i.e. at least unconsciously affirm the being Who is the epitome of good, of perfection. Affirming the good will also result in striving for the good, and the eternal deity will also approach such a person and reveal Himself. And the right attitude towards God will soon determine his thoughts and actions, i.e. spur him into loving activity, so that God can therefore also bestow His love upon him, which means that the human being must now mature in his soul because God's love cares for him and will no longer let him fall. God requires the human being to prove his love for Him, yet it is not enough for Him that he affirms or enthuses.... Man should demonstrate his love for God in works of love, and as he now distributes to his neighbour, so will he be distributed again.... what he does to his neighbour in love, God will repay him a thousandfold.... The degree of love in which he performs the works of charity is always decisive. God's love will take care of man to the same degree, for since God Himself is love, He must be present in every work of love. Consequently, man must become love, so that all his thoughts and actions are determined by love for God and his neighbour....
