Superioridad espiritual.... Arrogancia intelectual....

La superioridad espiritual no debe confundirse con la arrogancia intelectual.... Pues se trata principalmente del saber verdadero, que da al ser humano una sensación de superioridad espiritual, es decir, la convicción de la verdad de su saber. La arrogancia intelectual, en cambio, se manifiesta cuando un ser humano carece del saber verdadero, es decir, el saber acerca de la verdad. Sin embargo, se siente inteligente y él defiende su propia conclusión intelectual y niega al ser humano sabio cualquier capacidad de juicio, pero de la cual él mismo carece profundamente.

El ser humano que sabe también defiende su saber con plena convicción, por lo que es tachado del ignorante como mentalmente arrogante, sin que lo sea en realidad. Sin embargo, sería imposible renunciar a la verdad una vez reconocida para desviar la acusación de arrogancia mental, ya que la característica de la verdad es que proporciona al ser humano una seguridad absoluta.... es decir, una superioridad espiritual, que ya no le puede ser arrebatada. Y esta sensación de seguridad, de estar firme en la verdad, es un don divino, un don del Espíritu, que no debe confundirse con un intelecto agudo.

Sin embargo, a los seres humanos ignorantes no se les puede hacer comprender esta diferencia, por lo que tampoco se puede discutir con ellos al respecto. Pero hay una característica común para cada uno de los términos: superioridad espiritual y arrogancia intelectual.... La primera presupone un deseo incondicional de verdad y un esfuerzo espiritual mientras que la última siempre indica que el ser humano no se toma en serio la búsqueda de la verdad, sino que solo quiere tener razón. Pues quien realmente exige y se esfuerza por alcanzar la verdad pronto llegaría al mismo resultado, lo que le otorgaría superioridad espiritual en lugar de “arrogancia” intelectual.

Porque al reconocer la verdad pura, el ser humano se vuelve pequeño y humilde, lo que no significa que no defienda con fervor y convicción esta verdad reconocida.... Y cada ser humano que se considere inteligente y sabio debería examinar seriamente si siquiera desea llegar a “saber”, o si se contenta con lo que ha descubierto por casualidad o lo que ha meditado por sí mismo a través del intelecto, sin haber pedido antes a Dios por la iluminación del pensamiento....

Siempre debe tener presente que el error acompaña a la verdad y que la mente humana por sí sola no es insuficiente para examinarlo; sino que hay que invocar a Dios Mismo para que le ayude. Además debe examinarse él mismo, si tan solo es su espíritu de contradicción lo que le lleva a rechazar un conjunto de ideas diferente que no sea el suyo.... Entonces tiene que ser llamado como “mentalmente arrogante”, mientras que la verdadera superioridad espiritual presupone la más profunda conexión con Dios, la sumisión incondicional a Su voluntad.... por tanto, una “humildad”, que solo le proporciona un saber veraz.

Pero tal saber brindará una inmensa felicidad al ser humano y le da un sentimiento tan seguro, que también le permitirá reconocer el error de forma clara y distinta. Y si no tuviera esta sensación de superioridad espiritual, tampoco podría defender este saber con convicción; sería rápidamente dominado por la voz del oponente, guardaría silencio donde se requiere hablar y sería incapaz de representar la verdad en la Tierra.

Por lo tanto, tiene que aceptar la acusación de “arrogancia mental”. No debe tolerar el error que ha reconocido.... porque entonces no sería un defensor del Señor, que debe usar la espada de su boca contra quienes introducen y propagan el error en el mundo. Pues también haber recibido la verdad obliga a defenderla.... Pero quien defiende el error jamás podrá afirmar haberlo alcanzado después de un ferviente deseo de verdad.

Y así sería fácil para cada ser humano reconocer dónde está la verdad y dónde el error.... si tan sólo se respondiera a sí mismo con toda honestidad a la pregunta de si ha buscado la verdad con total seriedad.... Pero el arrogante intelectual está tan convencido de su conocimiento racional que no está dispuesto a renunciar nada al respecto.... Por eso nunca se plantea la pregunta y, por lo tanto, también le resultará muy difícil llegar a la verdad....

Mental superiority.... mental arrogance....

Spiritual superiority must not be confused with spiritual arrogance.... For it is mostly a matter of right knowledge, which probably gives a person the feeling of spiritual superiority, that is, that the person is convinced of the truth of his knowledge.... whereas spiritual arrogance is found where the person lacks right knowledge.... the knowledge of the truth.... Nevertheless, he feels clever, and he represents his own intellect results and denies the knower any power of judgement, which, however, he himself particularly lacks. The knower indeed also represents his knowledge full of conviction, and he is therefore called spiritually arrogant by the ignorant without being so, only it would be impossible to reveal the once recognized truth in order to merely avert the reproach of spiritual arrogance from himself, for this is the characteristic of truth, that it gives the human being complete certainty.... thus spiritual superiority.... which can no longer be taken away from him. And this feeling of security, of standing in the truth, is a divine gift, a gift of the spirit, which again must not be confused with keen intellect. It is true that this difference cannot be made comprehensible to ignorant people, which is why it cannot be argued with words either. But there is a characteristic for each of the terms: spiritual superiority and spiritual arrogance.... The former presupposes an unconditional desire for truth and spiritual striving, whereas the latter is always a sign that the human being is not serious about attaining the truth but only about being right, for the person who seriously demands and strives for truth would very soon come to the same result, which now gives him spiritual 'superiority' instead of spiritual 'arrogance'. For the human being then becomes small and humble in the realization of pure truth.... which, however, does not mean that he does not eagerly and convincingly represent this recognized truth.... And every person who thinks himself clever and wise should seriously examine himself as to whether he has the desire to become 'knowledgeable' at all, or whether he is content with what he has learned by chance or what he has puzzled out for himself intellectually without having first asked God for enlightenment of thought.... He should always remind himself that error always goes hand in hand with truth and that human intellect alone is not sufficient for examination but that God Himself must be called upon for help. Furthermore, he should examine himself to see whether it is only a spirit of contradiction that moves him to reject a thought system other than his own.... Then he must be addressed as "spiritually arrogant", whereas spiritual superiority presupposes deepest attachment to God, unconditional submission to His will.... a 'humility', therefore, which only earns him truthful knowledge. But such knowledge will make the human being immensely happy and give him such a secure feeling which will also let him recognize error brightly and clearly. And if he did not have this feeling of spiritual superiority then he would not be able to stand up for knowledge with conviction either, he would very quickly be drowned out by the adversary, he would remain silent where speech is required and be unsuitable as a representative of truth on earth.... He must therefore rather accept the reproach of 'spiritual arrogance', he must not tolerantly accept the error he has recognized.... because then he would not be a fighter for the lord, who should fight with the sword of the mouth against those who bring error into the world and spread it. For having received the truth also obliges one to represent it.... But anyone who advocates error will never be able to claim to have attained it after a heartfelt desire for truth. And thus it would be easy for every person to recognize where truth and where error is.... if only he honestly answers the question for himself as to whether he has seriously sought the truth.... But the spiritually arrogant person is so convinced of his intellectual knowledge and not willing to surrender any of it.... And therefore he never asks himself this question, and therefore he will also hardly arrive at the truth....
