Overcoming matter....

Anyone who cannot leave the world will not acquire the kingdom of heaven; anyone who clings to the earthly kingdom will not be able to enter the spiritual kingdom of light, even though every human being must once take off his earthly garment and enter the kingdom of the beyond.... but this will be according to his desire on earth. No soul will be allowed to enjoy the light which has not sought the light on earth, for the kingdom of the world is the realm of the prince of darkness, the earthly kingdom cannot radiate spiritual light, matter darkens the human being's spirit, and he goes blindly through earthly life in spirit for as long as earthly matter still keeps him bound.... And anyone who desires the world with its goods does not desire light either, for light comes from above, from the spiritual kingdom, and can only reach him who has detached himself from matter, who turns his back on the world. The world is the kingdom of God's adversary, for all matter harbours unredeemed spiritual substances, all matter imprisons the spiritual substances which still lie in the adversary's bonds, which are still his possession and which therefore have to be overcome by the human being who one day wants to enter the kingdom of light. All of you have passed through this matter, all of you had already liberated yourselves from its encasement, but as a human being you strive again for that which you have long since overcome.... And that is your disaster, for if the soul does not succeed in freeing itself from the desire for earthly goods it will return to the realm it had overcome.... it can be banished anew in hard matter, and a renewed course through creation can be its dreadful fate. And therefore the human being can only ever be warned to chain himself to matter, to only strive for earthly goods and thereby to become ever more devoted to the lord of this material world. The human being can only ever be presented with the bitter fate of a new banishment into matter, so that he will reflect and try to free himself in order to one day be able to discard the material body and enter the spiritual kingdom in complete freedom. And he truly does not give much away when he tries to detach himself from the world and its goods, for these are transient and he cannot keep them when his physical life is over.... he cannot take any of it over into the spiritual kingdom if he is still called away before the end of this earth.... He will enter that kingdom poor and bare, and poverty will weigh heavily upon him when he realizes that he has put his earthly life behind him in vain, which could have brought him great spiritual wealth. But the human being cannot possess both together: spiritual goods and earthly-material values, if these still captivate his whole heart.... But once he has overcome them, once his desire for them has been released, then they will no longer harm him, for then he will only use the material goods according to God's will; he will perform works of love with them and increase his spiritual goods. But he can only attain spiritual goods when his soul no longer desires matter. And therefore earthly poverty is often a means to overcome the desire for the earthly world, and then poverty can only be evaluated as help to attain maturity of soul and spiritual goods, which are imperishable. But it can also increase a person's desire for earthly possessions, and then the person has to muster a strong will to master this desire and to be able to emerge victorious.... But then he will be able to achieve great spiritual success, and then he will not have lived his earthly life in vain...._>Amen

물질을 극복하는 일.

세상을 떠날 수 없는 사람은 천국을 얻지 못할 것이다. 모든 사람이 언젠가 이 땅의 옷을 벗어야만 하고 저세상의 나라로 들어가게 될지라도 이 땅의 나라에 연연해 하는 사람은 빛의 나라인 영의 나라에 들어갈 수 없고 저세상의 나라는 그가 이 땅에서 갈망하던 나라에 합당하게 될 것이다. 이 땅의 빛을 구하지 않은 혼은 빛을 누릴 수 없다. 그러나 세상의 나라는 어두움의 권세자의 나라이고 이 땅의 나라는 영적인 빛을 발산할 수 없고 물질이 인간의 영을 어둡게 한다. 세상의 물질이 아직 그를 묶고 있는 동안에는 그는 영의 눈이 먼 가운데 이 땅의 삶을 살게 된다.

그리고 세상의 재물을 원하는 사람은 빛도 원하지 않는다. 왜냐면 빛은 영의 나라가 있는 위로부터 오고 이 빛은 단지 물질로부터 자신을 자유롭게 하고 세상에 등을 돌린 사람들에게 비출 수 있기 때문이다. 세상은 하나님의 대적자의 나라이다. 왜냐면 모든 물질에 구속받지 못한 영적인 존재들이 들어 있고 모든 물질은 아직 대적자의 속박 아래 있는 영적인 존재들을 포로로 잡고 있기 때문이다. 이런 영적인 존재들은 아직 대적자의 소유이다. 그러므로 언젠가 빛의 나라에 들어가기를 원하는 사람들은 물질을 극복해야만 한다.

너희 모두는 물질의 과정을 통과했고 너희 모두는 물질의 겉형체로부터 너희를 이미 자유롭게 만들었다. 그러나 너희는 인간으로서 너희가 이미 오래 전에 극복한 물질을 다시 추구한다. 이런 일은 너희에게 불행한 일이다. 왜냐면 혼이 세상의 재물에 대한 욕망에서 벗어나는 일에 성공하지 못하면, 혼이 다시 자신이 극복했던 나라로 돌아가기 때문이다. 그러면 혼은 새롭게 굳은 물질 안으로 파문을 받을 수 있고 새롭게 창조물의 과정을 가는 일은 혼에게 끔찍한 운명이 될 수 있다.

그러므로 사람은 자신을 물질에 얽매이게 하고 단지 세상의 재물을 추구하고 이를 통해 물질 세계의 주인에게 항상 점점 더 자신을 받치는 일에 대해 항상 경고받을 수 있고 이런 사람에게 항상 단지 물질 안으로 새롭게 파문을 받는 끔찍한 운명을 알려줄 수밖에 없다. 이로써 그가 언젠가 물질적인 육신을 벗고 완전한 자유 가운데 영의 나라에 들어갈 수 있기 위해 자신을 돌아보고 자유롭게 되기 위한 시도를 하게 할 수 있다.

그가 세상과 세상의 재물이 헛된 것이기 때문에 이로부터 자신을 자유롭게 만들려고 시도하면, 그는 실제로 많은 것을 포기하지 않게 된다. 그의 육체적 삶이 끝나면, 그는 세상의 재물을 유지할 수 없고 그가 이 땅의 종말 전에 부름을 받게 되면, 그는 어떤 것도 영의 나라로 가져갈 수 없고 그는 가난하고 헐벗은 가운데 영의 나라로 들어갈 것이다. 그가 그에게 큰 영적 부를 얻을 수 있었던 이 땅에서 자신의 삶을 헛되이 살았다는 것을 깨달으면, 가난이 그를 무겁게 짓누를 것이다.

그러나 이 땅의 세상 재물이 아직 사람의 모든 심장을 사로잡고 있다면, 사람은 영적인 재물과 이 땅의 세상 재물을 함께 소유할 수 없다. 그러나 일단 그가 한번 세상 재물을 극복하고 세상 재물에 대한 갈망으로부터 자유롭게 되면, 세상 재물이 더 이상 그에게 해를 끼치지 않게 되고 그러면 그가 물질적인 재물을 단지 하나님의 뜻에 따라 사용할 것이다. 그는 세상 재물로 사랑을 행하고 영적 재물을 증가시킬 것이다. 그러나 그의 혼이 더 이상 세상 재물을 갈망하지 않게 되면, 그가 비로소 영적인 재물을 얻을 수 있다.

그러므로 세상적인 빈곤이 종종 이 땅의 세상을 향한 갈망을 극복하는 수단이다. 그러면 가난을 단지 혼을 성숙하게 하고 쇠하지 않는 영적인 재물을 얻는 일에 도움을 주는 것으로 여길 수 있다. 그러나 가난이 또한 세상 소유에 대한 사람의 갈망을 증가시킬 수 있다. 그러면 사람이 이런 갈망을 다스리고 승리하기 위해 강한 의지를 모아야만 한다. 그러나 그러면 그는 큰 영적 성공을 이룰 수 있게 될 것이고 그러면 그는 이 땅의 삶을 헛되이 살지 않게 된다.
