Truth is not accepted without faith....

It is a vain attempt to introduce people to the truth who are completely without faith. For in them there is neither desire for truth nor willingness to love and therefore also no ability to recognize truth as such. For this reason an attempt must first be made to induce them to reflect on their origin.... for only such reflection can move the human being to ask the question: Why and for what purpose is My being as a human being, and by whom have I been called into being?

Only then is it possible for faith in a creator from eternity to awaken, and only then can the truth be communicated to man with the prospect of being recognized. However, 'faith' is not the unquestioning acceptance of a doctrine of a God and creator, but the inner affirmation of a being Who created, sustains and governs everything. Thus, man must come to the inner conviction through reflection that a being exists to Whom creation owes its existence. Only this conviction gained through reflection can be addressed as faith, because although no proof can be produced, the human being nevertheless represents this inner realization because it appeals to him and is thus also acceptable to him, i.e. his intellect can also profess it. Faith gained in this way is also a guarantee for the attainment of truth, because the human being now also mentally makes contact with the being Which his heart acknowledges, and now the deity Itself intervenes and informs the human being more and more of Its being, because It reveals Itself to him as soon as he has acknowledged It. And now the degree of love is decisive in which way God can reveal Himself to the human being.... A seeking human being is already more distant from the earthly world and is no longer bound by matter, his spirit will enter areas which are far removed from the material world.... But as soon as he detaches himself from matter the spark of love is also ignited in him, he no longer thinks of himself but feels himself placed in a community of similar beings, like himself, who all have a purpose to fulfil on earth but who are also weak and ignorant like himself.... And what he now seeks he does not seek for himself alone but he also wants to utilize it for his fellow human beings because he feels that ignorance is a great shortcoming which makes them unhappy.... Thus love will always be kindled in a person if faith in God is awakened, and the attention of truth is now also guaranteed, only it can be conveyed to the human being in different ways, yet always such that it is acceptable to him and he feels so impressed by the truth that he demands more and also represents it to his fellow human beings.... God can only reveal Himself when He is acknowledged, but then He will give with full hands, He will distribute the truth to everyone who desires it and, once again, love will increase in the hearts of those who receive the truth because they will now recognize and learn to love God, Who reveals Himself in His nature, Who kindles a bright light in all those who strive for the truth....

진리는 믿음이 없이는 영접을 받지 못한다.

믿음이 전혀 없는 사람들을 진리로 인도하는 일은 헛된 시작이다. 왜냐면 그들 안에 진리에 대한 갈망이 없고 사랑하려는 의지도 없기 때문에 진리를 깨달을 능력도 없기 때문이다. 그러므로 먼저 그들이 그들의 기원에 대해 생각하도록 시도해야 한다. 왜냐면 그런 생각이 단지 사람들을 다음과 같은 질문으로 이끌 수 있기 때문이다: 왜, 어떤 목적을 위해 내가 사람으로 존재하고, 누구에 의해 생명으로 얻게 되었는가?

그러면 비로소 영원한 창조주를 믿는 믿음이 깨어나고, 그러면 비로소 진리를 깨달을 전망과 함께 진리를 사람에게 전할 수 있다. 그러나 "믿음” 은 창조주 하나님의 가르침에 반박하지 않고 받아드리는 것이 아니라, 모든 것을 창조했고 유지하고 다스리는 존재를 내적으로 인정하는 일이다. 그러므로 인간은 생각하는 일을 통해 창조물들이 존재하게 만든 존재가 존재한다는 내적 확신에 도달해야만 한다. 사고를 통해 얻은 이런 확신을 비로소 믿음이라고 말할 수 있다. 왜냐면 어떤 증거도 제공될 수 없지만 그러나 사람이 내적인 깨달음을 옹호하기 때문이고, 내적인 깨달음이 그에게 영향을 미쳐 그가 받아드릴 수 있게 되기 때문이다. 즉 그의 이성도 내적인 깨달음을 고백할 수 있기 때문이다.

이런 식으로 얻은 믿음이 또한 진리에 도달하는 일을 보장한다. 왜냐면 인간이 이제 자신의 심장이 인정하는 존재와 생각으로 접촉하고, 신성 자신이 이제 역사하여 자신의 본질에 대해 사람에게 점점 더 많은 것을 깨닫게 하기 때문이다. 왜냐면 사람이 신성을 인정하면, 신성 자신이 사람에게 자신을 계시하기 때문이다. 사랑의 정도가 이제 어떤 방식으로 하나님이 사람에게 자신을 계시할 수 있는 지를 정하는 일에 결정적인 역활을 한다.

구하는 사람은 이미 이 땅의 세상으로부터 멀어졌고, 그는 더 이상 물질에 묶여 있지 않고, 그의 영은 물질 세계와는 멀리 떨어진 영역으로까지 들어간다. 그가 물질로부터 자신을 분리시키면, 그 안의 사랑의 불씨가 불타 오르고, 그는 더 이상 자신을 생각하지 않고, 모두가 이 땅에서 같은 목적을 성취시켜야만 하는 그러나 자기 자신과 마찬가지로 연약하고 무지한, 자신과 같은 존재의 공동체에 놓이게 된 것으로 느낀다. 그가 이제 구하는 것을 유일하게 자신을 위해 구하지 않고, 그는 그가 구하는 것을 이웃을 위해 활용하기를 원한다. 왜냐면 그는 깨달음이 없는 일이 이웃들을 축복되지 못하게 만드는 큰 부족한 점이라고 생각하기 때문이다.

그러므로 하나님을 믿는 믿음이 깨어나면, 사람 안의 사랑이 항상 불타오르고, 진리를 받는 일이 이제 또한 보장이 되고, 단지 서로 다른 방식으로 사람에게 전달될 수 있다. 그러나 항상 그가 받아드릴 수 있게 전달될 수 있고, 그는 진리에 아주 감명을 받아, 더 많은 진리를 요구하고 또한 이웃에게 진리를 옹호하게 된다. 하나님은 자신이 인정받을 때 자신을 계시할 수 있다. 그러나 그러면 하나님은 손에 가득하게 주고, 진리를 갈망하는 모든 사람에게 주고, 진리를 받는 사람들의 심장에 사랑이 다시 증가될 것이다. 왜냐면 그들은 이제 자신의 성품을 계시하고 진리를 추구하는 모든 사람에게 밝은 빛을 비추는 하나님을 깨닫고 사랑하는 법을 배우기 때문이다.
