Spiritual or letter sense.... communion....

Everything I have spoken on earth is said for eternity and will therefore never lose the meaning I have given to My words. However, the fact that people themselves give them a different meaning must never lead to the assumption that I recognize this educated interpretation. Every person would have to come to the realization himself that and why certain interpretations of My word are wrong if only they would seriously think about it; yet they only adhere to the human interpretation and less to My word, which also allows for a different interpretation which should be thought through with the desire to recognize what is right and true.

(5.7.1950) It is certainly justified to quote My word unchanged as proof of the truth of a doctrine of faith, but it must always be kept in mind that it is not the word alone but the spirit of the word which gives the meaning in the first place, thus every word can also be applied if one wants to put a different meaning into it. What I have spoken only makes sense in connection with spiritual development and must therefore always be interpreted spiritually. It must be in connection with the whole, one word cannot be picked out at random and interpreted. My teaching is not incomprehensible, however, it also requires enlightened thinking, because My words only appear meaningless to an unenlightened spirit, thus the human being can only grasp the right meaning if his request for enlightened thinking has preceded it. No coherence can be found with merely intellectual interpretation, pure intellectual thinking gives My word a meaning which can sometimes even be contrary to what I want to say to people. For one thing has to be taken into account, that there is always a battle between truth and lies or error and that the representatives of both sides want to win people's souls, thus they try to influence their thoughts. And the forces of darkness will always intervene where the intellect alone is active, because it is not possible for them to take notice where the human being's spirit is enlightened by his will and his call to Me....

(6/7/1950) You humans could all be instructed by the spirit within you and then you would also immediately recognize where My teaching is permeated by error; where the interpretation of My word is given according to the letter but not according to the meaning; you would also be able to correct any error yourselves through bright thinking, for then you would always be assured of My support which I grant to everyone who desires the pure truth. Yet the adversary endeavours to keep you in ignorance and will try to obscure the truth precisely where important doctrines of faith are at stake. One false doctrine entails another, and a wrong interpretation of My word means a false doctrine.

I cannot stay in an earthly-material form in any other way than that the spiritual substance which is bound in this form is a part of Me which, after the former apostasy, shall slowly return to Me again.... But I, as a supremely perfect being, do not occupy a form which is visible to you in order to be present to you in this form. I am always and everywhere present, yet whether you are aware of Me and can feel Me depends solely on your attitude towards Me. Consequently, you cannot unite with Me through a specific process but only through your self-shaping into love, which results in a direct connection with Me. You therefore have a wrong idea of the Last Supper with My disciples.... because you again only read the literal sense out of My words which I spoke to the disciples but not the spiritual sense.... I gave out bread and wine.... food and drink, I gave and the others received.... always I will be the giver and distribute the bread of heaven, the nourishment of the soul, which it finds in My word alone, which gives it the strength to ascend.... Do the same in My memory.... These words were the simplest indication of the fulfilment of the commandment of neighbourly love, which alone earns people the impartation of My word.... which alone secures My presence for them, so that I can therefore take supper with them as I have promised. My words, My actions were only figurative indications of what they should do in remembrance of Me.... And anyone who asks for the enlightenment of spirit will brightly and clearly recognize and understand the meaning of My words, for the awakening of spirit presupposes a way of life in love, thus also already the union with Me, which earns him fullest truth. Yet as long as people do not understand the spiritual meaning of My words, as long as they still believe Me to be bound in an earthly material form, their spirit is not yet awakened, and therefore they cannot distinguish error from truth....

영적인 의미와 문자적인 의미. 주의 만찬.

내가 이 땅에서 했던 모든 말은 영원을 위해 말한 것이고 그러므로 내가 내 말 안에 넣어준 의미를 절대로 잃지 않을 것이다. 그러나 인간이 내 말에 다른 의미를 부여한 일을 내가 그런 왜곡된 해석을 인정한다고 여겨서는 안 된다. 단지 이런 해석에 관해 진지하게 생각을 한다면, 모든 사람이 나의 말씀에 대한 특정한 해석이 잘못되었고, 왜 잘못되었는지 깨달음을 도달해야만 한다. 그러나 사람들은 단지 인간의 해석을 옹호하고 다르게 해석할 수 있고, 올바르고 진리에 합당하게 깨닫기 원하는 갈망으로 깊이 생각해봐야 하는 내 말씀을 옹호하지 않는다.

(5. 7. 1950) 믿음의 가르침이 진리라는 증거로 내 말씀을 변형시키지 않고 인용하는 일은 분명하게 어떤 의미에서 정당한 일이다. 그러나 항상 유일하게 말씀이 아니라 말씀 안의 영이 비로소 의미를 갖게 한다는 것을 생각해야만 한다. 다시 말해 사람이 내 말씀에 다른 의미를 부여하기 위해 모든 말씀을 사용할 수 있다는 것을 생각해야만 한다. 내가 이제 하는 말은 항상 단지 영적인 성장과 관련해서 의미가 있다. 그러므로 항상 영적으로 해석해야만 한다. 말씀을 전체와 연관관계 가운데 봐야만 한다. 한 말씀을 맘대로 택하여 이제 이 말씀을 해석할 수 없다.

나의 가르침은 이해할 수 없는 가르침이 아니다. 그럴지라도 내 가르침은 깨우침을 받은 생각을 요구한다. 왜냐면 깨우침을 받지 못한 영에게 내 말씀은 단지 무의미하게 보이기 때문이다. 그러므로 사람이 먼저 생각을 깨우쳐 주기를 구하는 기도를 드린다면, 그가 단지 올바른 의미를 이해할 수 있다. 단지 이성적인 해석은 연관 관계를 찾을 볼 수 없고, 순수한 이성적인 생각이 때때로 내가 사람들에게 말하기 원하는 것과 반대가 되는 의미를 내 말씀에 부여한다. 왜냐면 항상 진리와 거짓이나 오류 사이의 싸움이 있고, 양쪽의 대변자들이 사람의 혼을 얻기를 원한다는 한 가지를 고려해야만 하기 때문이다. 이성이 혼자서 역사하는 곳에서 어두움의 세력들이 항상 개입할 것이다. 왜냐면 사람의 의지와 그가 나를 부르는 일을 통해 사람의 영이 깨우침을 받은 곳에서 어두움의 세력들이 주의를 받는 일이 불가능하기 때문이다.

(1950년 7월 6일) 너희 사람 모두가 너희 안의 영에 의해 가르침을 받을 수 있고, 그러면 너희가 또한 나의 가르침의 어느 곳에 오류가 스며들었는지를 즉시 깨달을 것이고, 내 말씀을 문자적으로 해석되었고, 의미에 합당하게 해석되지 않은 것을 즉시 깨달을 것이다. 너희는 또한 밝은 생각으로 스스로 모든 오류를 수정할 수 있게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 순수한 진리를 갈망하는 모든 사람에게 내가 제공하는 나의 지원이 너희에게 항상 확실하게 제공되기 때문이다. 그러나 대적자가 너희를 무지 가운데 머물게 하려고 노력하고, 그는 중요한 믿음의 가르침과 관련된 진리를 어둡게 만들려고 노력한다. 하나의 오류가 다른 오류를 끌어드리고, 내 말씀을 잘못 해석한 것이 잘못된 가르침을 의미한다.

나는 형체 안에 묶여 있고, 나의 일부분이고, 전에 타락한 후에 서서히 나에게 돌아와야 하는 영적인 존재 안 외에는 세상의 물질로 된 겉 형체 안에 머물 수 없다. 그러나 내가 형체 안에서 너희에게 임재하기 위해 아주 온전한 존재이 내가 너희가 볼 수 있는 형체를 입는 것이 아니고, 나는 항상 어디에나 존재한다. 그러나 너희가 이를 의식할 수 있거나 느낄 수 있는 지는 유일하게 나를 향한 너희의 자세에 달려 있다. 그러므로 너희는 특정한 과정을 통해 나와 하나가 될 수 없고, 단지 자신을 사랑으로 형성하는 일을 통해 나와 직접 연결을 이룬다.

그러므로 너희는 내가 나의 제자들과 함께 한 만찬에 대해 잘못된 생각을 하고 있다. 왜냐면 내가 제자들에게 말한 나의 말을 너희가 단지 문자적인 의미로 파악하고, 영적인 의미를 파악하지 못했기 때문이다. 나는 떡과 포도주를, 양식과 음료를 나눠 주었다. 내가 주었고 다른 사람이 받았다. 나는 항상 주는 자가 될 것이고 하늘의 양식을, 혼의 양식을 나눠줄 것이다. 이러 양식은 단지 내 말씀 안에서 찾을 수 있고, 내 말씀이 너희에게 위로 성장할 힘을 준다.

나를 생각하면서 똑 같이 행하라. 이 말은 이웃 사랑의 계명을 성취하라는 가장 단순한 가르침이었다. 이웃 사랑이 유일하게 사람들이 내 말씀을 받게 하고, 나의 임재를 체험하게 하고 이로써 내가 약속 한 대로 그들과 함께 만찬을 나눌 수 있게 한다. 내가 행한 의식은 나를 기억하는 가운데 그들이 어떤 일을 해야 하는지를 비유로 가르친 가르침이었다.

영의 깨우침을 구하는 사람은 밝고 선명하게 내 말의 의미를 깨닫고 이해하게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 영이 깨어나는 일은 사랑의 삶을 사는 일을 전제로 하고, 또한 그가 전적인 진리를 얻게 하는 나와의 연합을 전제로 하기 때문이다. 사람들이 내 말씀의 영적 의미를 이해하지 못하는 동안에는, 그들이 아직 나를 이 땅의 물질적인 형체 안에 묶여 있다고 믿는 동안에는, 그들의 영은 아직 깨어나지 않은 것이고, 그러므로 그들은 오류와 진리를 구별할 수 없다.
