Soul work.... Overcoming Self....

The more undauntedly a person works on himself, the more successful his endeavour will be, for then he will have the sincere will towards God, and this will also result in the allocation of strength which will ensure spiritual progress again. The soul's work requires overcoming oneself, and therefore it can only be achieved if the human being constantly practices self-denial. What is beneficial to the soul will always mean a renunciation or sacrifice for the body, and therefore a strong will is needed that is more focussed on the soul than on the body. Spiritual success can only be achieved by setting aside the body, and precisely this is so difficult for people because the body will always push forward with its desire, whereas the soul usually has to be content if the human being's will considers it sparingly. And therefore the soul can only progress in its development when it is given more consideration than the body. Thus the human being cannot do enough in caring for his soul, he must constantly practice love, and this will then also result in wisdom.... the realization.... in its wake. And as soon as a person recognizes, he cannot help but submit to the divine will, i.e. do what is beneficial for his soul. The divine will will also be revealed to anyone who only strives to fulfil God's will, and then he will willingly separate himself from matter, from the goods of the world.... and consequently he will not pay attention to what pleases the body either, and he will only ever be intent on collecting spiritual possessions, for earthly goods will no longer seem appealing to him. And that is only the blessed state for humanity, that it leaves the world and its goods unnoticed and turns to spiritual experience. Then people think, hear and see differently, i.e. always remembering their souls, and only this is spiritual progress, which is based on a certain renunciation, on overcoming oneself, on an inner struggle against that which is part of the adversary. And anyone who earnestly strives towards God will gladly and joyfully give up what is of benefit to his body, for he exchanges something more valuable in return.... an increased degree of maturity of the soul....

Il lavoro sull’anima - L’auto superamento

Più l’uomo lavora su di sé con solerzia, più successo avrà il suo tendere, perché allora ha la seria volontà per Dio e questa attira anche l’apporto di Forza che garantisce di nuovo un progresso spirituale. Il lavoro sull’anima esige un superamento di sé stesso e perciò è da affrontare soltanto quando l’uomo si esercita nell’auto superamento. Ciò che è conveniente per l’anima significa sempre una rinuncia o un sacrificio per il corpo e perciò è necessaria una forte volontà che è rivolta più alla sua anima che al corpo. Solo nel retrocedere il corpo si ottiene un successo spirituale e proprio questo è così difficile per l’uomo, perché il corpo si spingerà sempre avanti con i suoi desideri, mentre l’anima si deve quasi sempre accontentare quando la volontà dell’uomo la provvede scarsamente. Perciò l’anima può progredire nello sviluppo solo quando viene provveduta più che il corpo. Allora l’uomo non può fare abbastanza per provvedere alla sua anima, deve assolutamente esercitare l’amore e questa ha poi per conseguenza anche la Sapienza, la conoscenza. Ed appena l’uomo riconosce questo non può fare altro che sottomettersi alla Volontà divina, quindi fare ciò che è per la salvezza dell’anima. Chi tende d’adempiere solo la Volontà di Dio, a costui la Volontà divina verrà anche rivelata ed allora si separa volontariamente dalla materia, dai beni del mondo, e di conseguenza non bada nemmeno a ciò che è gradito al corpo e intende sempre soltanto raccogliere il patrimonio spirituale, perché i beni terreni non gli sembrano più affascinanti. E questo stato soltanto porta la Benedizione all’umanità che lascia inosservata il mondo ed i suoi beni e si rivolge all’esperienza spirituale. Allora gli uomini pensano, ascoltano e guardano diversamente, cioè pensando sempre alle loro anime e solo questo è progresso spirituale che si basa su una certa rinuncia, ad un auto superamento, ad una lotta interiore contro ciò che è parte dell’avversario. E chi tende seriamente verso Dio, dà anche volentieri e gioioso ciò che gli è di utilità per il corpo, perché ne scambia qualcosa di più prezioso, un aumentato grado di maturità dell’anima.
