Graces of the work of redemption....

These are the favours of the work of redemption, which Jesus Christ has acquired for men, that they are able to overcome their weakness of will, that they are no longer unable to resist the enemy of their soul, that power and favour flows to them unmeasured when they desire it, and that the slightest will towards God also lets them feel this power from God and that this is expressed in increased spiritual striving. The state of humanity before the redemption through Jesus Christ was pitiable.... it lacked any will to ascend, for people did not believe in life after death and only focussed on earthly advantages and physical comfort. They did believe in a God who could mould their earthly life according to His will, and so their pleas were only for the improvement of their earthly existence. No attention was paid to the soul and its moulding, and this resulted in a worldly-minded humanity to which spiritual striving was alien. This was the work of the adversary, who still had too much control over people's will, but who also drove them to be unkind to each other. For the sake of earthly well-being all means were right for people, and their thoughts and endeavours were evil and unloving. And at this time the lord descended to earth.... At this time lived the man Jesus, in Whose heart the desire for God was overwhelming and Whose goal in life was union with God.... Union with God was only possible in the most intimate love, and Jesus gave love to all people, He was inexhaustible in His love, and He took eternal love into Himself. Jesus saw people's weakness and that they lacked the will to do good.... He knew that only love could bring them salvation and He preached love to all people in order to snatch them from the power of the adversary. (But the will of the adversary was stronger and so he repeatedly forced the human will down).

By completely subordinating His will to God's will, by praying "Father, not My will but Yours be done...." Jesus Christ made God's will His own, He surrendered His will to God and took away the adversary's power over His will, and thus through His death on the cross He broke the adversary's will and likewise took humanity, for whom He died, away from the adversary's will, for the man Jesus suffered death on the cross in order to thereby set people free from their tormentor. And God accepted the sacrifice, and He gives increased strength to every person who wants to avail himself of the grace of the work of redemption and likewise surrenders his will to God.... For anyone who follows Jesus will also have the desire to flee from the one who wants to bind him. But if he does not recognize Jesus Christ, he belongs to those who are still bound by the will of God's adversary. He still has power over them and their own will is not strong enough to escape this power. He will always bend under his will and can therefore never be free. Jesus made the sacrifice for people who were too weak on their own (themselves?).... He opposed the will of the enemy with His strong will and the adversary could not withstand this will. For Jesus claimed the power from God, which flowed to Him through His intimate connection with God. And anyone who recognizes Jesus Christ as the divine redeemer will likewise be able to make use of God's strength, for this is the grace of the act of salvation, that the human being's will becomes strong in order to be able to resist.... that the human being receives the strength he needs to ascend. Jesus Christ has shown people the way that leads to the heights. This is also a grace, that man can take Him as an example so that he can live his life on earth according to His example.... in love and righteousness.... And anyone who is serious about following Jesus, who endeavours to shape his soul according to His example, who is constantly active in love, who patiently takes up his cross and only ever prays: "Father, Thy will be done....", will be strong and will escape the enemy of his soul. For by recognizing Jesus as the son of God and redeemer of the world, he has a right to the graces he has acquired from Him. The path upwards will become easy for him, he will never need to walk it without guidance, for the image of the saviour on the cross will always shine before him, and he knows that Jesus Christ died for him and that he has been spared immeasurable torment as a result. He knows that nothing will be too difficult for him because Jesus has given him strength through His death on the cross. He knows that his will will not waver when he asks Him for mercy, and he knows that the power of the adversary has diminished, that he can overcome him if he wants to, because the strength comes to him through his will. If this will is turned towards God, then the love of God takes hold of him and frees him completely from the power of the adversary. Before, however, man's will was so weak that he was not freed from that power. And Jesus took pity on this weakness of will.... He set His strong will against God's adversary and defeated him. And he who recognizes Jesus Christ will likewise defeat him because he consciously makes use of the blessings of the work of redemption....

구속역사의 은혜.

예수 그리스도가 인간을 위해 이룩한 구속 사역은 은혜이다. 이 은혜가 사람들이 그들의 약한 의지를 극복하게 하고, 사람들이 더 이상 그들의 혼의 원수에게 대적할 수 없는 가운데 머물지 않게 하고, 그들이 힘과 은혜를 갈망한다면, 그들에게 힘과 은혜가 측량할 수 없게 흘러가게 하고, 그들의 하나님을 향한 사소한 의지가 그들이 하나님으로부터 오는 힘을 느끼게 하고, 이런 역사가 영적인 추구가 증가되는 일로 나타난다.

예수 그리스도의 구속 이전의 인류의 상태는 불쌍했고, 혼에게 높은 곳으로 향하려는 어떤 의지도 없었다. 왜냐면 사람들에게 죽음 후의 계속 산다는 믿음이 부족했고, 그들이 추구하는 일은 단지 이 땅의 이익과 육체적인 행복을 위한 일이었기 때문이다.

그들은 실제 하나님의 뜻에 따라 그들의 이 땅의 삶을 형성할 수 있게 해주는 하나님을 믿었고, 그들의 요청은 단지 이 땅의 삶의 향상을 위한 것이었고, 혼과 혼의 형성에는 주의를 기울이지 않았다. 이로 인해 영적인 노력을 알지 못하는, 세상을 향한 자세를 가진 인류가 되었다.

이런 역사는 아직 인간의 의지를 아주 많이 자신의 권세 아래 두고 있고, 그들을 서로에게 대항하게 하면서 사랑을 잃게 만든 대적자의 역사였다. 세상의 복지를 위해서는 사람들에게 모든 수단이 옳았고, 그들이 생각하고, 추구하는 일은 악하고, 사랑이 없었다. 그런 때에 인간 예수가 살았다. 예수의 심장은 하나님을 향한 갈망이 아주 컷고, 그의 삶의 목표는 하나님과의 연합이었다.

하나님과의 연합은 단지 가장 긴밀한 사랑으로만 가능했다. 예수는 모든 사람에게 사랑을 주었고, 그의 사랑은 고갈될 수 없었다. 예수는 영원한 사랑을 자신 안에 모셨다. 예수는 인간의 연약함을 보았고, 그들에게 선을 행하려는 의지가 부족함을 보았다. 그는 단지 사랑만이 그들을 구원할 수 있음을 알았고, 모든 사람에게 사랑을 설교했다. 이로써 사람들이 대적자의 권세를 벗어나게 했다. 그러나 대적자의 의지는 더 강했고, 그러므로 대적자가 항상 또 다시 인간의 의지를 짓눌렀다.

예수 그리스도는 “아버지, 내 뜻이 아니라, 당신의 뜻을 이루소서.” 라는 기도를 통해 하나님의 의지를 자신의 의지로 만들면서, 자신의 뜻을 하나님의 뜻에 완전히 복종시켰다. 그는 자신의 뜻을 하나님께 드렸고, 대적자로부터 자신의 의지에 대한 권세를 빼앗았다. 그는 자신의 십자가의 죽음을 통해, 대적자의 의지를 꺽고, 자신이 인류를 위해 죽은 인류를 자유롭게 했다. 왜냐하면 인간 예수가, 십자가의 죽음을 통해 사람들에게 고통을 주는 자로부터 사람들을 해방시키기 위해, 십자가에서 죽음의 고난을 당했기 때문이다.

하나님은 희생을 받아들였고, 구속 사역의 은혜를 활용하기를 원하고, 동시에 하나님께 자신의 의지를 드리는 모든 사람에게 더 큰 힘을 준다. 왜냐면 예수를 따르는 사람은 또한 자신을 묶기 원하는 자로부터 도피하려는 갈망을 갖게 될 것이기 때문이다. 그러나 그가 예수 그리스도를 깨닫지 못한다면, 그는 아직 하나님의 대적자의 의지에 묶여있는 사람들에 속해 있다.

대적자는 아직 그들에 대한 권세를 가지고 있고, 그들 자신의 의지는 대적자의 권세에서 벗어날 만큼 충분하게 강하지 않다. 그들은 반복적으로 대적자의 의지에 순복할 것이다. 그러므로 그들은 자유롭게 될 수 없다. 예수는 혼자서는 너무 약한 사람들을 위해 희생을 치렀다. 예수는 자신의 강한 의지로 대적자의 의지에 저항했고, 대적자는 이 의지를 견뎌낼 수 없었다. 왜냐면 예수는 하나님과의 긴밀한 관계를 통해 자신에게 흐르는 하나님의 힘을 활용했기 때문이다.

예수 그리스도를 하나님의 구세주로 인정하는 사람은 마찬가지로 하나님의 힘을 사용할 수 있게 될 것이다. 왜냐면 인간의 의지가 강해지는 일이, 사람이 높은 곳으로 향하는 데, 필요한 힘을 얻는 일이 구속 사역의 은혜이기 때문이다. 예수 그리스도는 사람들에게 높은 곳으로 인도하는 길을 보여주었다.

또한 인간이 예수를 모범으로 삼는 일이, 이로써 그가 이 땅에서 그의 삶을 예수를 모범으로 삼아, 사랑과 공의 안에서 사는 일이 은혜이다. 예수를 따르는 일에 대해 진지한 사람은, 예수를 모범으로 삼아 자신의 혼을 형성하려고 노력하는 사람은, 끊임없이 사랑으로 일하는 사람은, 자신의 십자가를 인내하며 짊어지고, 항상 단지 “아버지, 당신의 뜻을 이루소서" 하고 기도하는 사람은 그의 의지가 강하게 될 것이고, 자신의 혼의 원수로부터 자신을 자유롭게 할 것이다.

왜냐면 예수를 하나님의 아들이자 세상의 구세주로 인정함으로써, 그는 자신이 얻은 은혜를 받을 권리가 있기 때문이다. 위로 향하는 길이 그에게 쉽게 될 것이다. 그는 이 길을 절대로 인도가 없이 갈 필요가 없게 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 십자가의 구세주의 형상이 항상 그에게 빛을 비추고, 그는 예수 그리스도가 자신을 위해 죽었고, 그로 인해 그가 헤아릴 수 없는 고통을 면했다는 것을 알기 때문이다. 그는 자신에게 어떤 일도 어렵게 되지 않을 것을 안다. 왜냐면 예수가 십자가의 죽음을 통해 그에게 힘을 주기 때문이다.

그가 예수께 긍휼을 구할 때, 그는 자신의 의지가 흔들리지 않게 될 것을 안다. 그는 대적자의 권세가 줄어들었다는 것을 알고, 자신이 원한다면, 그가 대적자를 극복할 수 있다는 것을 안다. 왜냐면 그의 의지를 통해 그에게 힘이 공급되기 때문이다.

그가 하나님께 향하면, 하나님의 사랑이 그를 붙잡고, 그를 대적자의 권세로부터 완전히 해방시킨다. 그러나 그 전에는 인간의 의지가 너무 약해서, 대적자의 권세로부터 해방될 수 없었다. 인간 예수는 이런 의지의 연약함을 긍휼히 여겼다. 그는 자신의 강한 의지로 하나님의 대적자에게 대항하여, 그를 패배시켰다. 예수 그리스도를 인정하는 사람은 마찬가지로 대적자를 패배시킬 것이다. 왜냐면 그가 의식적으로 구속역사의 은혜를 활용하기 때문이다.
