Fear of death - love of the world....

As soon as a fear of death takes hold of the human being, the spirit has not yet become active in him, and thus the soul has not yet decided in his favour but still takes too much account of worldly pleasures. Thus the soul has not yet fulfilled its earthly task and this depresses it when it thinks of its near end. For unconsciously it feels that it will then have a limit. Through the direct connection with God knowledge can be imparted to the soul, but always only through the fellow human being, since its own spirit is not yet awakened. The human being can now make use of this imparted knowledge by endeavouring to live in accordance with divine requirements. Then he will soon be able to hear the voice within himself, the expression of the divine spirit in the human being, and from that moment on his state of soul will also lift, which will be noticeable through complete indifference towards earthly pleasures and enjoyments. Then man gladly gives away what belongs to the world.... then all fear of death is also invalid. For what he no longer considers desirable has lost its appeal and no longer binds man to this world. He who despises the world never has to fear the hour of death, he enters quietly and painlessly through the gate to eternity, he longs for his true home with its glory and understandably gives up everything for it. If therefore the fear of the hour of death still oppresses man, then he is not yet completely free of earthly desire, and this must first be overcome, man must turn more intimately to God, spend his life in active neighbourly love; he must pray often and intimately that God helps him to a peaceful hour of death, he must devote himself completely to God, entrust his needs and worries to Him in faith and then leave the future to Him. And the inclination towards the earthly will dwindle, the desire for the spiritual, on the other hand, will grow, and the anxiety before the hour of death will give way, for the human being will then mould himself as he should be in order to be able to enter into eternal life....

Todesfurcht - Liebe zur Welt....

Sowie sich des Menschen eine Todesfurcht bemächtigt, ist in ihm der Geist noch nicht tätig geworden, und also hat die Seele sich noch nicht entschieden für ihn, sondern sie trägt den weltlichen Genüssen noch zu sehr Rechnung. Es hat also die Seele noch nicht ihre Erdenaufgabe erfüllt, und das bedrückt sie, so sie an ihr nahes Ende denkt. Denn unbewußt empfindet sie es, daß ihr dann eine Grenze gesetzt ist. Durch die direkte Verbindung mit Gott kann der Seele ein Wissen vermittelt werden, jedoch immer erst durch den Mitmenschen, da ihr eigener Geist noch nicht erweckt ist. Dieses ihm vermittelte Wissen kann der Mensch nun nützen, indem er den göttlichen Anforderungen entsprechend zu leben sich bemüht. Dann gelingt es ihm auch bald, die Stimme in sich, die Äußerung des göttlichen Geistes im Menschen, selbst zu vernehmen, und von Stund an hebt sich auch sein Seelenzustand, was sich bemerkbar macht durch völlige Gleichgültigkeit gegenüber irdischen Freuden und Genüssen. Dann gibt der Mensch gern dahin, was der Welt angehört.... dann ist auch jegliche Todesfurcht hinfällig. Denn was er nicht mehr für begehrenswert hält, hat seinen Reiz verloren und fesselt den Menschen nun auch nicht mehr an diese Welt. Wer die Welt verachtet, hat niemals zu fürchten die Stunde des Todes, er geht still und schmerzlos durch das Tor zur Ewigkeit ein, er sehnt sich nach der wahren Heimat mit seiner Herrlichkeit und gibt um dieses verständlicherweise alles hin. Wenn also die Furcht vor der Todesstunde den Menschen noch bedrückt, so ist er noch nicht gänzlich frei von irdischer Begierde, und es muß diese zuerst überwunden werden, es muß der Mensch sich Gott inniger zuwenden, sein Leben in tätiger Nächstenliebe verbringen; er muß oft und innig beten, daß Gott ihm helfe zu einer friedvollen Sterbestunde, er muß sich gänzlich Gott hingeben, Ihm seine Nöte und Sorgen gläubig anvertrauen und dann Ihm die Zukunft überlassen. Und es wird der Hang zum Irdischen schwinden, das Verlangen nach dem Geistigen dagegen wachsen, und die Bangigkeit vor der Todesstunde wird weichen, denn es formt sich dann der Mensch so, wie er sein soll, um eingehen zu können in das ewige Leben....
