Materialists.... concept of God.... own will....

What man rebels against most is the acknowledgement of a power that he does not see or somehow perceive. As a person still standing in matter himself, he is still material to such an extent that only that which he is able to see or whose existence can somehow be proven is a concept to him. However, he rejects everything else as implausible as long as matter holds him captive. Only at the moment when matter begins to lose its value for man has the concept of God become comprehensible to him; he now begins to believe in a being, a power, without being able to prove its existence. However, he will not come to full realization until he himself has made contact with the eternal deity, even if unconsciously. The mere consideration that the whole universe must be controlled by a higher being gives rise to frequent reflection, and the human being occupies himself in spirit with the supreme being and begins to recognize the controller of the universe in all works of creation.... From now on he is far more interested in everything that points to the divine creator than in matter, which only appears to be a hindrance to him and is therefore avoided, i.e. fought against, by him more than ever. It can now also be understood how little can be successfully spoken of spiritual things to a materialist, because everything that cannot be grasped or felt by him with his hands appears questionable and untrustworthy to him.... And all talk in this regard is in vain until matter no longer appeals to him or he is obviously made aware of the work of the eternal deity through painful events. The lack of spiritual knowledge is often not so disadvantageous for such a person, for he would outright deny it or regard it as the pipe dream of a fantasist, and therefore such a person should remain in his ignorance until he himself has a desire for it and expresses this through a thoughtful nature and willing detachment from everything worldly.... combined with a steadily growing desire for spiritual truths. Such a person can penetrate far deeper into the spiritual realm if such a transformation has taken place within him, however, this transformation must have taken place of his own free will, there must be no human influence whatsoever, for it is precisely such initial deniers of God who are extraordinarily mentally active, and if they deal with this problem of divinity in the first place, they will certainly get on the right path through the mental influence of the spiritual helpers, whereas human influence would only strengthen their will to reject and thus the goal would be more difficult to achieve. However, it is not disadvantageous to direct such people's thoughts towards areas which were previously foreign to them so that they are offered the opportunity to decide for themselves.... but free will should do the rest....

Materialistas.... Concepto de Dios.... Voluntad propia....

Contra lo que más se rebela el hombre es el reconocimiento de un poder que no ve ni percibe tangiblemente de ninguna manera. El ser humano, aun estando en la materia, sigue siendo material en la medida en que sólo tiene como concepto de lo que es capaz de ver o cuya existencia de alguna manera puede probarse. Todo lo demás, sin embargo, lo rechaza como inverosímil mientras la materia le mantenga cautivo. Sólo en el momento en que esto comienza a perder valor para el hombre, el concepto de Dios se ha vuelto comprensible para él; ahora comienza a creer en un ser, en un poder, sin poder probar su existencia. Sin embargo, no llegará al pleno conocimiento hasta que él mismo haya sentido la Deidad eterna, aunque inconscientemente.

El solo hecho de considerar que todo el universo tiene que ser controlado por un ser superior da motivo de reflexión frecuente, y el ser humano se ocupa del Ser más elevado en espíritu y comienza a reconocer al Gobernante del universo en todas las obras de la creación.... A partir de ahora tiene mucho más interés en todo lo que apunta al Creador divino que en la materia, que él mismo ve sólo como un obstáculo y por lo tanto es más evitado o combatido por él.

Ahora también es posible comprender cuán infructuoso es hablarle a un materialista de cosas espirituales, porque todo le parece cuestionable e inverosímil lo que no puede agarrar o sentir con sus manos.... Y todos los discursos pertinentes quedan en vano hasta que la materia ya no le atrae o a través de sucesos dolorosas se le señala aparentemente a la obra de la Deidad eterna. La falta de conocimiento espiritual a menudo no es tan desventajosa para tal hombre porque él lo negaría rotundamente o lo consideraría como las fantasías de un soñador, y por lo tanto tal hombre debería permanecer en su ignorancia hasta que el mismo lo desee y lo exprese a través de su naturaleza pensativa y desapego voluntario de todo lo mundano.... combinado con un deseo cada vez mayor de verdades espirituales.

Tal persona puede penetrar mucho más profundamente en el área espiritual cuando tal transformación ha tenido lugar en su interior, pero esta transformación debe haber ocurrido por su propia voluntad, no debe haber influencia humana alguna, porque son precisamente esos negadores ateos iniciales los que son extraordinariamente activos mentalmente, y una vez que se ocupen de este problema de la Divinidad en primer lugar, seguramente llegarán al camino correcto a través de la influencia mental de los asistentes espirituales, mientras que una influencia por parte de los humanos solo fortalecería su voluntad de rechazarlo y, por lo tanto, el objetivo se vuelve difícil de lograr. Sin embargo, no es desventajoso dirigir el pensamiento de tales personas hacia áreas que hasta ahora les han sido ajenas, de modo que se les dé la oportunidad de tomar sus propias decisiones.... pero el libre albedrío debe hacer todo lo demás....
