Receive without interference....

You must obey the inner voice and thus accept what is offered to you. It took a long time before the words became audible to you, which always happens when matter is too opposed to spiritual endeavour. And this was the case because of the food, which did not yet allow the body to fully rest and therefore also had a hindering effect on the spiritual experience. Full rest must first occur in order to guarantee the reception of spiritual gifts without disturbance. Every material substance is in opposition to the spiritual sphere, and so an unhindered reception of spiritual goods can only take place when all bodily heaviness falls away and the spirit can and will only occupy itself with spiritual things. As soon as a certain calm has set in and the body can be completely switched off, absorption is also considerably easier and therefore you will have to reckon with resistance and heavy absorption as long as you still pay too much attention to the body and its needs. If you can put all such things to one side and immediately place yourself in the state of absorption, then every burden on the body will soon disappear, you will become insensitive to physical inhibitions and complaints, and you will be completely detached from matter for the duration of the absorption.

If you try to reach this state by surrendering yourself with full will to the spiritual power alone, without paying attention to your surroundings or the body that hinders you, this endeavour will be crowned with great success and your work will only become more and more perfect. Jesus gave His disciples an extremely valuable teaching on the Mount of Olives and tried to make clear to them the concept of the unhindered penetration of God's power into the believing earthly man who withdraws from the world.

And it happened while He was speaking that they all felt the power in themselves and were thus able to follow Him spiritually without any actual effort on their part. This power will also pass into you if only you expect this power in full faith and desire to accept it. And so turn today to the truths that are to come to you on behalf of the lord:

Every soul has within itself the urge towards the eternal deity, but it is prevented by the body from fulfilling this urge. An eternal law determines the soul to the same activity of the body assigned to it, and this law has to be complied with until the body, as mere matter, separates from the soul again, i.e., until the soul becomes free from the earthly cover. However, for its time on earth every soul chooses for itself the body in which it can best attain the necessary maturity.... for in every soul slumber the instincts of so many unrefined nature spirits which, after thousands of years, have finally united to form a spiritual being in order to strive for their final perfection in the human shell.

However, just as those nature spirits were previously active in creation, they will also have to fulfil a similar purpose in the human body.... certain characteristics will always appear at equal intervals, which find their explanation in the soul's previous life. And so the body will often have to adapt to these previous states, which is why there is often talk of heredity. The more versatile the human being is as such, the more different soul particles his soul has to show and the more difficult the battle will be which such a soul has to endure in earthly life, for the body enters into every desire of the soul and both soul and body must now try to become master of all these peculiarities which are therefore inherent in the human being during the time on earth in co-operation.... And thus the human being must always bear in mind the body's relationship to the soul.... just as the body's activity should only ever serve the soul's redemption, so that such a redeemed soul will find its way back to the deity. But how, on the other hand, the soul suffers immense agony when it is held back from its true destiny by the body's resistance and its worldly desires and the dark shell around it becomes denser and denser.... All efforts of such a soul to break through the burdening shell are in vain if the body does not help it, for the body alone creates or removes the obstacles surrounding the soul. And in this realization the human being must constantly endeavour to serve his soul incessantly, i.e. to support it with all his strength to get rid of its shackles, and thus the body must always defeat itself where the soul's characteristics can be felt particularly strongly.... for the body has the greatest power to fight precisely such characteristics, since the nature of the body has been allocated to the soul in precisely the way it needs it....

Ontvangen zonder storing

Je moet aandachtig luisteren naar de innerlijke stem en zodoende aannemen wat je geboden wordt. Het heeft een lange tijd nodig gehad vooraleer de woorden hoorbaar voor je werden. Dit gebeurt altijd wanneer de materie te veel weerstand biedt aan het geestelijke streven. En dit kwam door de spijs die het lichaam nog niet de volle rust gunde en zodoende de geestelijke ervaring hinderde.

Er moet eerst een totale rust intreden om het ontvangen van de geestelijke gaven zonder storing te vrijwaren. Elke materiële substantie is tegengesteld aan de geestelijke sfeer en daarom kan het opnemen van geestelijk goed ook alleen maar plaatsvinden wanneer elke lichamelijke last wegvalt en wanneer de geest zich alleen maar met geestelijke zaken kan en wil bezighouden.

Zodra er nu een zekere rust is ingetreden en het lichaam totaal uitgeschakeld kan worden, is ook het ontvangen beduidend eenvoudiger. En daarom zul je, zolang je het lichaam met zijn behoeften nog teveel aandacht schenkt, met weerstand en moeizame opnamen rekening moeten houden.

Als je al dergelijke dingen naar de achtergrond kunt schuiven en je meteen in de opnametoestand plaatsen, dan zal spoedig ook elke belasting van het lichaam verdwijnen. Je zult ongevoelig worden voor lichamelijke remmingen en ongemakken. En je zult voor de tijdsduur van de opname volledig losgemaakt zijn van de materie.

Probeer deze toestand te bereiken door je met je totale wil alleen maar aan de geestelijke kracht over te geven, zonder te letten op de omgeving of het lichaam dat je hindert. Dan zal dit streven met groot succes bekroond worden en je werk zal steeds alleen maar volmaakter worden.

Jezus gaf Zijn leerlingen op de Olijfberg een zeer waardevolle les en Hij probeerde hen ook een duidelijk begrip te geven van het ongehinderd binnendringen van de goddelijke kracht in gelovige mensen op aarde die zich van de hele wereld terugtrekken. En terwijl Hij sprak, geschiedde het dat iedereen de kracht in zichzelf voelde en zo konden ze Hem geestelijk volgen zonder hun eigen toedoen. Deze kracht zal ook in jou overgaan als je deze kracht maar met heel je geloof verwacht en haar verlangt te ontvangen.

En richt je nu op de waarheden die je in opdracht van de Heer zullen toekomen: Elke ziel bevat de drang naar de eeuwige Godheid, maar het lichaam verhindert haar om deze drang te volgen. Een eeuwige wet bestemt de ziel voor tot dezelfde werkzaamheid als het lichaam dat haar is toegewezen. En aan deze wet moet zolang worden beantwoord, totdat het lichaam, als louter materie, zich weer van de ziel losmaakt, dat wil zeggen totdat de ziel vrij wordt van het aardse omhulsel.

Maar elke ziel zoekt voor de tijd op aarde zelf haar lichaam uit, waarin ze de rijpheid die ze nodig heeft, het beste kan bereiken. Want in elke ziel sluimeren de driften van zeer veel ongelouterde natuurgeesten, die zich na duizenden jaren eindelijk tot een geestelijk wezen verenigd hebben om in het menselijke omhulsel hun laatste voltooiing na te streven. Maar zoals deze natuurgeesten voorheen werkzaam waren in de schepping, zo zullen ze ook in het menselijke lichaam een gelijkaardig doel moeten vervullen. Er zullen steeds met regelmatige tussenpozen bepaalde eigenschappen optreden die hun verklaring vinden in het verleden van de ziel. En het lichaam zal zich dus vaak aan de voorafgaande toestanden moeten aanpassen. Om die reden is er dan vaak sprake van overerving.

Hoe veelzijdiger de mens als zodanig is, des te meer verschillende zielenpartikeltjes zijn ziel vertoont en des te moeilijker ook de strijd zal zijn die deze ziel in het leven op aarde heeft te doorstaan. Want het lichaam gaat in op elk verlangen van de ziel. En nu moeten zowel de ziel als het lichaam gedurende de tijd op aarde in samenwerking trachten, al deze eigenaardigheden die zo een mens aankleven, meester te worden.

En zo moet de mens zich steeds voorstellen in welke verhouding het lichaam tot de ziel staat, hoe de activiteit van het lichaam steeds alleen maar de ziel moet dienen ter wille van haar verlossing, zodat de verloste ziel de weg terugvindt naar de Godheid. Maar anderzijds lijdt de ziel onder mateloze kwellingen wanneer ze door de weerstand van het lichaam en zijn wereldlijke begeertes van haar ware bestemming wordt weggehouden en de donkere huls rondom haar steeds dichter en dichter wordt.

Alle inspanningen van deze ziel om het omhulsel dat haar belast te doorbreken, zijn vergeefs als het lichaam haar niet behulpzaam is. Want alleen het lichaam schept of verwijdert de hindernissen waarmee de ziel omgeven is. En met dit inzicht moet de mens zich verder blijven inzetten om zijn ziel vastberaden te dienen, dat wil zeggen haar met alle kracht te ondersteunen om vrij te worden van haar boeien. En het lichaam moet zichzelf steeds overwinnen waar de eigen aard van de ziel bijzonder sterk voelbaar is. Want het lichaam heeft juist de grootste macht om dit te bestrijden, want de hoedanigheid van het lichaam is precies zo aan de ziel gegeven als het voor haar nodig is.
