5486 Transformation of the will.... the overcoming of matter....

September 14, 1952: Book 60

The spirit which still keeps you bound to the earth opposes Me, for everything you desire belongs to him; it is a spiritual, still in his possession that is far away from Me yet, which he wants to prevent from returning back to Me. Even you as a human being are considerably advanced in your development already and yet, you are still under his control as long as you have not yet learned to despise matter as something that is still fully and completely belonging to him. You need to know about the spiritual connection, you need to know that everything visible to you is an imperfect spiritual, therefore is part of My adversary. Now, if this also holds your senses captive, then you are still in his domain, compliant towards him. But if you can free yourselves from it.... from the desire for that which belongs to him.... then you will also escape his control, then you will lift yourselves from the earth into the kingdom of the spirit, as it were, which belongs to Me and which, according to your destiny, you ought to inhabit in order to be able to work and manage in it according to My will. On earth you shall accomplish this transformation of your will, you shall learn to despise the material world, you shall learn to see it for what it really is.... a conglomerate of immature spiritual substances, still in opposition to Me, which are to purify themselves.... You should therefore place yourselves above matter, because you are the spiritual being ranked the highest in the development on this earthly material world, and you should strive to sever the last ties with this world but, instead, establish a bond with the kingdom where I am Ruler, where everything is spiritualized and unspeakably happy. You should consciously free yourselves from My adversary's dominion and come to Me.... But as long as matter still captivates you, as long as you feel a desire for it, you are not free yet from his dominion and therefore not yet suitable for the spiritual kingdom, for I want to possess your undivided love, I want to capture all of your thinking; only then I can work in you when you are completely free from his entity. But freedom, strength and light will then be your share, the spiritual substance in you will then have liberated itself from his power and lifted itself up to Me, from Whom it now can no longer separate itself eternally. As long as you stay on earth he will constantly tempt you, yet without the desire for matter you are immune to his temptations, you then will have overcome matter, you then will only desire the goods of the spiritual kingdom, and in possession of these goods you will be strong and thus also victorious over the one who is My adversary.... But having overcome him means having become My child, to be aspirants of My kingdom that is not of this world, which gives you bliss that is immeasurable and which truly outweighs the difficult battle on earth against the adversary but which can never be acquired other than through a battle....
