B.D.-No. 1914

(In the manuscript copy the heading is missing, see) Nr. 1916 - Sin of lovelessness....

The God-opposing will was the cause of the apostasy from God, and this God-opposing will was therefore the antithesis of God, i.e., the essence of the opposing will strove away from God and towards the very power which had kindled this opposing will, which therefore consciously opposed God. And this was an entity which was of divine origin, thus a highly perfect being which, however, was also free to oppose God, since freedom of will is absolutely part of perfection. It is now to be understood that the beingness that came into being through the will of this power also had to carry the free will within itself, i.e. it was forced into a degree of imperfection through no fault of its own. Therefore God gave this being the right of self-determination, so that it could again freely choose its master. And now, of its own free will, the beingness decided in favour of God's adversary. Consequently, it was no longer blameless, for in order to be able to decide this being, which carried darkness within itself as a sign of distance from God, had to come into contact with the light in order to know about it.... But it waged a battle against the full of light in order to draw the full of light down to itself, and this was an open rebellion against God. So the beingness became sinful.... And in order to be able to be free again from this sin of the former rebellion against God, everything was created.... heaven and earth, all world bodies.... the entire creation. And now the beingness walks through this creation always only towards the one goal of coming close to God in order to become full of light.... in order to become what it once has been but spurned. Creation harbours the beingness within itself, which is even further or closer to God, but all beingness is removed from the influence of God's adversary as long as it goes through the individual works of creation. However, the being cannot be systematically guided upwards because then it would only be a directed being, i.e. it would have reached its state of maturity without will, which would exclude the degree of perfection. Consequently, its will has to be tested anew as to whether it decides in favour of God or His adversary. Thus he must be given free will for a time and at the same time God's adversary must be allowed to enter and influence the being again. But likewise also the influence of the light beings is allowed so that therefore the being can really freely decide in favour of God or his opponent. And both now develop their activity and fight for the being, which has to pass this test of will as man on earth.... Before Christ's act of salvation the adversary's influence and power was immense and the will, although free, was extraordinarily weakened by precisely this power of its creator. And divine love took pity on him.... However, God could not intervene by force in order not to make the perfection of the being an impossibility. So He had to come to the beings' aid Himself.... As the representative of these enslaved beings He had to take up the fight against the one who had bound the will of men through his power.... He had to fight against him, but he had to fight with means that were the only ones that could break the power of the adversary.... He had to fight with means of love, for the adversary was powerless against them. And out of love for people the God-man Jesus allowed Himself to be nailed to the cross and thereby overcame death.... i.e. the bound will and at the same time the one who had bound the will.... And from the very beginning the path was clear for everyone who, like Jesus, wanted to take this path, for he must likewise take the path of love, but also in faith in the divine saviour of humanity. The human being who is in love will also be able to recognize and affirm Jesus Christ as redeemer, for he is, as it were, in the closest union with Him if he is in love, i.e. if he is lovingly active on earth. The adversary has little influence over him and therefore cannot deprive him of the knowledge of Jesus' divinity. Consequently, Jesus Christ will be recognized as the son of God and redeemer of the world by all those who have freed themselves from the power of God's adversary through loving activity. However, those who reject Him are still under his influence and therefore also still bound by his will.... They can only become free from it if they.... if they are too weak to offer resistance on their own authority or to lovingly.... fervently ask for the favours of the work of redemption. The will to take the right path to God will also give them the strength. For Jesus Christ laid down His life so that this will would be strengthened, so that the human being, if he wants to free himself from the opposing power, can also do so if he confesses Jesus Christ....

Amen
