Trennen von der Materie.... Überheblichkeit.... Bewußtsein der Schwäche....

Es ist von unnennbarem Vorteil, wenn aller Hang zur Materie im Menschen erstickt wird, wenn sich der Geist frei machen kann von dieser und so ungehindert den Flug ins Unendliche nehmen kann. Die Welt hält mit ehernen Fesseln die Seele auf der Erde, und nur einem starken Willen gelingt es, solche Fesseln zu lösen, und wenn nun für die Zeit des Erdendaseins jegliche Kraft fehlt und der Mensch sich willenlos treiben läßt vom Sturm der Leidenschaft, entfesselt sich der Welt Treiben.... Dann wird der Geist niemals sich frei aufschwingen können und erheben über die Erdensphäre, er wird vielmehr gefangengehalten.... es kommt nur der Körper mit seinem Verlangen nach weltlicher Erfüllung zu seinem Recht, die Seele aber wird schlecht bedacht.... sie darbt und leidet unsäglich, sich nicht entfalten zu können und ihrer Befreiung von der Materie nachgehen zu dürfen. An der Schwelle des Todes fällt es dem Menschen oft wie Schuppen von den Augen, und er erkennt die Größe seiner Schuld, die unsägliche Qualen im Jenseits nach sich zieht. Die Seele aus Gott bleibt in ihrem Wesen stets die gleiche, sie ist nur vom Wege der Erkenntnis abgefallen.... sie ist gleichsam einer Überheblichkeit zum Opfer gefallen und kann nur in umgekehrter Weise wieder nach oben gelangen.... durch das Erkennen ihrer Schwäche und das starke Verlangen, von Gott in Liebe wieder aufgenommen zu werden. Dies ist auf Erden als schwaches irdisches Geschöpf am ehesten zu erreichen, denn das Bewußtsein ihrer Schwäche und Unzulänglichkeit läßt sie demütig und bittend sich dem Schöpfer nahen.... Wenn aber das Erdendasein statt dessen wieder ein überhebliches Wesen zeitigt, das sich seinem Schöpfer nicht demütig unterwerfen will, so muß nun im Jenseits die überaus schwere Umwandlung dieser Seele zustande gebracht werden und es werden daher dort die Leiden zum Zwecke der Läuterung weitaus schmerzlicher sein als auf Erden, und ehe eine solche Seele entschlackt ist von allem Unreinen, vergeht oft sehr lange Zeit und es bleibt so mancher Seele großes Leid erspart, bis (wenn = d. Hg.) sie sich auf Erden angelegen sein läßt, den Reifezustand zu erlangen....

Separation from the matter.... arrogance.... consciousness of weakness....

It is of incalculable advantage if all inclination towards matter is stifled in the human being, if the spirit can free itself from it and thus take flight into infinity unhindered. The world holds the soul on earth with iron fetters, and only a strong will succeeds in loosening such fetters, and if now for the time of earthly existence all strength is lacking and man lets himself be driven without will by the storm of passion, the world's drive unleashes itself.... Then the spirit will never be able to soar freely and rise above the earthly sphere, it will rather be held captive.... only the body with its desire for worldly fulfilment comes into its own, but the soul is poorly considered.... it languishes and suffers unspeakably, unable to unfold and pursue its liberation from matter. At the threshold of death, the scales often fall from a person's eyes and he realizes the extent of his guilt, which entails unspeakable torment in the afterlife. The soul from God always remains the same in its essence, it has only fallen away from the path of knowledge.... it has, as it were, fallen victim to arrogance and can only ascend again in the opposite way.... through the recognition of its weakness and the strong desire to be received again by God in love. This is most likely to be achieved on earth as a weak earthly creature, because the awareness of its weakness and inadequacy allows it to approach the creator humbly and pleadingly.... But if, instead, earthly existence again produces an arrogant being which does not want to humbly submit to its creator, then the extremely difficult transformation of this soul must now be brought about in the beyond and the suffering for the purpose of purification will therefore be far more painful there than on earth, and before such a soul is purged of all impurity, a very long time often passes and many a soul is spared great suffering until (if) it allows itself to reach the state of maturity on earth....
