단지 사랑이 구원한다. 심장을 가꾸는 일.

사람들을 높은 곳으로 인도하는 것은 단지 사랑이다. 사람이 깊은 곳에서 높은 곳으로, 빛으로 도달하기 위해 필요한 변화를 가능하게 해주는 것은 단지 사랑이다. 다른 어떤 것도 그를 구원해줄 수 없고, 다른 어떤 것도 사랑을 대신할 수 없고, 사랑 외에 다른 어떤 것도 그를 하나님 가까이로 인도할 수 없다. 비록 사람이 이 땅에서 자신의 의무를 다하고, 그에게 주어진 요구에 엄격하게 주의하고, 지킨다 할지라도, 유일하게 사랑 외에는 다른 어떤 것도 그의 성장을 보장해주지 못한다. 왜냐하면 이 사랑이 혼을 변화시키고, 혼이 자원하여 자신을 열게 하고, 자신 안의 영에게 자유를 주게 하기 때문이다. 이런 영의 역사는 혼이 높이 성장하도록 보장해주고, 이런 성장이 없이는 영원 가운데 삶을 생각할 수 없다.

그러나 사랑이 하나님 자신이다. 그러므로 사람이 시작하는 모든 일 안에, 모든 일 곁에 하나님이 함께해야만 한다. 사람이 사랑 안에서 살면, 하나님을 그는 자신 안에 전적으로 영접한다. 그러면 그의 이 땅의 삶은 완성에 이른다. 왜냐하면 하나님 자신이 그 안에 거하고, 자신의 뜻에 따라 역사할 수 있기 때문이다. 하나님과 사랑은 하나이다. 그러므로 사람들이 이성을 통해 하나님을 구한다 할지라도, 하나님은 단지 사랑으로만 찾을 수 있다. 하나님을 알고, 하나님이 존재한다는 믿음이 사람들을 영원한 신성에게 가까 가게 해주지 않는다. 그가 사랑의 역사를 통해 의식적으로 하나님을 추구한다면, 하나님께 가까이 가려는 진지한 의지가 있는 것이다. 그러면 비로소 심장을 통해 그에게 주어지는 올바른 깨달음이 그에게 임한다.

이처럼 하나님의 나라에 갈 수 있기 위해 사랑은 절대적으로 필요하다. 사랑은 모든 것을 극복한다. 사랑은 가장 힘든 싸움 가운데서도 승리자로 남는다. 왜냐하면 사람의 사랑의 삶을 통해 그 안에 거하는 하나님 자신이 사랑의 삶을 사는 사람과 함께 하기 때문이다. 사랑 자체인 하나님이 언제 그 안에 거할 지는 사람의 사랑의 정도가 정한다. 하나님은 단지 사랑이 이런 변화를 이룬 곳에, 사람이 자기 자신을 하나님의 뜻대로 형성한 곳에 거할 수 있다.

그는 심장으로 겸손하고, 온유하고, 평화를 심고, 인내하는 사람이 되어야만 한다. 이 모든 성품에 도달하게 하는 것은 사랑이다. 왜냐하면 그는 자신에 대한 사랑보다 하나님과 이웃 사람들을 우선에 두고, 항상 자신을 적게 생각할 것이기 때문이다. 그는 자신을 위해 어떤 것도 요구하지 않고, 항상 베풀 것이다. 그는 판단하지 않고, 이해하고 용서할 것이다. 그는 싸움을 구하지 않고, 모든 거만을 다스릴 것이다. 그는 이웃사람들의 연약함을 이해하기 때문에 인내할 것이다.

그는 자신의 성품을 변화시켜, 하나님의 뜻에 맞게 형성시킨다. 이렇게 형성된 혼 안에 하나님 자신이 거할 수 있다. 이로써 충만한 사랑이 사람 안에 거할 것이다. 그는 사랑을 행하는 일 외에는 다른 일을 할 수 없을 것이다. 왜냐하면 그 안에 거하는 하나님 자신이 이제 그의 모든 행하는 일과 생각하는 일을 인도하기 때문이다. 하나님이 있는 곳에는 깊은 곳이 없고, 어두움이 없고, 자유하지 못한 상태가 더 이상 없다. 하나님이 있는 곳에는 빛과 자유함이 있다. 하나님이 있는 곳에는 평화와 축복이 있다. 사랑이 사람들을 구원했다.

Only love redeems.... shaping of the heart....

It is only love that leads man upwards, and it is only through love that a transformation takes place in him that is necessary in order to move from the depths to the heights, to the light. Nothing else can redeem him, nothing else can replace love, and nothing else but love can lead him closer to God.... And even if a person lives his life on earth in fulfilment of duty and strict observation and fulfilment of the demands placed on him, nothing guarantees his progress but love alone. For this transforms the soul and makes it willing to open itself and give freedom to the spirit within. And the working of the spirit ensures the soul's higher development.... the maturing without which a life in eternity is inconceivable.... But love is God Himself.... So God must be in everything and with everything that man begins.... And the human being has completely accepted Him in himself if he lives in love, and then his life on earth must bring him perfection because God Himself is in him and can work according to His will. God and love are one, and therefore God can only be found through love, although He is sought intellectually. The knowledge of God and the belief in Him, that He exists, does not bring the human being closer to the eternal deity.... he will only consciously strive for Him through activity of love, then the serious will to come close to Him will be present and only then will the right realization follow, which is imparted to him by way of the heart.... And thus love is indispensable in order to be able to enter the kingdom of God.... Love overcomes everything, it remains victorious even in the most difficult battle, because the one who lives in love has God Himself at his side, Who is in him through the human being's activity of love. A person's degree of love determines when God, as love Himself, takes up residence in him. He can only dwell where love has accomplished such a transformation, where the human being has moulded himself according to God's will.... He must be humble, meek, peaceful and patient from the heart, and all this is brought about by love.... For he puts God and his fellow human beings before love for himself and will always think less of himself; he will demand nothing for himself but will always give.... he will not condemn, but understand and forgive.... he will not seek contention and will suppress all arrogance.... he will have understanding for the weaknesses of his fellow human beings and therefore practice patience. And thus his nature will change and mould itself in accordance with divine will. And God Himself can take abode in such a moulded soul.... Hence love will dwell in the human being in all its fullness, he will no longer be able to do anything else but be lovingly active because God Himself will now direct all his actions and thoughts, He Who is in him.... And where God is, there can be no depth, no darkness and no unfree state; where God is, there is light and freedom, where God is, there is peace and bliss.... love has redeemed man....
