주님의 성전.

사람의 혼이 자신을 사랑으로 변화시킨다면, 사람의 혼이 이제 하나님 자신이 혼 안에서 거할 수 있는 주님의 성전이다. 하나님은 이 성전을 기뻐한다. 그러면 이제 사람이 진정으로 하나님을 섬긴다. 왜냐하면 그의 행하는 사랑이 그를 인류를 섬기는 사람으로 만들었기 때문이다. 하나님은 이런 사랑에 대해 자신의 가까이에 거하게 하는 상급을 준다. 하나님은 주님의 성전으로 가꾼 사람의 심장 안에 임한다. 하나님의 임재는 그를 위한 가장 고귀한 선물이다. 그러므로 하나님을 모실 수 있게 된 심장은 거룩하다. 그의 심장은 하나님 자신이 자신의 음성을 들려주는 하나님의 성전이 되고, 심장 안에 하나님이 거하는 사람은 이 음성을 들을 수 있다.

하나님의 음성을 듣는 일은 사람들을 이 땅에서 가장 행복한 존재가 되게 한다. 그는 이제 하나님이 너무 선하시고 거룩한 것을, 사람들을 향한 그의 사랑에 제한이 없는 것을 알게 된다. 사람 자신이 주님의 성전이 된 것이고, 하나님과 하나가 되는 일이 일어난 것이다. 이는 축복되게 하나가 된 것이고, 한때 하나님으로부터 생성되어 나온 존재가 자신의 창조주와 연합이 된 것이다. 이런 연합은 사람에게 가장 큰 축복을 줘야만 한다. 이런 축복은 사랑의 삶이 주는 결과이다. 왜냐하면 사랑이 있는 곳에 하나님이 있기 때문이다. 하나님이 있는 곳에 상상할 수 없는 축복이 있다.

사람이 자신의 심장을 주님을 위한 성전으로 만든다면, 그는 모든 자녀의 권한을 갖는 하나님의 자녀이다. 자녀는 하나님과 입을 맞대고 대화할 수 있다. 자녀는 가장 가까이에서 하나님의 말을 들을 수 있고, 그에게 질문할 수 있고, 답변을 갈망할 수 있다. 자신 안의 주님을 언제든지 아는 일이 아주 넘치게 행복하게 될 것이다. 왜냐하면 주님이 그의 심장을 자신의 성전으로 택한 사람은 절대로 하나님의 은혜와 사랑을 받지 못하게 되지 않기 때문이다. 왜냐하면 하나님의 사랑이 그를 붙잡고, 이 사랑이 그를 영원히 더 이상 놓지 않기 때문이다.

그의 영은 아버지의 영과 하나가 되고, 그러므로 더 이상 타락이 있을 수 없게 된다. 사람은 이 땅의 삶의 시험에 합격했고, 하나님의 대적자의 권세로부터 자신을 최종적으로 자유롭게 만들었고, 자신의 자유의지로 하나님을 택했다. 하나님은 자신의 제한이 없는 사랑으로, 그의 임재로, 그가 언제든지 어디서든지 듣기 원하면, 이제 듣게 되는 자신의 음성으로 이런 의지에 대한 상급을 준다. 그러므로 사람의 심장이, 하나님이 약속한 것처럼, 그 안을 거처로 삼은 주 하나님을 모시는 지성소가 있는 성전이 된 것이다.

Temple of the lord....

The lord's temple is the human soul when it has moulded itself into love and can now take God Himself into its abode. And this temple is pleasing to God, for now the human being truly serves God, because his activity of love has made him a servant of humanity, and God rewards such love with His nearness.... He comes into the heart of the person who has adorned it as a temple of the lord. The presence of God is the most precious gift for man and therefore also sanctifies the heart that may harbour Him. It has become a temple of God, where God Himself lets His voice be heard by the person in whose heart God has taken up residence. Hearing the voice of God makes man the happiest creature on earth, and he now knows that God is supremely good and holy, that His love is boundless, which leans towards man.... Man himself has become the temple of the lord, and the union with God has taken place.... This is a blissful union, a union of that which once emerged from God with its creator, and such a union must result in supreme bliss for the human being. And this bliss must be the result of a way of life in love, for where there is love there is God.... and where there is God there is unsuspected bliss. As soon as a person has moulded his heart into a temple for the lord, he is a child of God who enters into all filial rights. And so he may also speak with the father from mouth to mouth, he can hear Him at close quarters, he can hear His voice, ask Him and desire an answer, and he will be happy beyond all measure to know that the lord is within him at all times. For whoever's heart the saviour has chosen as His temple will never lose His grace and love, for divine love has seized him and will never leave him again. His spirit has united with the father-spirit and therefore there is no more relapse. Man has passed the test of earthly life, finally freed himself from the power of God's adversary and of his own free will decided in favour of God, Who now rewards his willingness with His boundless love, with His presence, with His voice, which now sounds to him wherever and whenever he wants to hear it. And thus man's heart has become a temple which harbours the holiest within itself, the divine lord Himself, Who has taken up residence in him as He has promised....
