분리시키는 벽. 영적인 전투. 시험들.

자신의 소원이 하나님께 향하고 있다면, 자신의 주변에서 행하는 선한 일은 마치 장벽과 같다. 악은 이런 장벽을 파괴시키려고 시도하고, 이를 위해 순수하지 못한 방법을 사용한다. 악은 숨어서, 자주 선함과 경건함으로 변장하고 싸운다. 그러면 악을 악으로 깨닫기 위해 두 배로 깨어 있어야 한다.

하나님을 떠난 세력이 하나님을 추구하는 사람들 근처에 머물고, 사람의 생각을 하나님 밖에 있는 것들로 인도하기 위해, 지극히 작은 우유부단함을 알아챈다. 사람이 이제 연약해지기만 하면, 사람은 자신에게 속삭이는 생각을 받아들이고, 그의 생각이 더 이상 전적으로 영적인 길에 머물지 않게 된다.

그러면 사람은 그런 생각을 극복하기 위해 다시 자신과 싸워야만 한다. 그러면 비로소 그의 심장이 그를 더 강하게 하나님께 인도한다. 왜냐하면 혼이 타락하는 일을 어떤 부담으로 여기고, 이런 부담으로부터 다시 자유롭게 되기를 원하기 때문이다.

그러나 모든 영적인 싸움은 승리자가 누구인지에 따라 나타나게 된다. 대적자가 주도권을 잡는다면, 사람이 외적인 것들을 추구하고, 세상의 성공을 위해 자신을 바친다. 그는 영적인 추구를 중단하고, 그러므로 세상에 조공을 바치게 된다.

그러나 사람 안의 영의 세력이 역사하는 경우에는, 세상의 시험들이 그의 의지를 바꿀 수 없다. 그는 내적으로 평안하고, 목표를 의식한다. 그는 자신에게 다가와 세상적인 생각을 불러 일으키려는 것에 주의를 기울이지 않고, 하나님께 신실하게 머문다. 그러므로 그에게는 관심을 돌리게 하는 일이 없고, 그의 의지는 항상 지속적으로 하나님과 하나가 되는 일로 향한다.

시험을 견딘 일과 더 강한 하나님을 향한 갈망을 갖게 되는 일은 영적인 성장을 의미한다. 이로써 사람은 자신에게 다가오는 악을 막아주는 장벽을 세운 것이다. 그는 시험들로부터 보호받고, 선한 가면을 쓰고 자신에게 공격하려는 세력을 깨닫는다.

왜냐하면 그의 느낌은 아주 세밀해지기 때문이다. 그는 항상 순수하지 못한 것을 느끼고, 그에 대적을 한다. 그러나 자신을 순수하지 못한 것의 포로가 되게 하는 사람들은 아직 그들 자신이 순수하지 못하고, 그들의 심장에는 세상을 향한 정욕이 아주 크게 자리를 잡고 있다. 그들은 아름다운 말과 표정으로 그들에게 다가가는 것을 악하고 잘못된 것으로 의식하지 못한다. 그러므로 대적자의 일이 쉽게 된다.

그러나 사람이 깨어 있고, 하나님께 도움을 요청한다면, 그의 관점은 세밀해진다. 그는 하나님의 뜻에 따라 행하게 될 것이고, 지속적으로 싸우게 될 것이다. 그러나 그가 하나님을 향한 갈망을 가졌기 때문에 이 싸움을 단지 아주 적게 느낄 뿐이다. 하지만 이런 싸움은 하나님이 허용한 싸움이다. 이로써 사람들이 스스로 자신의 능력을 시험해볼 수 있도록 하기 위해서이다. 이로써 그에게 부족한 힘을 하나님께 구하게 하기 위해서이다. 다시 말해 하나님을 자신의 도피처로 삼게 하기 위해서이다. 이와 같이 선과 악 중에 누가 승리자가 되느냐는, 항상 자신의 하나님을 향한 입장이 결정을 하게 된다.

Partition.... spiritual battle.... temptations....

It is like a dividing wall that the good builds around itself when its desire is directed towards God. Evil tries to tear down this partition and uses unfair means to do so.... It fights in secret and often under the guise of goodness and piety. And then it is necessary to be doubly vigilant so that it is recognized as evil. Forces turned away from God remain close to the person striving towards God and perceive the slightest lukewarmness on his part to direct his thoughts towards things that lie beyond the divine. And now the human being only needs to be weak, then he will take in the thoughts which are whispered to him and his thinking will no longer exclusively move along a spiritual path. And then the human being has to fight with himself again in order to overcome those thoughts. Only then will his heart drive him more powerfully towards God, for the soul senses the apostasy as something burdensome and seeks to be free of it again. However, every spiritual battle manifests itself depending on the victor.... If the adversary has the upper hand, then the person will strive for external things and strive for earthly success.... He will interrupt his spiritual endeavours and thus pay tribute to the world.... But if the power of the spirit is active in him, earthly temptations cannot change his will.... He is inwardly calm and purposeful; he despises what approaches him and would like to cause him to think in an earthly way; he remains faithful to God and therefore there are no distractions for him, his will is always and constantly directed towards union with God.... And it means spiritual progress to have withstood the temptations and to have an increased desire for God. He has therefore erected the wall of partition that prevents evil from reaching him. He is immune to temptation and also recognizes the forces that seek to oppress him in the mask of goodness. For his feelings are mimosa-like.... he will always sense the impure and defend himself against it; but those who allow themselves to be taken captive by it are still impure themselves, in their hearts the desire for the world is still too great and what approaches them with beautiful words and expressions they do not realize as bad and wrong, and so the adversary has an easy game. But if a person is vigilant and asks God for help, his eyes will be sharpened and he will act in accordance with God's will. It remains a constant battle for him, only less noticeable, as his desire for God applies.... Yet the battle is permitted by God so that the human being himself will test his strength in it, so that he will ask God for the strength he lacks and thus take refuge in Him.... And thus his attitude towards God will always be decisive as to who remains victorious, the good or the evil....
