자유롭게 되는 일.

형체로부터 자유로워지는 일는 존재에게 말할 수 없게 편안해지는 것을 의미한다. 왜냐하면 존재는 이제 결코 어떤 방해도 받지 않고, 더 이상 시간과 공간의 제한을 받지 않기 때문이다. 비록 이제 존재가 자신이 거하는 장소인, 자신의 성숙한 정도에 맞는 영역에 머물러야만 하게 될지라도, 그 안에서 어떤 강요도 받지 않고, 항상 단지 특별하게 강한 자신의 행하려는 욕구대로 행할 수 있다. 존재에게 제한이 가해지거나, 존재에게 부담을 줄 수 있는 우울한 순간이 없고, 그의 주변의 모든 것이 빛이고, 선명하고, 자유롭게 된다.

그러므로 이런 존재의 상태는 더할 수 없게 행복하다. 왜냐하면 행복감을 느끼지 못하게 할 수 있는 모든 것이 그에게 사라지고, 과거의 영역을 벗어나고, 과거를 단지 기억하고, 빛이 충만한 상태를 흐리게 하지 않기 때문이다. 온전하지 못한 존재들이 아직 견뎌야만 하는 말할 수 없는 고난이 단지 빛의 존재 안에 최고로 긴밀한 사랑을 불러일으키고, 그러나 그들을 도우려는 갈망을 더 이상 고통으로 느끼지 않게 된다.

그러므로 겉형체를 벗는 일은 아직 온전하지 못하고, 묶임을 받은 존재가 견뎌야만 하는 모든 고난과 고통에서 완전히 해방되는 일이다. 그러므로 해방된 일이 존재를 지극히 행복하게 한다. 그는 동시에 온전하지 못한 존재들의 나라에서 온전한 존재들의 나라로 옮겨간다. 전적으로 서로 분리가 되어 살고 있는 두가지의 세계가 있다. 그러나 두 세계는 서로 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있다. 왜냐하면 한 세계의 모든 주민이 언젠가는 다른 세계에 속하게 되어야 하고, 온전하지 못한 존재들의 유일한 노력은 자신들이 속한 세계를 떠나 다른 세계의 거주자들에게 속하는 일이기 때문이다.

왜냐하면 바로 두번째의 나라가 하나님의 영광을 제공하기 때문이다. 단지 완전히 자유롭게 된 존재가 이 모든 영광을 볼 수 있고, 단지 온전하게 된 존재가 끝없는 아름다움을 자신 안에 받아드릴 수 있다. 반면에 모든 묶인 존재들은 그런 영광을 볼 수 없다. 왜냐하면 존재들이 여전히 자신을 둘러싸고 있는 겉형체가 깨달음의 능력을 흐리게 하고, 영적인 시력을 흐리게 하기 때문이다. 혼은 혼의 겉형체 때문에 단지 자유롭게 된 존재만이 견딜 수 있을 정도로 행복하게 해주는 것을 깨달을 수 없다. 따라서 온전하지 못한 존재가 부당하게 하나님의 영광을 향한 통찰력을 얻을 수 없다. 왜냐하면 존재가 또한 이런 영광의 한 가운데 거한다 할지라도, 존재는 이런 영광을 절대로 깨닫지 못하고, 느끼지 못하기 때문이다. 존재가 또한 빛의 충만함을 견딜 수 없게 될 것이고, 결과적으로 이런 빛의 충만함 가운데 소멸되어야만 하기 때문이다.

Act of liberation....

The act of liberation from matter means an indescribable relief for the being, for it is now in no way hindered and no longer restricted in time and space. Although it must now remain within the boundaries of the sphere which is now its abode in accordance with its state of maturity, it can work in it at will, it is subject to no constraint, and will only ever live by his urge for activity, which is extraordinarily virtous. There are no inhibitions or oppressive moments that could burden the being, but everything around it is light and clear and free. The state of such a being is therefore extremely blissful, for everything that could impair the feeling of happiness is far removed from it, it has been transported into the realm of former times, it only touches the being in memory and does not cloud the light-filled state in the slightest. The unspeakable suffering that the imperfect beings still have to bear triggers only the most heartfelt love in the beings of light, and the urge to help them, but it is no longer perceived as suffering.

To be released from matter is therefore a complete liberation from suffering and all torment that a still imperfect, bound being must bear. Therefore, the act of liberation is immensely blissful for the being. It is, as it were, the step out of the realm of the imperfect into the realm of the perfect. They are two worlds that are completely separate from each other and yet are closely connected, because all the inhabitants of one world should one day belong to the other world, and because the only endeavour of the former should be to leave it and join the inhabitants of the other world. For only this second world offers the glories of God, only a completely liberated being can behold them in all their splendour, and only a perfected being is able to absorb the infinite beauties within itself.... whereas everything that is bound is incapable of beholding such glories, for matter which still surrounds it, obscures the power of realisation and the spiritual vision. Through its covering, the soul is incapable of recognising what is happiness-inducing to such an extent, that such happiness can only be endured by a being which has become free. Accordingly, an imperfect being cannot gain insight into God's splendours unjustifiably, for it would never be able to grasp and feel whether it would also be placed into the midst of these splendours.... nor would it be able to endure the abundance of light and consequently would have to perish in it....
