해충. 기술적인 발명.

무수한 생명체가 스스로 기능을 수행해야만 하고, 이런 기능이 다른 생명체의 유지에 이바지한다는 사실을 아는 일이 매우 중요하다. 그러므로 이런 일은 예를 들어 모든 날아다니는 곤충의 경우, 그들의 먹이 섭취가 미세 입자를 이동시키는 원인이 되어, 식물 세계에 수정하는 일을 한다. 가장 미세한 도구가 이 일을 위해 생명체를 섬겨야만 한다. 그러므로 이일이 또한 그런 존재가 극도로 정교하게 구성된 몸을 가지고 있는 것을 설명해준다. 이 존재는 하나님의 창조의 진정한 작은 예술 작품이다.

인간이 존재의 번식 활동을 아주 분명하게 항상 볼 수 있는 것이 아니다. 육체의 눈으로 이런 번식 활동의 목적을 깨달을 수 있는 사람은 더 적다. 그 일은 오히려 항상 다른 존재가 존재하도록 기여하고, 그러므로 필요하다는 믿음을 해결책으로 삼아야만 하고, 확신해야만 한다. 인간이 해충이라고 부르는 존재들조차도 다른 생명체가 계속 존재하는 데 필요한 특정한 관계에 있다. 이 가운데 이런 존재들에게 무수히 많은 영적 존재를 담고 있는 영적인 과제가 부여되어 있고, 이런 존재들의 이 땅의 활동을 통해 사람들에게 필요한 저항력을 시험하는 영적인 과제가 부여되어 있다.

생명에게 모든 종류의 저항이 제공되어야만 한다. 왜냐하면 사람이 단지 극복을 통해 성숙할 수 있기 때문이다. 때때로 너희에게 견딜 수 없는 것처럼 보이는 것이 신체적으로 너희의 안녕을 증진하는 역할을 할 수 있다. 왜냐하면 너희는 너희의 육체의 눈으로 볼 수 없는, 작고 아주 작은 존재의 지속적인 활동을 줄이지 않고는 신체가 노출될 많은 위험을 알지 못하기 때문이다. 이런 존재들이 거하는 곳은 지표면과 물과 공기이다.

인간의 기술적 발명 덕분에 육안으로는 보이지 않는 가장 작은 생명체의 존재를 확인할 수 있게 되었다. 그러나 너희의 깨달음은 단지 무한한 수의 생명체의 일부로 여기는 데까지이다. 왜냐하면 창조의 세계는 가장 작은 생명체로 구성되어있기 때문이다. 창조의 세계는 그 자체로 순수한 기적이다. 창조의 세계는 영적인 눈으로 볼 수 있는 사람들과 빛 안에 거하는 온전한 영에게 하나님의 지혜와 전능함을 보여준다.

It is of extraordinary importance to know that the countless living beings must fulfil functions of their own accord which contribute to the preservation of other living beings. This is the case, for example, with all flying insects, because at the same time their ingestion of food is the cause of the transfer of the finest dust particles and thus serves to fertilize the plant world. The finest tools must serve the living creature for this activity, and this also explains the extremely finely constructed physique of such a being, which represents a true miniature work of art in God's creation. The beings' reproductive activity is not always so obvious to people and they are even less able to recognize its purpose with their physical eyes, instead, they have to take refuge in faith and be convinced that nothing in the whole of creation is without purpose, that rather one always contributes to the existence of the other and is therefore necessary. Even what you humans call vermin is in a certain respect necessary for the continued existence of other living beings, and incidentally they also have the spiritual task of being bearers of infinitely many spiritual entities and not least to test the human being's necessary power of resistance through their earthly activity. Life must offer the human being resistances of all kinds, since he can only mature by overcoming them. What sometimes seems unbearable to you can, on the other hand, even serve to increase your well-being physically, for you again do not know the many dangers to which the body would be exposed without the small and very small living beings that are constantly active to reduce them, some of which you are not able to see with your physical eyes. The surface of the earth, the water and the air are the abode of these beings.... Through the technical inventions of men the presence of the smallest living beings, which are invisible to the naked eye, has been established, but your knowledge only extends to a part of the infinitely many living beings, for creation is, as it were, composed of the tiniest living beings, which again are in themselves a pure work of wonder and illustrate the wisdom and omnipotence of God to him who is able to see with spiritual eyes and to the perfect spirit standing in the light....
