양심의 소리.... 경고하는 영의 존재.... 거부하는 일의 위험....

모든 세상적인 노력의 목표는 삶의 어려움을 해결하고, 질서 있고 염려 없는 삶을 영위하고, 몸에 생각할 수 있는 모든 좋은 일을 행하여 이 땅의 삶을 기쁨과 즐거움으로 가득하게 만드는 것이다. 그러나 실제 몸에 유익하게 보이는 일은 혼에게는 진정한 죽음이다. 이 땅의 어떤 권세도 이 위험으로부터 혼을 구할 수 없다. 유일하게 인간 만이 세상이 혼에 치명적인 영향을 미치지 않도록 주의해야만 한다.

사람은 자신이 행한 모든 일과 행하지 않은 모든 일에 대해 스스로 책임을 져야만 한다는 암시를 받을 많은 기회가 있다. 사람에게 또한 이성과 의지가 주어졌고 그가 모든 것을 고려해볼 수 있고 단지 의지만 있다면, 자신이 동인이 되어 위험을 피할 수 있다. 그의 심장 속의 음성이 거의 눈치를 채지 못하게 부드럽게 흔들린다. 이 음성에 더 많은 관심을 기울일수록 이 음성은 더 커진다.

이 음성은 항상 사람들에게 위험을 알리는 조심스러운 경고의 신호이다. 그가 이 은밀한 심장의 경고를 따르면, 그의 혼이 자신을 위험으로부터 보호해준 것에 대해 그에게 감사할 것이다. 큰 위험이 있을 경우, 이 음성이 아주 커져 불안이 사람 전체를 사로잡고, 그가 이 음성에 순종할 때까지 평안에 도달하지 못한다. 왜냐하면 사람 안에 좋은 모든 일은 선한 영의 세력과 연결을 구하기 때문이다. 다시 이성이 의지에 행하도록 자극하도록 하기 위해 이 영의 세력은 사람의 심장이 음성을 듣게 하려고 시도한다.

이렇게 모든 사람에게 위로부터 매일 경고와 훈계가 주어진다. 이를 올바르게 이해하고 따르는 사람은 영적 죽음에 빠질 까봐 두려워할 필요가 없다. 그러나 사람이 이 음성을 피하면서 계속해서 거부하여 이 음성을 침묵시키면, 경고하는 영의 존재들의 지원이 점점 줄어들 것이고, 내면의 귀는 이 음성을 듣지 못할 것이다. 외부 세계가 그의 소리로 이 음성을 덮어버릴 것이고, 유혹에 따를 것이고, 혼은 말할 수 없는 고통을 받게 될 것이다.

왜냐하면 혼을 둘러싸고 있고, 이 것으로 혼이 자유롭게 되기 원하는 겉형체가 항상 더욱 굳어지고 통과할 수 없게 되기 때문이다. 곧 영의 세계에 대해 전혀 생각하지 않게 될 것이고, 외부의 모든 반짝이는 광채에도 불구하고 이 땅의 길에 빛이 없을 것이다. 왜냐하면 혼의 핵심은 영적인 양분을 받지 못하고 항상 몸의 갈망을 따라야 하기 때문이다. 이로써 인간은 진리에서 점점 더 멀어지고, 곧 순전히 영적인 모든 것과 빛의 영역에서 혼의 상승을 위해 기여할 수 있는 모든 것과 더 이상 아무런 관련이 없어진다.

겉 형체인 육체는 깊숙이까지 물질이 되었다. 그는 몸을 손질하고 장식하고, 인기를 끌려고 하고, 무엇보다 삶의 모든 것에서 자극적인 것을 얻으려고 시도하고, 교만의 영을 불러 일으키고, 지배하길 원하고, 계속하여 진정한 과제를 싫어한다. 그의 행동은 혼을 흥분 상태로 만들 수 있다.혼은 모든 말을 거절하고, 혼에게 주는 모든 영적 요구 사항과 인간이 몸에 합당하게 보이기 때문에 훨씬 더 성취시키려고 하는 이 땅의 욕망 사이에 벽을 세우려고 한다.

그리고 그는 항상 단지 혼이 계속하여 산다는 것을 부인하려는 단 하나의 의지만을 가지고 있다. 이로써 이 땅의 사는 시간에 대한 모든 책임에서 벗어나 세상의 쾌락에 대한 더욱 더 큰 권리를 갖기 위해서이다. 그리고 오늘날 수많은 사람들이 이러한 잘못된 견해에 빠져있다. 그들을 설득하고 그들의 심장을 영원으로 돌리려는 모든 시도는 실패한다. 단지 큰 고난 만이 아직 성과를 가져올 수 있다. 만약에 이 고난이 더 고집에 빠지게 하지 않고, 그들이 의지가 없이 멸망을 향해 가도록 자신을 맡겨두지 않다면, 성과를 가져올 수 있다.

각 개인이 받는 억압을 통해 너희는 몇몇 사람들이 부드러워지고 유순해지고, 창조주에게 겸손하게 복종해야 한다는 것을 깨닫기 위해 어떤 길을 가야만 하는 지 깨달아야만 한다. 그들이 깊은 믿음으로 아버지의 돌봄에 자신을 맡길 때 모든 고통은 그들에게서 제거될 것이다. 그러나 그들이 계속하여 완고하게 머물고 아버지의 긍휼로운 손을 잡기를 거부하길 원하면, 이 땅의 어려운 운명이 그들에게 점점 더 무거운 짐을 지게 할 것이다. 단지 고난이 복종하게 만든다.

단지 고난을 통해 사람이 이성적이 된다. 왜냐하면 모든 소원의 성취는 단지 유일하게 아버지께 인도하는 길을 벗어나게 하기 때문이다. 사람은 가장 겸손하게 몸을 굽혀 하늘의 아버지를 바라봐야 한다. 그러면 그는 그가 아버지께 인도받는 은혜를 받을 수 있다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 하나님의 은사를 받기를 단지 원하는 모든 사람에게 주기 원하기 때문이다.

Voice of conscience.... warning spirits.... rejection in danger....

The purpose of all worldly endeavours is to remedy the hardships of life, to lead an orderly, carefree life and to do the body every conceivable favour and thus turn life on earth into a life full of joy and pleasure.... But what seems beneficial to the body is true death for the soul. No force on earth is able to save the soul from this danger, only the human being alone must ensure that the world does not have a fatal effect on the soul. There are so many opportunities which give man a hint that he himself has to take responsibility for all actions and omissions. He is also given intellect and will so that he can consider everything and can also avert danger of his own accord if only he summons the will. Quietly and almost imperceptibly the voice in his heart stirs, which sounds louder and louder the more attention is paid to it. This voice is the vigilant warning signal that always alerts a person to danger, and if he heeds this secret admonition from his heart, his soul will be grateful to him for protecting it from danger.... In cases of great adversity the voice is so strong that a restlessness seizes the whole person and he will not attain peace until he has heeded this voice, for everything that is good in man seeks connection with good spiritual strength, and this in turn seeks to make itself heard in the human heart, so that the intellect stimulates the will to be active.... Thus all people receive daily warnings and admonitions from above, and anyone who understands them correctly and obeys them need not fear falling prey to spiritual death, but if the human being isolates himself and silences this voice by constantly rejecting it then the support of the warning spiritual beings will become less and less, the inner ear will not hear the voice, the outside world will drown it out with its call, the temptations will be followed and the soul will suffer unspeakable hardship as a result.... For the shell which surrounds it and from which it strives to detach itself will become ever denser and more impenetrable, soon not a single thought will apply to the spiritual world and the path on earth will be devoid of light despite all the glistening splendour from outside. For the soul's core will remain untouched by spiritual nourishment and will only ever have to fulfil the body's desire, and thus the human being will distance himself ever further from the truth and soon no longer have any connection with everything that is purely spiritual and could contribute towards the soul's upliftment into regions of light. The human body shell has become materialistic through and through, it seeks finery and trinkets, is addicted to pleasure and tries to gain attractions from everything in life, arouses the spirits of pride, wants to rule and is always averse to the true task. Its behaviour can put it in an agitated state, it finds all words of rejection and tends to erect a wall between every spiritual demand made of it and the earthly desire.... which man much prefers to fulfil because it seems beneficial to the body. And he only ever has the one will to deny the soul's survival in order to be relieved of all responsibility for the time of earthly life and to have an even greater right to the pleasures of the world. And countless people today have fallen prey to such erroneous views.... all attempts to convince them and to turn their mind towards eternity fail, and only a great adversity can still have a fruitful effect if it does not even then rather drive people to obstinacy and let them drift towards the abyss completely without will. You must recognize by the oppression of individuals which path some have to take so that they become soft and submissive and humbly submit to the creator. All suffering will be taken away from them if they entrust themselves to the father's care with deep faith, but they will be increasingly burdened by their earthly lot if they remain obstinate and do not want to take hold of the father's merciful hand. Only suffering makes people compliant, and only through suffering will they come to their senses, for all fulfilment of longing only leads them away from the path that alone leads to the father.... Man should bow down and look up to the heavenly father in deepest humility, only then can he partake of the grace that leads him towards the father.... For God wants to give everyone.... if only he has the desire to receive the gifts of the lord.
