L’esaudimento del dovere terreno – Il lavoro spirituale

Nulla vi deve trattenere dal tendere alla perfezione e perciò non dovete voler raggiungere delle mete terrene, ma dovete pensare solo alla vostra anima ed al vostro compito terreno, che è unicamente importante dato che vi deve procurare la Vita nell’Eternità. Se dunque il mondo vi si avvicina con le sue pretese, allora pregate Dio per la Forza, affinché possiate adempiere ciò che viene preteso da voi nel modo terreno, ma sappiate che anche Dio pone a voi delle Pretese e che il loro esaudimento è molto più importante, in quanto vi vengono date solamente perché la vita terrena vi è stata data allo scopo di tendere verso l’Alto, che diventiate perfetti e che non dobbiate trascurare questo compito, se la vita terrena vi deve procurare il successo per la vostra anima. L’uomo non si deve mai sottrarre ai suoi doveri che gli sono caricati per la vita terrena, perché deve usare la sua forza vitale per l’amore servente per il prossimo; dev’essere ininterrottamente attivo, perché soltanto una costante attività contribuisce alla Redenzione di ciò che è ancora relegato e vuole servire. Ma se premette il lavoro per la sua anima ad ogni lavoro terreno, non farà nulla di ingiusto, contribuirà piuttosto alla Redenzione dello spirituale in maggior misura, e l’attività spirituale soppesa di molto l’attività terrena. Chi tende sempre di camminare sulla retta via sulla Terra, chi vuole pensare ed agire solo secondo la Volontà di Dio, metterà la sua forza sempre al servizio del prossimo e quello che gli sembra la cosa più importante, lo farà per prima. Se ora il lavoro spirituale gli sembra non rimandabile, perché riconosce la miseria sulla Terra, deve cedere alla spinta del suo cuore ed attivarsi spiritualmente. Perché la volontà per il lavoro per il Regno di Dio gli dà anche una percezione più acuta per ciò che è necessario ed il lavoro dell’anima deve sempre essere preposto ad ogni altro lavoro, dato che è appunto il vero scopo della vita terrena. Ma finché l’uomo cammina senza conoscenza, è consigliabile l’esaudimento di un dovere terreno e secondo l’Ordine divino. Ma se gli è diventato chiaro il senso e lo scopo della vita terrena, allora la vita terrena retrocede e la vita spirituale ha il privilegio, perché questa è imperitura e comprensibilmente il lavoro per l’Eternità è più importante che l’attività che procura solo successi terreni. Più l’uomo è maturo, più facilmente si separa dalla Terra ed i suoi beni, meno richiede in gioie mondane, e quindi deve poi anche retrocedere le pretese mondane, cioè adempierle soltanto fino al punto com’è assolutamente necessario. Malgrado ciò deve esercitare l’attività d’amore, deve sviluppare al massimo l’amore e quindi far diventare ogni attività terrena contemporaneamente l’agire nell’amore, affinché possa adempiere ambedue, che adempia il suo dovere sulla Terra e tenda comunque alla perfezione. Deve usare la sua forza come operaio per il Regno di Dio, deve porsi una meta mentre cerca di guidare a Dio delle anime erranti, deve aiutare loro alla conoscenza ed essere quindi attivo spiritualmente, allora avrà un doppio successo, aiuterà sé stesso ed il suo prossimo alla maturità dell’anima e ad usare la sua forza vitale per l’attività salvifica.

Earthly fulfilment of duty.... spiritual work....

Nothing should stop you from striving for perfection, and therefore you should not want to achieve earthly aims but only think of your souls and your earthly task, which alone is important since it shall earn you life in eternity. Therefore, if the world approaches you with its demands, then ask God for the strength to enable you to fulfil what is earthly demanded of you, yet know that God likewise makes demands of you and that their fulfilment is far more important, because earthly life was only given to you for the purpose that you strive upwards, that you become perfect and that you must not neglect this task if earthly life is to bring you success for your soul. The human being should never shirk his duties which earthly life imposes on him, for he should use his vitality in helpful neighbourly love; he should be constantly active, for only constant activity contributes towards the redemption of that which is still bound and wants to serve. But if he puts the work for his soul before all earthly work he will not do wrong, on the contrary, he will contribute to the redemption of the bound to a greater extent, and spiritual activity outweighs earthly activity many times over. Anyone who always strives to walk the right path on earth, who only wants to think and act in accordance with God's will, will always place his strength at the service of his neighbour, and what appears to be most important to him he will do first.... If spiritual work seems to him to be unpostponable because he recognizes the hardship on earth, he should give in to his heart's urge and be spiritually active. For the will to work for the kingdom of God also gives him an intensified feeling for what is necessary, and the soul's work should always be placed before all other work, after all, it is the actual purpose of earthly life. But as long as the human being walks along without realization, earthly fulfilment of duty is advisable and in accordance with divine order. But once the meaning and purpose of earthly life has become clear to him, earthly life recedes and spiritual life has priority, because this is imperishable and understandably work for eternity is more important than activity that only brings earthly success. The more mature the human being is, the easier it is for him to separate himself from earth and its goods, the less he demands worldly pleasures, and thus he must also then put worldly demands on hold, i.e. only comply with them as far as is absolutely necessary. Nevertheless, he should practice the activity of love, he should bring love to its highest development and thus let every earthly activity become an activity of love at the same time, so that he now fulfils both.... that he fulfils his duty on earth and yet strives for perfection. And he should use his strength as a labourer for the kingdom of God.... he should set himself an aim by trying to lead erring souls to God, he should help them to realize and thus be spiritually active.... then he will have double success.... he will help himself and his fellow human beings to maturity of soul and use his vitality for redemptive activity....
