L’opera d’amore verso i nemici

Fate del bene anche ai vostri nemici e prendetevi a cuore, che ogni opera d’amore su di loro, per quanto piccola, ha una triplice Benedizione. Vi aiuta ad allontanare il dardo dell’animosità, aiuta voi stessi alla Grazia, e risveglia nuovamente l’amore corrisposto in coloro ai quali fate del bene. Portate con ciò un sacrificio dell’auto superamento. Avete abbastanza tempo e comodità per prepararvi ad un tale atto d’amore per il prossimo, ovunque vi troviate nell’animosità verso di lui. Inizialmente vi sarà ben difficile, ma un poco alla volta la voce interiore vi renderà facile la vostra impresa. Vi incoraggerà e non tacerà prima che abbiate eseguita l’opera d’amore. Allora l’unico pericolo è soltanto quello di non rendervi conto di quale effetto benefico ha una tale opera d’amore; quando l’avversario non vuole ammettere quanto gli fa bene il vostro amore, allora siete leggermente scoraggiati ed inclini ad astenervi da ulteriori opere d’amore e non credete, quanto errata sia questa opinione. Non riconoscete così chiaramente la Benedizione spirituale, ma per l’anima è di inimmaginabile valore, e una volta vi pentirete amaramente per ogni tiepidezza, di cui vi rendete colpevoli. Nel mondo spirituale si sta continuamente cercando di formare gli uomini in esseri amanti della pace, di superare l’animosità e di trasformare l’odio ed il disamore in amore e bontà. Quanto prezioso è l’agire reciproco, tanto indicibilmente dannoso è, quando gli uomini si affrontano nell’odio e nell’animosità. Questo distrugge ogni comunione spirituale fra gli uomini, e le anime, che si allontanano l’una dall’altra sempre nel tendere di danneggiarsi reciprocamente, si ingarbugliano così profondamente nella rete dell’avversario, che a loro sarà sempre più difficile liberarsene e questo è appunto possibile solamente attraverso delle buone opere resesi reciprocamente. Non è ben possibile un tendere verso l’Alto con l’animosità nel cuore, questa deve dapprima venire estirpata, l’uomo deve cercare di allontanare dal cuore ogni odio e rancore e poi stabilire nella stessa misura un buon rapporto. Allora verrà concesso ogni assistenza e per il tempo della sua vita terrena gli è sicuro l’aiuto delle buone Forze spirituali, che proteggono lui e con ciò anche l’anima da rinnovate animosità da ripercussioni nel suo lavoro su sé stesso. Perciò osservate in ogni tempo questo Comandamento, di amare i vostri nemici e di fare del bene a costoro, allora guadagnate incommensurabilmente in tesori spirituali per l’Eternità.

Work of love towards enemies....

Let it be your concern to do good also to your enemies, and take heed that every work of love, no matter how small, is blessed threefold.... It helps you to remove the sting of enmity.... it helps you to grace yourselves, and it reawakens counter-love in those to whom you do good. And you thereby make a sacrifice of self-conquest. You have time and leisure enough to prepare yourselves for such an act of love for your neighbor, wherever you are in enmity with him. It may be difficult for you at first, but gradually the inner voice will make it easier for you. It will speak to you well and will not be silent until you have carried out the work of love.....

And the only danger then is that you do not realize what an unspeakably beneficial effect such a work of love has, if the adversary does not want to admit that your love benefits him.... then you are easily discouraged and inclined to refrain from further works of love.... and do not believe how erroneous this view is. You do not recognize the spiritual blessing so clearly, but for the soul it is of unnameable value, and any lukewarmness of which you are guilty, you will one day bitterly regret. In the spiritual world, work is constantly being done to shape people into peace-loving beings, to bridge enmity and to transform hatred and unkindness towards each other into love and kindness.

As valuable as the work for each other is, it is unspeakably damaging when people stand opposed to each other in hatred and enmity. This destroys all spiritual fellowship between people, and souls who turn away from each other always in an effort to harm each other get so deeply entangled in the nets of the adversary that it becomes more and more difficult for them to free themselves from them and this is only possible through mutually performed works of love. Striving upward with enmity in the heart is not easily possible, first it must be eradicated.... man must try to remove all hatred and resentment from the heart and then establish a good relationship in the same measure.

Then all assistance will be granted to them, and for the time of their earthly life, they are ensured of the help of the good spiritual forces, which protect them from renewed hostilities and thus also the soul from setbacks in it's work on itself. Therefore, always observe this commandment to love your enemies and do good to them, so you will gain immeasurably in spiritual treasures for eternity....
