0575 Floods of love.... palace of the rich.... hut of poverty....

September 6, 1938: Book 12

All those who comply with the divine will and only endeavour to save their souls may immerse themselves in the floods of divine love. Whereas mankind is only concerned with daily worries and lives thoughtlessly, the strengthening bath will be sorely lacking, for without divine love it will never be able to free itself from worldly desires. But love is so easy to acquire.... Just a loving thought for the one Who gave you life.... just a thank you for it and the desire to always do the right thing on earth in the spirit of the one Who created you.... And you will already be seized and guided by God's love, and this for as long as you are of good will. But if you turn away from the thought of God.... you want to carve out a life for yourselves as you see fit, then God will also turn away from you, for He loves everyone dearly who recognizes Him but does not impose His love on anyone who wants to walk alone on earth. How easy people could make life for themselves if they walked with Him in all situations, in joy or sorrow.... how much happier joy would be and how easily bearable suffering.... if you wanted to share everything with Him, the lord and saviour, Who is always close to you with His love. If people see their God in earthly possessions, they will only find a hard heart there, for earthly riches are not suited to ennoble human hearts, but all bad habits and vices are rooted in the desire for gold and good.... for earthly possessions.... Where can you find divine love in this? The lord dwells where He is called, but the call to Him rarely comes from the palace of the rich, but more often from the hut of poverty. The darkest need often forces a person to take refuge in God and turn to Him for help, and a person who is not attached to earthly possessions can offer himself fully and completely to the heavenly father. How mercifully the love of God now descends on such a human child.... But those people who revel in riches and do not find their way to the father must live in want despite all their wealth.... although they snatch everything from the world that it offers them, they are in great spiritual poverty, for their spirit and soul suffer unspeakably because they lack the love of God. Worldly splendour and worldly power do not replace the power of grace of divine love, so you humans must be all the more anxious to acquire it, since it is accessible to all of you and everyone can step into the floods of divine love so that he is strengthened in body and soul and finds strength in abundance for the task he has been given for his earthly existence....

Amen
